This school is the best school they accept you and love you they support your studies if you are hardworking and committed to studies I would recommend it àny where in the world. The teacher go the extra mile for students wonderful school GOD bless Whitworth community high school.
I was bullied relentlessly every day I spent at this school. Their way of dealing with it was calling me a liar because ‘no staff witnessed it happen’. A school where bullies get praised and outcasts get punished. Would rather send my child to a concentration camp than this hell hole.
My child was placed in detention after school for only achieving 96% on there maths homework,on a subject that hasn't been taught,I wasn't informed that my child had been detained, and was left waiting outside the school for over half an hour, the teacher responsible, should be dismissed,it is disgusting,I'm furious and will be taking this further,it seems the kids who try,get punished, and the ones that don't,are praised,my child was in tears ,
Not sure of what happens in school time and highly doubt it’s disciplinary as the behaviour of the forty plus gang that are wrecking the Whitworth area and beyond is appalling. Just last night a post was written that Whitworth pupils are spitting on adults and physically assaulting them. The ‘children’ aged 11-16 are feral, Whitworth High School must be so proud of their lovely students.
May I add that things have certainly changed since I left there, some great teachers and the vast majority of students were decent human beings. Not any more!
Awful just awful 😖
Refused to send my younger child here after my eldest had the most traumatic time of their life here .
Wouldn't recommend to anyone who cares about their child's education or mental health.
Children with any extra needs are treated like outcasts and made to feel ashamed of themselves and less of a person.
if you are not in the teacher's good books there is no point being in their lesson as they will find a way or make a new way up to have you removed from the classroom or just make it horrible to be in there, however, there are some good teachers who can be reasonable, can teach well and are liked and then, on the other hand, there are teachers who cant teach and yet just talk to their students all lesson rather than committing to the lesson and teaching all they do would be to hand a piece of paper out and fill in the sheet with little to no help.
underachievers who are willing to learn can even be tossed to the side if results are not shown straight away by some teachers however you have some good teachers in each department of the school but the bad ones outweigh the good
have hear from people that there is very biased teachers and that they are very awkward with students
Cannot believe the amount of bullying that Gordon at this school, a lot of which is by online methods.
Someone is going to get seriously hurt or worse .
If you go to teachers you are accussedif being a grass .
All in all a horrible school
I told the school multiple times about how I felt lonely, suicidal thoughts, depression etc and the best they did fir me was give me a "praise card" where teachers wrote such inspiring messages as "good work" or "you put your hand up more today", another solution for the loneliness was to make friends as if that wouldn't be the first idea that popped into my head, since moving on from high school I can see just how terrible their drive to help struggling students was.
They don’t do anything when your being bullied other than talk to you and them after that they don’t do anything, they also like to help with your health or mental health but don’t get your hopes up because they give up within a day or 2, the food is like plastic and the pasta or currys they make are too watery or overall disgusting and if you’ve got a complaint about teachers and you tell someone they change the subject and basically move on and do or say nothing
NEGATIVES-Shocking school of your child has SEN.Your childs diagnosis doesn’t seem to matter.
Over achievers will get all the available help, underachievers are basically just underachievers.
No hot food allowed if you have a lunchtime detention, cold food only.My child’s lucky they can get a hot meal at home so this is concerning for children who don’t have that option.Shocking that they use food as a punishment.
Rules,Rules and more Rules! They are fixated on uniforms and appearance and not fixated on education which is the main reason children attend school.Mobile phones are completely banned but I feel this is a stupid idea, especially if children have to walk to and from school and they can’t contact anyone for help if needed.
Bullying is never tackled as the school never admit bullying due to them not wanting the school linked with it.Be careful though because if you retaliate then you’ll find yourself with cold food or an exclusion.
Teachers have their favourites and if your not on that list then you really have no chance of progress within the school.
Children’s mental health is continually being challenged and they couldn’t care less.
POSITIVES- Overachiever,completely perfect,then you’ll do just fine.
Students can’t leave the premises at all so you know where they are at all times.
Receptionists are lovely.
This school only cares about there grades and attendance not about children’s mental health or ensuring a child is safe and comfortable around teachers and other students as well as at home. At lunch time on several occasions there has been no food left for several students at lunch time and lunch times are limited to 25 minutes, giving children barely enough time to eat and take a suitable break from 2 hours worth of vigorous school work. Alongside all this, female students in year 10 have no options for extracurricular, the only sport available for year 10’s is Male Football
they care more about grades than anything else. 97% attendance is what the expect from you? children with chronic illness are told to be in as much as possible. not to mention the fact they pay no regard to mental health. they barely do anything if you’re bullied and make a bigger fuss if you have your phone completely turned off during school hours to make sure you get yourself home safe. you can only do good if you are in a higher set with a teacher who actually likes you. favouritism is a major issue in school. it’s beyond ridiculous, and they keep making rules up out of nowhere? losing free time if you have a rolled up skirt? stupid. not to mention the fact during covid they keep the windows open and sit students next to them in winter and expect them to not wear a coat. appalling behaviour.
3 years on after leaving I can whole heartedly say this school ruined my mental wellbeing and I'm still trying to get over the trauma this school caused me.
First of all let me get this out of the way there was/are some good teachers, but the bad out weigh the rest.
One teacher caused me to have a very visible mental breakdown but it was swept under the rug. It wasn't until the school found out about a suicide attempt something happened, and that really shouldn't be the case.
I waited out my time there to finally leave, and yet it's still a chain around my neck trying to get them to pass on info to the college I attend about a learning disability. They still haven't done that.
I remember a time when a teacher had the audacity to say I don't have a certain medical condition, yet I had to carry the medication with me at all times.
I honestly cannot wait to see this school become rubble one day.
The positives? They get good grades out of your children aslong as your child puts in the effort aswell. Some of the teachers are lovely, however some are not at all. The negatives? Well.... They care more about dress codes than students general health. For example, during the colder seasons, (especially during covid when they have to have the windows open) they are strictly NOT allowed to wear coats indoors and are punished if they do. The reason they aren't allowed is because 'its against the dress code' which seems like utter rubbish. My child was advised to wear thermals under their clothes, but how can the school expect us just to go out and buy extra things when they could use what they already have, especially in covid times when people are earning less money than ever. Another thing is that they are NOT AT ALL allowed phones in school. Not even switched completely off, and at the bottom of their bags. My child has to walk all the way from whitworth to rochdale because me and my husband are both usually at work when school ends. I am not having my child walk such a long way and not have some way to contact people, so i make her take her phone to school anyway. So overall, the school is good academically, but not so much for other reasons.
Way too strict than they need to be. Most of the teachers are on power trips and can act extremely unprofessionally at times towards students. However, they do get results. If you’re more concerned with your child’s academic achievement than their emotional well-being then this is the school I would recommend. But if you, like most parents, wish for your child to be respected and comfortable throughout their school career I suggest you look elsewhere in the valley.
When I went to the school they cared more about their appearance than actually helping their students. They did nothing to help with bullying and if you tried to fix it yourself you would get in more trouble. Some of the pastoral staff caused almost as much problems as the students did.
