Its a mess
From my own experience & from what I've heard from other, the place is a mess. The Head Teacher is completely useless & gets her PA to do everything. While some teachers are quite good, a good amount of teachers are terrible teachers & others can barely control a classroom. To be honest though, a good amount of people who attend my year are not best of people, but school needs improvement & a better Head Teacher.

Awful
I would not recommend this school to anyone who wants good mental health and wellbeing or good grades. I found 2 teachers I liked and the rest were hateful. Had multiple arguments with teachers, had my crutches 'confiscated' by a teacher and had concerns ignored. My grades dropped for 8/9 at previous secondary schools to 4/6 at this school due to the bad teaching environment and classes

my thoughts
This school is shit they only are borthed about your behaviour and our my deputy head has been there for 3 weeks and is already telling children that she can't cope with them, it's not a bad school to send you children to but it's going down hill, thees some teachers that care very much about you and try to help, but other teachers use the sanctions as an advantage so the teachers need to take control of the school instead of just suspended people all the time, they've Saif I've been suspended for my mental health which is against the ofstead rules but in all its not a bad school but they need to start caring for the students x

It’s a shit hole bascially the school itself isn’t too back but the staff do fuck all to help you and they don’t care abt mental health or any thing and they get to have as many little teacher strikes as they can but we can’t have a little protest abt something that is actally important and they suspended you for not taking of your coat when they can be more too it than just refusing. They also think that sitting us in a reflection room is gonna sort all of are behaviour but maybe there’s more too it there’s always more too something than just being naughty so teachers if you see change your act or fuck yourselves x
Shit school

Appalling school
This school is appalling I would not recommend sending any child there. They have no control over thier pupils and their behaviour policy might as well not exist because they don't follow it. My child went through hell at this school and the school felt the need to isolate him away from others and not punish the pupils who beat him and threatened to stab him on many occasions. Pupils carry knives and the school do nothing when reported. Poorly led and safety of children is worrying.

Honestly hated it.
Honestly horrendous. They care more about what rings we’re wearing than transphobic, homophobic and sexist comments being made which are in ear shot of teachers and reported if we need to. They give detentions if you are 10 seconds after second bell without a note from a teacher although you need more times to get across the school to get to lesson. I feel like I don’t learn due to ample amounts of teachers being ill and we’re given a ridiculous amount of homework- we’re expected to do 3.5 hours a week plus art (if you take it) which can take up to 3 hours although we end up doing 8 hours to reach the standard they are asking for. We are reprimanded for swearing although several teachers use bad language and we’re yelled at if our uniform isn’t quite correct even if it isn’t our fault. Bullying is insanely bad and although it’s a “talking school” nobody feels they can talk about it as almost everything ends in a fight. I hated it.
A review from me :)
West Somerset college is a place that causes stress to me and possibly many other people. Some teachers use the sanctioning system way to much and potentially, they take advantage of that power. Other teachers are fab.
Also, the food could be better. I know that supplies could be expensive and ingredients are quite expensive, but atleast cool the pasta. Also, I feel as though the drinks are a bit too expensive. That's all from me.

absolutely awful in everyway had 2 years here and glad I've only got this one left at this point.
lessons aren't awful except of the complete lack of support during lessons and the obvious fact that they've given up on certain students

Really bad... My mental health was already bad but they made it worse... Only 2 good teachers who actually helped... Teachers never really cared about the students as long as they were not completely failing
Very very shit
In the 3 years I was there I had really bad mental health the school increased it instead of helping me , I never got any help regardless mental health or school work, my attendance got to 30% because my anxiety got so back that I would be sick before school I was that scared , the teachers are clearly not payed enough and it shows they don’t like to do the paperwork so they brush everything off , because of this school I have got grades e and fs
My experience
Honestly I hated it, there was only two teachers that I liked and the even helped at all, the rest of them are grumpy and old.
