I went to do the Tourists Pathfinder Course and in the sports hall the floors were dusty and disgusting! I sat down and it was absolutely scum!! on top of that the students from YDH in this course were mainly disrespectful and horrible.
this school is very bad my child has been going throw bullying with children in the school and the teachers don’t listen to any of the bullying and one of my son was crying and they just said “ look at me when i’m talking to you go to lesson now or your haveing a after school” that’s unacceptable behaviour i would like a invest in the school behaviour it’s very bad / horrible school i would recommend not coming to this school due do these actions
Very very poor level of teaching. Teachers allow their pupils to use social media throughout the lessons and allow all year 12 and 13 pupils to sit around in a lounge all day doing 0 work whatsoever. Our own daughter has learned very little this year at all simply because the teachers are controlled by the pupils and don't care enough about the job
I left David Hughes in October of 2020 and in my opinion this school was not exactly the best I think this because the time table was very messed up and all over the place to the point where you would have something like four science lessons in a row in the time table there was not even a such thing as a single lesson that would be something you would have to worry about in six form not in year seven. Another reason I think this school was not the best was that the food in the canteen was awful it was either junk food or pasta well okay the pasta did not taste that bad but if you stuck a kid with the choice of chips and pizza or pasta and vegetables then they are obviously going to choose the pizza and chips. Also another problem I had was that everything was taught in Welsh on the English side which was annoying as if you did not come from here you would not understand anything anyone was saying. The field was also filled with poisonous mushrooms and litter. Anyways these are just my opinions if this is the school for you that is absolutely fine with that its just it was not the right school for me.
everyone bullies eachother, even the teachers at this school (moreso by them), extreme bias to students fluent in welsh compared to english, they do nothing when anything is mentioned to them instead just writing it down and saying “we’ll sort it later”.
The school isn’t helpful with people who have disabilities, they push you to the point of panic attacks just for “proof” that you need to be treated differently than most of the students. They also point blank deny people who need help with things most of the time if they aren’t fluent Welsh speakers. It’s extremely discouraging considering they pride themselves on being one of the most accepting schools in the area. In my experience, they also don’t help with bullying, instead just playing it off as “teens will be teens”.
Very impersonal, almost no accommodations for disabilities or students needing help. Rampant bullying. A lot of bias towards Welsh speaking students compared to English speaking students. Welsh students always had better teaching and opportunities.
The school is good in some aspects but it lacks in others. Hygiene could be much better and the toilets could be improved but the teaching and support is great. There is a balanced mix of strictness and enjoyment in learning.
