Wingfield is Terrible, send your kids somewhere else

This school is a very strict place and gives out detentions for the most unreasonable reasons. Such as talking at the start or end of lunch and losing the rest of your lunch time because of it, anytime time during assembly and being "hands on" when it isn't harmful in anyway .Also, teachers denying people ever doing anything to someone because they "didn't" see it happen even if everyone else claims to have also seen it happen. Teachers giving out mini detentions, for example adding on extra minutes if only some of the class misbehaves. Furthermore, the academy explains about how it's good to make routines and habits, just to change all the rules and even switch the rooms around which is extremely confusing for not only newer students, but for everyone. I still don't understand why this school had to do this.

I would also like to address the school constantly making it easier to get detentions by adding new things like yonder pouches and 2 C3's in a day result in the rest of the day in the consequence room. The uniform is also ridiculously strict for girls. If your trouser legs are "too short" (just enough to show ankles) then you will get a 30 minute detention for just showing your ankles. I think this is strange because who would be looking at your ankles anyway? In addition, if your trousers are made of a stretchy material then you will get a 30 minute detention as well. I also have a problem with the detentions. You can get a day in the consequence room you you refuse to give staff a ring because two is "too many" but if you punch a student you also get a day? I think this is wrong because how is having a single extra piece of small jewellery the equivalent of punching a student.

You have your rights of drinking water and going to the toilets stripped away from you. You can't go to the toilets in the first or last 15 minutes of the lesson. Holding in urine can lead to kidney problems. Also even if you have a toilet pass, the 15 minute rule still applies to those students and even some teachers don't allow students with toilet passes to go to the toilet which is horrendous because these people have MEDICAL CONDITIONS saying that they are allowed to go.

If you are late to a lesson just by ONE MINUTE then you can get a THIRTY MINUTE detention. So I would just like to ask, where has the extra TWENTY-NINE MINUTE has magically appeared from. This is a comprehensive school not a magician school, so tell me where does this extra time come from?

The lunches are unbearable. The food looks like prison food and tastes like it too and for the price of £3?! Some students have been having extra money taken out of their accounts. Students with free school meals sometimes don't have enough money for a standard meal? Which doesn't make sense because they are on free school meals for a reason. Inside the eating area there are pointless TVs that display the time and school logo. They could've used this money on equipment for the yard.

In conclusion, this school is a terrible, horrific and harsh place to send your children. I would recommend Winter hill as I have heard it's rules are way less strict. But if you want to put your child through hell, Wingfield is the place to go.

Great School

Absolutely Amazing school. Food is great, teachers are friendly. Only problem is that the yard area isn’t reasonable to say there is 1000+ students, and also when you cant buy any healthy options when getting a snack and when you are on the school bus I saw someone miss there stop because they wouldn’t let him get off ( year 11s ) and I have seen 2 teachers in 2 weeks leave to go to another job/ country but it is overall a great school I totally advise. (Yes my review is all over the place)

wingfiled academy reviews.

wingfield academy is described by the headmaster as “best school in rotherham” om but that is very far from it.they lock students in offices,at one point all toilets were locked and there was only 2 chances to go to one ,at one point students had to ask their teachers to email for a member of SLTescort them to toilets!!most students are drained with the amount of homework and revision they need to do.especially sparx maths.this school is pathetic and i will never send my child here again i don’t recommend it at all, most teachers are strict,my child was C3’d and more because of small things that doesn’t even need to be made a fuss of.absolute joke!!children getting phones taken for checking time or messaging parents, having to ask for drinks and to take off jumpers/cardigans.barely having time to eat and being punished for jewellery.that’s not even all.i will always hate this school.

Bullied by teachers and students.

Let me start this by saying it doesn’t matter about your dreams and aspirations, this school, and it’s teachers solely care for grades, for themselves entirely and will do anything for them.

I have witnessed teachers bluntly telling students that they will not amount to anything, and they’re dreams are ridiculous, so they should just do their grades and get over it.

Their website may claim: “All students in school feel safe, happy and are free from bullying and discrimination.”; but this couldn’t be further from the truth, as even the teachers can’t adhere to this.

I personally was bullied and embarrassed not only by students but more so by members of staff who thought it was okay to try to tear apart my personal goals in front of the entire class, on multiple occasions, but more noticeably on 3 specific occasions by 3 separate members of staff, almost leading me to anxiety attacks, (while ignoring my multiple requests to stop, as I rushed out of the class, as they continued to laugh and humour me). This lead to making me afraid to come into school. Worse, this was continuous throughout my time here.

“You like being bullied though, don’t you?” - A member of staff. A genuine quote.

At least now, I can say that all I received from my time here, was this school giving me nothing but mental instability and further damage to my self belief, also damaging the mental health issues that I had been dealing with, (which I had also mentioned to members of staff, but nothing was done to assist me with - instead they aggravated them).

Looking back now, I am glad to say that I am successfully living out my dream career and aspirations that I had back then, (which I had to teach myself legitimately everything about in order to achieve them) in fact being in a better financial situation then many of members of staff there, just a handful of years on.

However, this doesn’t take away the trauma I experienced, that still lives on inside my head.

Please, if your child has any dreams of anything more than working a dead-end job, do not kill those dreams by sending your child here.
