i'm stuck in ie help me. worst school in york would not recommend you or your children going. horrible staff that abuse their power. They will put you in a box for 6 hours and 30 minutes just because they feel like it or there in a bad mood. Food is normal nothing special. A member of staff stands outside while you use the toilet facilities. Very dirty not enough bins rubbish on floors. There is also a massive pile of wrappers drinks food about waist high. Massive lunch lines that extend down the hallway out of the cantine like something out of a movie. Very little place to sit outside. Students sit on the dirty astro because of this. graffiti plastered all around the school with members of staff not caring to clean/remove. cameras in toilets. And it's hard to believe but that's not all of the problems.
How does this school manage to even stay open? Safeguarding nightmare! Used car salesman as a head teacher, deputy head used to be a senior and I think they only employed her because she can just about blag her way out of a wet paper bag... if your kid requires any SEN support, sending them to work with the council refuse collection team would probably support them more!
Bullying 10/10 seems even the ugliest kids can be bullies at this school too, kids leaving the school walking past the head seeing them out yelling the n word with no repercussion, its madness
Why York High School should purely just be deleted.
this school by far has to be the most disgusting, manipulative, bully and harassment filled cesspit that nobody could ever even imagine.
they use isolation as their big trump card for any student who stands to make a change or to stand up against the teachers who demand respect when they dont give it back, abuse their roles and bully students of their choosings, i have been manipulated, gaslighted, bullied and much more by staff members to the point of a suicide attempt, which they try to write off as not their fault at all.
my friend was on her period and the teacher refused to let her go to the toilet, so when she walked out the lesson they gave her 4 days of isolation, nearly a full school week for simply tending to BASIC HYGIENE!!
they one time lied to me saying i had been given a cahms referral, when i had not been issued one AT ALL, and they expected me and my family not to notice?
another time i was sick all over myself, in my hair, on my shirt, all over, and i was denied being sent home because my head of house said i “faked it” and promptly put me in isolation for skipping lesson, they then decided to remove me from ie, then decided to put me straight back in because i said “fuck you” to my head of house, you know, for sending me to a classroom of 40 people in 30 degree heat.
this school has appalling support for mentally ill students like myself and others, has disturbing amounts of rude teachers who get EXTREMELY angry when called out by students on their behaviours (i was once punished for calling out my french teacher on transphobia and was put in isolation) and they constantly blame students for their poor ofsted rating when it was purely their fault to begin with. overall, a disgusting school that deserves to be burned down with the staff inside it, because what they do to students is borderline evil and they should see how it feels to be in their student’s shoes.
Disability discrimination is a key part of York highs focus, they make sure every child with a neuro diverse condition is treated special, the extra hour of school spent in detention provides parents with an hour of much needed respite after the morning of hell trying to even get them to attend in the first place
Urmmm it’s good it gets the job done it’s my 3rd year now lots of homophobia and sexism you tell the teacher and they say it’s there opinion and can’t do anything about it lessons entertaining some teachers aren’t that great in my opinion there more bothered of wether you swear rather than throw sharpener blades at people who are lgbt when they have said multiple homophobic comments but it’s there opinion righttttt
Not the worst but hasn’t being the greatest experience I have had since I joined. They say they will help with things but then ignore what you have said. Ever since the pandemic, the school have definitely tried. But when it comes to eating year 8,9 and 10s end up getting such little proportions of food due to yr7s and 11s.
I’ve been at the school a while now, they’ve handled online schooling well. I’ve seen the best and the worst of the school, from miss handling to inappropriate comments from teachers to days dedicated to promoting equal rights and wellbeing. There’s always someone to talk to if you’re struggling and willing to talk. The schools definitely got a long way to go but compared to schools in the same area I think it’s a lot better.
They have tried their hardest during this pandemic but there is one problem year groups are still going near each other at times and the school are ignoring that. As well, there is little food for the other year groups due to the fact Year 7 and year 11’s are getting the vast majority of the food which means there isn’t enough for the rest of us to share out.
