Meh, just Meh

Meh school, only good for getting the grades, teachers alright, excluding this midget one in English.
Can't complain schools a great laugh, just care more about grades and tend to focus on higher sets.
Better than the others, lord knows how.

Not that bad

Ok let’s get this strait, I’m a year 7 at the school and if I have to be honest it’s not that bad I mean sure there’s those kids that barge into your form uninvited and cause havoc but apart from that its an ok school

Horrible school

My kid over 5 months, got her phone broken by another student, had her lunch stolen from her and always saying about how the teachers are disrespectful and don’t care about students mental health like they say they do. All they care about is the school reputation. They only care if they get money. Overall just pick a different school . Horrible!

felt terrible the whole time

school handles bullying and serious issues HORRIBLY. due to many different events that took place over the years I had to go to school here I spent my last year feeling unsafe on school grounds, and on the walk home. I also know many other people who had terrible experiences, made worse by the schools methods of handling them. on multiple occasions I complained about the school not taking real problems seriously and got nowhere, my experiences here had serious long term effects on my mental health and I'm glad to be gone.

Big big no

When I came to this school, I had high hopes but now it is a big no no. The first major issue for me is the chick from SDP. I think her name was barthomew or something but she was a right one. I didt care about the students and was overall a big bully. Second was my sisters PE teacher. My sister is very shy so when she needed to see a teacher, I would come with her but let her do the talking. I did this just to comfort her and make sure that she does not have more severe panic attacks. On one of her visits to the PE Teacher Ms Adams, she refused to let me even stand outside the door and when my sis had her severe panic attack she would not let me try and calm her down and when I complained because I wanted to help my sis, I got isolated and given a detention after school for defiance. The third major complaint I have is there bullying policies. They claim to not tolerate bullying but they do tolerate it. They make no effort to punish the well known notorious bullies but instead go after people who try and do the right thing (like me) or people who make tiny infractions.

Overall I do not recommend and personally I think the school should be investigated.

Small piece of infomation about the school

The school doesn't treat everyone equally, it's really bad with health and caring for their students. Only care about their reputation as a school.

Students are treated as if they are in prison, stupid rules and lectures about piercing or how smart you dress because "you won't get a job later on in life"

Doesn't live up to their rules about the wickersley way at all.

Dear god

The people here are chaos, the staff are patronising, i wouldn't even serve the food to my dog, Left with decent gcses, but good god was it worth the effort and emotional strain, no.
Still one of the best schools in Rotherham, pshe is probably worth it here rather than elsewhere, thus 2 stars.

Send your children elsewhere

Personally, I had a horrendous experience at Wickersley School to the point where I developed severe anxiety and agoraphobia which undoubtedly traumatised me for years after leaving the school. I recall that as soon as I got into form, every single morning for 2 years, my tutor would single me out and make me stand at the front of the class for a “uniform check”. I would get sent to the head teacher or SDP every day due the smallest, most ridiculous things, such as having my nails painted a shade of pink too dark, having a bow in my hair, wearing tights that weren’t ‘dark enough’, too much makeup (even though I only wore eyeliner and mascara), skirt being too short (it came to my knee), wearing frilly socks - the list was endless. The more I challenged the teachers on their obvious bullying, the more they’d do it, and the more they’d intentionally trigger me to have extreme panic attacks. One time, a teacher went through my entire phone to find a message I apparently sent to someone calling them a rude name, despite that message never existing in the first place. When SDP couldn’t find the message, they went through more and more of my messages until they eventually found one where I was complaining about the school to my friend, and then gave me detention for it. The first time I ever wore foundation at age 15, my head of year called me a tart. SDP would often throw makeup wipes to me when I wore makeup, and even asked me to remove my eyeliner in front of everyone, this sent me into panic mode as I was very unconfident at the time, I started crying and gripped onto my hair until it came out and all I got was “youre an attention seeker”; this sent my therapist at the time into a fit of rage where she contacted the school and they didnt even offer me an apology. They didnt apologise because they enjoyed what they were doing, and continued to do such things. I was never a naughty kid, I was extremely smart and well behaved yet they made me feel like a criminal for simply being myself. All this wretched hellhole cares about is good grades, sports, and their reputation. They have an almost cultish way of running the school, and do a terrible job at looking out for the wellfare of their students. I was constantly belittled, screamed at, and treated like an animal over nothing. Whenever I had an issue with another student, such as bullying, they would do nothing. I literally went to SDP about a serial sexual assaulter and rapist 2 years above me, and was told to stop being dramatic rather than getting the police involved. Whenever I pointed out their hypocrisy and clear favouritism for certain students, they would punish me. A specific example of this, was when I was told off for dying my hair dark purple (which was almost black unless it was in direct sunlight), I pointed out that another student, who they liked more than me, had bright purple hair for months and never got told off for it. My head of year literally gaslighted me here, by telling me that the student in question didn’t have bright purple hair, and that I was “making things up to direct the attention away from me”. A colour blind person could see that this other girls hair was purple, so her entire argument was pathetic. If I were to return as a student, with the knowledge and awareness i have now, I would honestly get the police to investigate this disgusting place because it’s not just me who has suffered these experiences continuously. After reconnecting with old school friends recently, I have heard horror story after horror story about how the teachers took advantage of their youth and naivety to get away with discrimination and bullying. Do not recommend. Send your babies somewhere else.

My Review about school.

It was terrible, people there are just not nice, they don't understand deaf people, the students need to be more mature.
Staff need to be more strict with people who behave badly and when they bully others. The SDP doesn't really help that much in my opinion, they only thing that was good about school was probably the work.

Wickersley is good!

Great overall school and all teachers care about the students well being and are really caring and are particularly good in PE and have very fair discipline and set placing .

Wickersley school

The teaching is... OK but the teachers vary on how well they treat students, for example some teachers may pick on a minority. The food is mediocre and the toilets are disgusting.
