Honest review for 7 years- Don't send your kids here!
My younger daughter has nearly been at this school 7 years and she is ending this July coming.
What I will say about this school are the key points that are overall bad since a new headmaster has been appointed here in September I think in 2022 when my daughter started year 4.
Usually, this school was never like this from say 2018 to 2022 has been a relatively good experience as then the previous headteacher and the one before that have been running it smoothly so any issues... dealt with!
But my 1 star review I wish I couldn't rate, is bc of the past three years of living torture. Not torture as such but disgrace in this school which I couldn't believe!
Firstly, the activities, events and kids here are still relatively okay and the presentation of the school except when I take my eldest to the secondary school not far from this one down the road, I see the back of Woodsetton forest being covered with litter which may go to show that the outdoor environment needs improving and hardly any of the staff hardly care but the good side to it is that the kids do litterpicking which helps anyways, secondly, the education. Ik this sounds silly but even though the education is helping with other kids' needs my younger daughter is in the advanced stage of learning getting high results in reports and no one is considering to do something her level apart from her main class teacher who is so lovely and considering for my daughter to do sats.
Furthermore, this follows on... the teachers.
Unfortunately since everything changed with the headmaster in control, the teachers changed their persona apart from a few still and one receptionist left because of the headmaster's disgraceful behaviour towards the staff and kids even of 4 or 5 yrs of age!
Honestly, this school has screwed my family over as it's gone that downhill it will not get outstanding again as none of these people who feel superior to others are willing to contribute positive changes. Also I will just mention a few things that's happened but I don't want to keep on typing so the members of staff talk down to parents in a condescending manner as if the parents are at the school aswell and my daughters TA moaned at my daughter after my daughter used pen instead of pencil even though she has neat writing! This school moans over the pettiest things which is wasting time for EVERYONE, it's like they don't realise!
That exact same TA isn't very welcoming and how ik is bc of when I went to one of the sessions and she talked to me in a miserable manner if she's that unhappy don't bother talking to me at all!
There's this male teacher who my daughter had the past two years before this one and he is the diabolical of bullies.
He put in the report that my daughter was a bad kid in behaviour when she was not and made lies about her by making out for her to be a bad kid. He also said in the report that her attendance is going to wreck her future learning which is not true as what can you do when you are sick and have a horrible illness? Not serious illness but she had a very bad bug and also my daughter has a passion for football and attended several teams and had rewards but the one time my daughter attended the team again and they didn't ask if she wanted to go so when she went he came up to her and said "you can't be on the team" so that day my daughter came home devastated and told me that a few other girls like her who was passionate for football got kicked off and then I went up there and had a word with him about it and you know what he said? He said hopelessly "it's not my problem" then finding out that Brier won bc this school didn't put her on the team after they lost as my daughter is a good player. I am grateful for Brier winning but no girls were on this team as there was on the other so our school had its own arrogant way. Every pupil matters... not to them every moment counts... Not to them! It's a headline to attract people to the school but once there they treat them like dirt. Also that exact same male teacher put his own rule up without permission from SLT to ban football cards for no reason and he blamed my kid when another kid chased her with a balloon, irritating her, him saying "you are meant to be showing an example to him!" When it wore her and finally that TA put her an Xmas mary costume on after ours didn't fit so my daughter had to send her own full costume home which we were disappointed in as it was a fab one and she had to borrow the schools which were awful as one parent told me that the exact same thing happened to her son last year and he ended up with something called ring in worms or something and I didn't want my daughter to have it so when we got back she told me and she had a shower to prevent it and then I wrung up the school and politely told them to not put her in a costume like that without asking me first! Not for too long they listened as a week later, the had some sort of French day and the whole class had to have a photo done in their costumes which is quite silly as they could've worn their own clothes and you know what they gone and did... put the costume on her! This school needs to be fixed.
