Ysgol Nantgwyn

Don't let your kids come too this school I used to be in this school but now i'm not I now go too Treorchy comprehensive school and it's a better school than Ysgol Nantgwyn because Nantgwyn don't do shit all about anything and with bullying the pupils report it and it don't be dealt with and the teachers and really care about you they just want the money . The teahcers in Nantgwyn are horrible apart from the lower school teachers the upper school teachers are horrible like I said .
And also the food in this school is crap I know these thing because I went to this school for 4 years and it was the worst 4 years of my life .
And also they do'tlet you go to the toilets " you have too go during break or dinner time " it's a load of bull so DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE !!!!!

I hate this school,don't go to this school

To start this, I would like to say that teachers don't really care about what happens in the school, yes there may be one or two that actually care but for the most part all they want is people to attend. People can get away with any bad behaviour just by having a positive relationship with teachers, and as those who do not behave are usually loud and will openly speak with teachers, they are likely to build a relationship. Not only this but the actual curriculum is atrocious, I once heard a girl get asked what 19-5 was and get the answer incorrect, and no, this was not in a bottom set year seven class, but top set in year ten. This is a question that should be easy for all pupils, even for the year seven pupils who are in bottom set. This shows how the curriculum is not actually teaching the students. Also, students are often placed in sets that do not represent their skill level. In every top set class there seems to be multiple students placed in there with the reasoning that the teacher believes that they can succeed, when the student is very clearly struggling. It doesn't matter what a teacher may "believe", it matters what is true, which is that if a student is struggling as they are working with people well above their skill level, then they should be moved to a class with those whom they can actually work with. People being placed in the wrong set is not only inconveniencing said student as they cannot do the work, but also other students as often times a teacher must slow down, or spend more time explaining the work to them. Also often a teachers attention will be directed to the person who is struggling, therefore leaving the other students to struggle more. Another common thing that happens when people are placed in the wrong set is that they do not try, and decide to misbehave as if a student keeps struggling and getting things wrong, then they feel inadequate compared to the other students in the class. Furthermore I would like to speak about the food, which I did not eat a lot of, however for the most part it is so unhealthy. From toast drenched in butter, to the most greasy pizza I have ever seen, this school really needs to improve not only their options, but the quality. The only actual lunch food I would eat was chicken wraps, which the chicken was actually quite enjoyable, however the tortilla would always be quite dried out from being exposed to air for a long period of time. This was not even an incident that happened once or twice, but every single time I got one, the tortilla was dry and crispy. It usually takes a week to get to this point, meaning that they are using tortillas that are atleast a week old. Also, if tortillas are kept in the fridge they should last up to a month, so they may be even a month old still being served to people who are still growing, and therefore are more susceptible to picking up illnesses. I would also occasionally buy the muffins, not the small ones in the packets, but the large blueberry muffins. I only got these maybe three or four times, but every time it was uncooked in the middle. I kept buying them in the hopes that they would improve, but to no avail, they didn't. The inside was as if the batter had only been cooked for a minute or so, and even the outside was quite soft. Overall the food is not only of low quality, but also extremely unhealthy. The school is also so dirty, everywhere I walk I am either trying to avoid a squashed bagel on the floor, or water that has been sprayed across the corridor. Sometimes it seems as if the cleaners are not even coming into some rooms as things will be left there for days at a time, they really need to take control of the school to prevent this happening. As fore mentioned, the teachers are oblivious of the fact that there is constant chaos happening. Every single corridor is always packed with people pushing one another and fighting, throwing things at one another and dumping things over each other, it is pure chaos. I once witnessed someone knock down a roof tile, and throw it at somebody else, hitting him in the eye. They really must do more to stop things like this happening as that is extremely serious and could have done permanent damage. Also, I swear I saw a rat a few times there. I was sat outside at about lunch, and they will just come out if it's quiet around as they think that it is safe for them to run to get some food. I also feel that this school does not have enough options of places to go at lunch. Sure, you may go outside if it is dry, but often you are then surrounded by people playing sports and fighting so it can feel quite dangerous at times. If it is wet you may go in the quad, however the same thing happens, also there is much less room in general, and if you want to also keep out of the rain then you need to stand under an overcrowded shelter with half the school. Alternatively you may sit in the café or hall, however in those there are constant shouting, food being thrown, and there is so much food across the chairs and floor that I feel just breathing in while inside of them will make me ill. This leaves nowhere to go, meaning you need to find somewhere quiet, which is impossible when there is constantly atleast five groups running around, where you will not be kicked out, once again impossible. I feel that if people can be trusted and are being quiet they should have the ability to just go somewhere to sit that it is calm, however teachers do not allow them. I would never dream of doing anything bad towards the school, after all, as explained it is already terrible, and I am always trying to be respectful, which means being quiet when in places where I may disturb others. So what is wrong with me being somewhere I feel comfortable? Somewhere where I am not going to actually cry from being? You may think that is dramatic, but on some days I cannot handle loud noise, or too many people around, and I will burst into tears just from something as small as having to sit in a café full of people. In conclusion, almost everything about this school is terrible, and they really must make some amendments as currently it is not a place I would wish for anybody to be.

This place is actually ass. Half the time they don’t even let you to the toilets and the teachers are a different thing there the most stubborn people ever especially the IT teacher in this place he’s the worst teacher I’ve probably ever seen

Don't let you're kids come here it's the crappiest school I've gone to the foods alright the teachers always ignore you they buy stuff for the bad kids like 20 pound footballs but the good kids get bullied you go on nice trips but they cost so much most students are fed up and depressed there so strict about the uniform my friend had joggers on almost got sent to isolation it's such a crap school wish I could leave

"worst school ever. If you're even considering taking your kids here, get that thought out of your head. NOW!! they will try and tell you otherwise but this is my experience as a student!! The food is RANK, the kids are STUCK UP, HOMOPHOBIC and RACIST. And the teachers just allow them to get away with it. Ysgol nant Gwyn is HELL on EARTH. The teachers are ignorant and useless. I'm so embarrassed that I even ALLOWED myself to stay here. What type of school tries to enforce a no bullying policy, only to allow it to happen under their own noses. AWFUL. I wish I could give it MINUS 5 STARS. 0 isn't ENOUGH"

I left this school last year and now that I've been at my new school for a couple of months I've realised how they literally teach no science until year 10-11 at nantgwyn. Due to this I am extremely behind when it comes to the scientific curriculum as many of my current classmates have covered many topics from physics, biology, and chemistry in year 7, 8, and 9. So thanks a lot nantgwyn for having pointless subjects like 'caru dysgu' in year 7 yet barely having any lessons on basic science. Other than that, the school was barely average, better than many schools in the area however.

Bullies get better treatment

This school is terrible. They only care about you being there.. they do not care about any students or how your feeling’ I got bullied all the way through my school years in this school and they did nothing but blame me. So I took things into my own hands and contacted the police and the school made tbubgs so much worse for me.
They told me to go away and to never go to a certain teacher about how I feel. They have no rules and no policy and the teachers are absolutely useless!!
