It's taken me some time to come forward about this but now that I am an adult I feel safer and more comfortable to do so.
I completed my full secondary education here from years seven to eleven and throughout that time, I was bullied by a senior member of staff Sarah Anderson. All of the other teachers knew about this and often saw it happen but made comments after events to myself in secret that it was best that I do not say anything to her or about it.
One year, when we went out of school for work experience for a week, my work experience fell through and so I ended up having to do it at the school as a teaching assistant kind of role. One of the students from a younger year (I think year seven or eight) passed me in confidence a bag of razor blades that they were going to use to harm themselves. I reported this to Sarah Anderson and instead of acting on it, she left me (still a student of the school) to go and find the child because she was on her lunch...
Another example of her bulling me infront of staff was one time at the dinner line. Everybody was lining up to get their dinner including staff and I had gotten to the front. Sarah Anderson came in to the dinner hall as I had gotten to the front and stepped in front of me to get her food and as she did she made a comment that has stayed with me even to today in front of two other teachers. "Your Spanish teacher said you have gotten a detention for not having your homework, you're going to end up on jobseekers one day or in prison especially because of where you're from." No teacher, dinner lady or other member of staff batted an eye despite hearing this as she left with her food and went on her way.
Sarah Anderson would often scream at me in the corridoors often for no reason even when I had been sent out for books by teachers or to grab things from other classes but her level of power prevented her from being checked by other teachers.
There are definitely teachers in Woodbrook Vale School that do their jobs well and care to an extent and I don't know much about an Ofsted report or anything of the sort. What I can tell your for certain is this, If your child has special needs of any sort and of any severity low to high, you would do well to avoid sending your child here. If your child struggles to understand or cope with their anxiety or mental health, you would do well to avoid sending your child here. And if your child like myself at the time, struggled with their sexuality, you would do well to avoid sending your child here.
As a final point, if Sarah Anderson ever reads this, I want you to know that you were wrong about me. I left the British Army honorably as a Corporal, I now run two successful businesses and own a house in Kentucky USA and a lovely house here in England.
I hope whatever satisfaction you got out of tormenting me was worth it because in the end. I won.
the school/staff aren't bad overall but they are very 'fake' about all the positivity (I don't know how to work it), for example they have an anti-bullying club... but it doesn't do anything to stop bullying, they have assembly's about important topics ect like homophobia/racism/sexism ect.. but never actually tell people off for doing homophobic or racist or sexist things
