Terrible school! Was called Selfish and Rude by one of the teacher, one was because I was outside the classroom crying my eyes out. The other time was because I refused to go into a classroom to revise as the class and teacher constantly argued and due to the noise, it overwhelmed me. We where revising Chemistry. I am suspect Autistic, which the school knew. They tried forcing me into the classroom and I ran off as I couldn't cope and went to CS to do some Revision work on another subject. I had a Sociology exam that day and Chemistry the next day, and I knew less of Sociology. After being in the school for 6 months, there where lessons I couldn't stand being in due to the students and the teachers so I ended up running out and avoiding the lessons.
When I wrote a letter to the teacher I argued with over being in the lesson or not, the teacher didn't apologise and instead made some lame excuse. I was being very polite during the letter and even got one of the CS workers to look over the letter.
I also found myself feeling suffocated inside the school which was also part of the reason I ran off and my mental health was quite bad, which they didn't care for. They didn't cater to my needs and it seemed as though they thought that after I had transferred to that school in Y11, that my bad mental health would've suddenly gotten better.
Horrible the rules are inhumane if you are even 1 second late the teacher will shut the student entrance and make you go though the main entrance where they will give you a detention and if you are 4 minuets late to lesson its a detention no toilets during lesson and you cant go at break because there is magnetic locks on the doors not letting you inside and you cant go in between lessons because if your 4 minuets late you get a detention and overall the school is uncooperative especially with certain needs your child may need
I left woodhey in 2022 and somehow it’s gotten even worse.
parents DO NOT send kids there. They’re many other kids that go who are just awful and get away with it because the disciplinary system is backwards and it just makes it even more miserable for the few that aren’t.
Staff tend to push same/ similar narrow minded views that can really limit childs perspective whilst they are there.
Also the vaping problem hasn’t gotten away it only gets worse with disposables.
Starting school is already a very. Intimidating time and now the school has added unisex toilets for the mix. I know when I was a younger girl I was very intimidated by year11 boys because they were a lot bigger. Now that’s your little kid. The school doesn’t listen to parents or children with perspectives that differ from theirs. It’s not inclusive, it’s not diverse and I know for fact there are many other past students, parents and staff of woodhey high school who will agree.
Rude staff unable to have a conversation and extremely sarcastic will end call when they cannot 'address issues' plain words no tolerance for parents don't want to listen return your call to say I'm not having this conversation
It was okay a few years ago, but with the new academy getting involved it feels completely like everything is focused about making us pass our GCSEs and not at all about learning actual skills we will need for life.
Also, support for mental health in the school is little to non. The pastoral team are great but when it comes to the teachers, they do not care about mental health at all and will most of the time shout at or kick out people who are struggling in lessons.
Overall, if you want to pass your GCSEs but you want your mental health to be ruined and you don’t want to learn anything actually useful for your life, then come to this school.
It’s horrible we aren’t allowed to go to the toilet unless it is break or lunch and we can’t go then because the teachers don’t let us or the bathrooms are crowded, we also aren’t allowed our phones in school and if we need to call our parents we need to go to the office yet i dont see this as practical as the situation may be personal and we also might need our phones to use our bus pass or talk to parents
I personally really enjoyed my time here at woodhey. I struggled a lot in school and any teacher I ever went to always helped me, and they spent the time with me that I needed to help get things off my chest. Obviously there were some bad days, as there are in any high school, but over all I feel like the support I was given throughout my time here was handled really well. My GCSE’s turned out much better than I expected and that’s thanks to my teachers for pushing me to do the best I could.
The school seemed okay at first until I realised that barely any teachers care about the students mental health. Everyday at this school felt like Groundhog Day but constantly getting worse. Do not recommend.
Absolutely awful I couldn’t have possibly have had a worse 5 years I was victimised by teachers and bullied by fellow pupils however whenever I’d bring this up NAFF ALL would be done about it and this continued for 5 LONG , NIGHTMARISH YEARS!!
