The teachers always talk about how much they value us but all they value is our attendance it doesn't matter why if we're off even because of things like mh problems they don't care and were still to blame. Bullying is a big problem and again they always say that they have systems in place for this type of thing but when it comes down to it they don't help at all they might let you move classes after A LOT of persuading but the bullies will not see consequenses. They talk about how they will help you with any mental health issues but all they'll do is tell your parents or send you to cahms even if the problem is inside of school. If they do not see your problems as serious enough they will tell you to "Suck it up and get back to class".
Bad school
Teachers don’t care
They’re horrible for no reason as a discipline you get iso or detention every day bullying is bad everyone is sly and tight and all you heard is bad stuff
Teachers dont care abt mental health and j don’t know my 12 x tables
in year 7 we were preparing for our end of year dance performance and the dance teacher said we cant wear strappy tops because it shows our bra straps and if we choose to wear strappy tops there's male teachers and cleaners around and it's our own faults if they look at our bra straps. i was 11. it is not a child's fault if a man chooses to sexualise them. what an insane message to teach to a child. i was also bullied quite severely while i was at weatherhead and it was never dealt with in any way, shape or form. bizarre school that doesn't really care about it's students.
Education is very good here but staff and teachers could improve as counselling isn't at standard as they forgot about one of my friends counselling. Safety and security is very good but the indoor environment could improve too as there is graffiti in the toilets. Despite this, the outdoor environment is very good and spacious. Food and meals are restricted if you're on free school meals (can't get certain drinks) but there is lots of extra curricular clubs on offer at break and lunch. Overall I rate the school a 7/10.
The ofsted inspectors were wooed and then led to the best teachers by SLT when they needed to make an assessment. Therefore the ofsted report is not a true reflection of the school. The so-called best teachers were identified by the headteacher (Neil Dyment) well in advance, he personally did regular appraisals. The teacher's schemes of work, lesson plans and marking all had to be up to date otherwise they were encouraged to find alternative employment through psychological bullying. I know this to be true as do other members of staff at the time. I actually heard the methods used for the inspection directly from the headteacher.
I could say so much more; a member of staff who was bullied out because he attended his daughter's wedding on exam results day, even though the headteacher was notified 6 months in advance. There are so many staff who have been unfairly treated, forced to move on or dismissed. I don’t need a job reference from the school anymore so I feel as though I can speak more freely. It feels like therapy to put it in the public domain and get some of it off my chest. I am so tempted to name and shame some of SLT, but I will leave it to karma to prevail.
I would advise avoiding it like the plague if you are thinking of seeking employment at this establishment. It would be the last place on earth I would send my daughters.
It ok but teachers need to let students go to the toilet and it they think they are going to take a long time then give them a not and tell them to be back in 5 minutes and also we should be allowed to use our phones during break and lunch like other schools are allowed to do
This school doesn't have that many accommodations for those with disabilities. All I got was a timeout pass in years 7-11 what I never felt like I needed to use, and extra time in exams which isn't anything when I don't ever need to use it. Half of the toilets are locked.
It's an okay school but the teachers dont treat us like human beings and they teach us things like sexuality instead of actual thing s and teachers only hear one part of the story and a teacher made me cry because she thought that I was nothing
I go to Weatherhead High School, and at first everything was amazing except for Covid. But then I realised after a short amount of time being there how bad the school really was. I was Bullied for over 2 years from Year 7 to 8. I always went home crying and repeatedly informed the school about the situation. I had multiple meetings with the school, but all they would do is give detentions to the students, but that didn't stop them I was attacked by them multiple times and until the 5th time of getting attacked by them, they were suspended for 2 weeks. That helped me for 2 weeks but when they came back all the bullying did too. It was not only until the I brought the police into the situation did the bullying finally stop. I never really stopped getting bullied by people but it wasn't as bad as it used to be. Because some situations that happened in school such as getting attacked people were expelled and removed from my lessons which was the only really good thing the school did for me. Don't get me wrong there are some good things about Weatherhead, such as i get on very well with Most teachers, but some not so much! Another problem with the school is that they Never or very rarely let you go to the toilet or get a drink. I had a very bad bladder so i always walked out to the go to the toilet because i would be on the verge of weeing myself. Which got me in a lot of detentions. But in the end i got a toilet pass which helped because i was allowed to go to the toilet whenever i needed it, but there were some teachers who still refused me to go which then SLT had to collect me as i would be argumentative. Teachers un named but they know who they are. They only did it because the didn't like me. Whenever you get to go to the toilet your like gone ten minutes because you have to run around the whole school looking for a toilet that isn't locked. JUST OPEN THE TOILETS GOD DAMMIT. Mental Health here is very bad and it goes untreated in this school The only person who really helped was my pastoral support worker and my head of year. I suggest that none of your kids should go here unless they want poor mental health.
food isn't the best is cold and pizzas are hard. wedges have hairs on and have to pay extra for sauce and when you buy your food and you don't get a meal they still charge you for one. the food is cold, and they never have the heating on so you freeze they only let years 7 and 8 and 11 in first for lunch and leave years 9 and 10 out for 20 mins so by the time year 9 and 10 go in its all cold and there is just left overs, some days i dont even eat because the food is that disgusting. get better cooks.. wear hair nets. from class unknown
absolute disgrace full of bullies and teachers do nothing
absolute shambles of a so called ofsted high rating school fair enough standards of teaching and good a levels rates and other targets being met but when you have a child at the school coming home cutting themselves and feeling sick cause she cant face going into school, the next day due to bullying is an absolute disgrace there idea of letting my child leave lessons or school 5 mins earlier so she can escape this is like a punishment on her and the bullies are getting to stay there and carry on without a word said about there disgusting ways this school needs a closer looking at
a poorly functioning establishment, would not recommend
as a previous student here. i can speak for myself and lots of other students when i advise not to send your daughters here. whilst the education is decent and the grades that come out of this school are relatively high. there is a lack of support for the students in various different areas such as: mental health, bullying and even educational support. this school seems to have a lack of communication skills when it comes to reasoning with their students and there is a power dynamic at this school that aims to put students down, humiliate them and patronise them. i have personally had many issues with weatherhead regarding hair colour, dress codes and with certain “attitudes”. the staff in this establishment appear to care more about how their students are presenting themselves than their well-being or other issues that may be occurring. there is clear favouritism towards those who should have been disciplined rather than praised, for example, bullies who are thoroughly known through year groups who are given many undeserving opportunities just because of things such as academic achievements. furthermore, there is a basic lack of respect not only from staff but from other students, it is not a positive place for a child to grow up in and will not provide anyone with a good high school experience, this may be an issue with it being a same sex school, however i have seen far too many students develop mental health issues, eating disorders and fear to come to school due to some students who are not put in place despite the schools awareness. there is no general problem with the teachers at this school and most of them are lovely people who offer great support to their students. the issue more so lies within the higher staff who believe they are payed to put their students down to make themselves look and feel better. not only have i had issues with this school, many of my friends have and my parents have as well. despite the oxford ratings which are very much staged, it is a poorly functioning atmosphere and not a positive environment you would want to send your child to in able for them to reach their full abilities in regards to their education.
I was bullied badly throughout the six years I spent at Weatherhead. I left just over a year ago now (as a Sixth Form student) because I was threatened outside of school and they actually did something about it for once. As others here have said, some (by which I mean MOST) of the pastoral workers fail to do a good job and on one occassion I was sent into a lesson with a girl that had just punched me. Meanwhile my friend who she threatened was allowed to be kept out of lesson because she was crying. I was also called a "danger to other students" and escorted to my next lesson early for retaliating verbally when another student had been picking on me and straight up bullying me for months. I don't know anybody who's said they're going to send their child there after telling them about my appauling experience. I seriously wouldn't recommend going to this school unless you have very good mental health or are incredibly unlikely to be bullied.
While the school was under observation for its "world class" status (which is total bs) everybody was told in assembly to be on their best behaviour while the inspectors were round. The school prioritised their favourite students and had them show inspectors around and talk to them (so obviously they were gonna tell them only the best parts of the school because they weren't struggling at all), meanwhile some of the staff didn't care about the students in the lower groups who were left to struggle mentally and work-wise.
Weatherhead also gave out too much homework and some teachers often said when you were behind with homework because you had to focus on a more important subject, "you should be prioritising this lesson over the others" like we only studied one thing and that was their lesson. It was very stressful and caused us to get in trouble with other teachers and get detentions.
Don't use the toilets. They're rank and the supervisors knock on the door to ask who's in there during lessons. Also other students try to kick the doors down and peek through the doors.
Bullying at this school is absolutely Terrible and the teachers are just as bad as the kids. Actually video footage of a teacher walking past a group of girls ganging up one 1 child while they all recorded! Keep you're daughters out of this school, the teachers do not care for the safety or mental wellbeing of your child.
I have never witnessed a school like it, absolutely appalling.
Really struggling with the bullying of my daughter, which has been ongoing for months in this school. There do not seem to be any strategies to deal with the girls involved and no appropriate measures taken to ensure my daughter's safety or wellbeing.
I've missed a vast majority of my high school life because of the bullying I received in school to the point im scared to go in. Food and drinks have been thrown at me, girls barging down the bathroom door and comments based on how I dress outside of school and being asked inappropriate things like to do 'a wrist check. To add to this the school will avoid doing anything to help in order to try to keep their good appearance including sending pupils (like myself) to lessons during panic attacks and more instead of doing anything to help the situation. I am so glad I am no longer a pupil in this school and if I have kids or family members and friends do ill try my best to make sure they don't go to this school because its horrific. Worst experience of my life.
In terms of academics and teachers, for the most part it’s excellent. However, the school is obsessed with reputation and that’s so annoying to all of the pupils. The school has been obsessed with its world class status and for the whole time the school was under observation, the school was “on its best behaviour” if you will. I struggle with newly diagnosed ADHD and half of my teachers were still very pressuring also the fact COVID got in the way didn’t help my progress. It felt like the teachers thought I only studied their subject and their subject only. Even not highly necessary subjects held huge pressure to me as a child with ADHD. However I do highly commend some of the teachers, my English teacher was a much better pastoral than the ones assigned to my year. Bullying is by far the worst in this school. I myself haven’t experienced much of it but my peers have been attacked and or abused by other pupils and the school turns a blind eye most of the time. One thing I will say, again with my ADHD, I had to fight for proper help for my whole time in school and have I received the help? Yes finally, but I’m leaving the school in a few days to move on to collage so they were very late on that and I’ve been there since year seven. And I’ve found in order to revive any good effective help you have to be a pure nuisance to even be noticed otherwise “you’re fine”. This school is good for academic students and people who are really willing to try hard. This school may as well be a grammar school, if anything it’s better than some grammar schools in Wirral. I’ve seen on this site people complaining about dress code? It’s actually quite reasonable. I wear a full face of makeup to school with false eyelashes and I’ve never been pulled up on it ever since year 8. Other schools would send me home. Hair colour, reasonable. nails, reasonable. jewellery, extremely lenient given the fact it’s a health and safety hazard. The only pupils being pulled up on dress code are people who dye their hair very noticeable and almost neon colours. If it’s subtle (like very dark unnatural colour or very light) and that’s just uniform, same for nails. It’s about looking smart. You don’t come to school as a fashion show. I’m an alternative person (gothic, emo, punk, etc) and I come to school expressing myself but SMARTLY. Anywho, I just wanted to explain how good the school CAN be when it wants to but in terms of mental health care, they need more staff or more wider support :)
Do not ever send your daughters here I’m a former student and the amount of bullying that takes place in that school is appalling. What do you hope to achieve for your daughters ? If it was mine a bright future , great studies , time well spent with proper mates not pretend ones . This school offers no support and as a former child in care I was neglected and kicked out as I wasn’t giving there school a good reputation absolutely shocking how a school can discriminate against children in care makes my blood boil please do not send your daughters here if you want them to have a happy and fulfilled school life
The soon is good for education, but other than that it isn't good for much more. There is a lack of support for students with mental health issues, and bullying is a huge issue within the school. Most of the time it is never sorted out unless it is someone from a big group who is quite loud. Teachers whilst well educated are not very good at keeping the class quiet and tend to favourite the bullies of the class.
Although the school achieves high grades the support for students is lacking. Students who struggle to get into school or with mental health issues are genuinely left to try to fend for themselves and bullying is a major issue in this school that often doesn't get resolved. They also don't allow things like certain haircuts or things like bows on socks which shouldn't be an issue as it doesn't affect learning
I go to this school and there are food and bad things. Bullying is common but it is never too bad (from experience). Another bad thing is the dress code. The uniform is pretty and comfortable but we arent allowed to wear nail varnish or dye our hair to express ourselves. However, for education the school is amazing, I've only ever seen a few people fail a class (and it was most likely their fault and not the teachers). We get too much homework also so if your child is bad at keeping up with it, then be prepared to get into trouble
It is a very great school with high education but bullying is an issue, some of the teachers aren’t very well educated in their studies and some drawings around the school are inappropriate. Other than that a very good school with overall very high marks.
