Terrible school. A teacher stops every girl in the corridor he sees either without a jumper or their jumper tucked into their skirt, makes them come into their class and fix what he doesn’t like, but when he sees a boy doing the exact same thing he doesn’t stop them. We’re also being made to take our books home instead of leave them at school, and if we forget them or our bottle leaks in our bag we’re the ones to blame, even though they could just let us keep them at school. The queues for lunch are HUGE. There is too many year sevens, there are 2 queues and both of them have about 70 people on each side. The education is also terrible. Set 2 does harder work than set 1, set 3 and 4 just colour in, so if you want to move up a set you can’t because you’re not even doing anything that has to do with the subject, and only set 1 is actually learning anything since they give them the best teachers. In lessons if one person does something we all get punished. If 4 people are messing about instead of them getting punished it’s all of us. And, the school claim to care about bullying, but I see this special needs kid getting ganged up on every single day, pushed on the floor by the same group of boys, it’s been going on for a whole year yet the school has done nothing. They’ve also banned phones, which is stupid, we have to lock them in pouches. We’re not allowed to open them at any point in the day unless a teacher gives us permission. And if we break it we have to pay ten pounds, which if ridiculous because nobody wants it in the first place, and most of them break on their own. My friend broke hers, her parents refused to pay for a new one, so my head of your came into our form class everyday and had a go at her, as if she could pay for it. There’s also a diabetic student in my year, they use their phone to check their blood sugar. But the school makes her put her phone in a pouch with velcro, which is insane because there’s no point in it. If she forgets it she gets punished, and if she breaks it she has to pay for it. Also, the sixth formers get so many privileges. They get their phones and they get to skip the lunch queue. If any people who aren’t in sixth form wear leggings or tight trousers or anything non school uniform we get after school detentions, lunch time detentions isolation's and we can literally get excluded for wearing leggings or eyelashes but the sixth formers all wear tight trousers or leggings. I get that they’re older but if we have to follow school rules why don’t they. The uniform rules are crazy as well. They’re basically all aimed at the girls. No leggings, no tight trousers, only knee high socks or tights if you’re wearing a skirt, no white socks, no fake eyelashes, no nails, we’re only allowed one type of skirt, we have to wear our jumpers and get told off if we don’t (when boys have their jumpers off they don’t get told off) If you’re gonna make that many rules at least make them fair. Overall I think this would be a nice school if they didn’t have so many rules and it wasn’t so sexist. They talk about rights and everything but when it comes to girls the male teachers treat us terribly.
This school is absolutely disgraceful, not supporting your students in the slightest. Bullying should not be accepted, teachers turning a blind eye to students who are actually struggling and taking the mick of their students also, overall do NOT send your child here if you want them to be successful.
I cannot speak highly enough about this wonderful school and the staff who work there.
My Son started in 2019. Shortly after Covid hit & the school dealt with it amazingly, with all lessons done online with plenty to keep him occupied.
My Son has lots of different health problems, which all seemed to get worse after starting at the school. The school and in particular the ALN team adapted to his growing needs and absolutely nothing was too much to ask. We kept in very close contact and ensured that my Son could still carry on his schooling in a way that helped him, kept him safe and put his health first.
I don’t feel I can put into words just how absolutely outstanding Ysgol AberConwy have been from start to finish.
I am so incredibly grateful that my Son went to this school.
Aberconwy can shove the shit they talk about John bright up there flat dirty arse holes , they also have to many guys with perms there , blonde perms it's weird , also everyone I know there is queer unless they popular popular then they're pregnant or about to be , nearly every year 9-10 is selling drugs in the bathroom, I once found a bone in my chicken burger or whatever the hell it was , blood in my food , plastic, ect the teachers always 'warn' you about John bright even tho they're way more lax, one of the teachers shagged a student and still works there , they have all these assemblies about bullying but don't do nothing about it, the 'counseling' is dog shi, shall I go on
