Gone right downhill since that Woodman left. Overall inadequate teaching, more concerned about skirt length than education. Either too strict or just let them all go wild. Even Steyning is better.
This school shows no concern for you or your future. They isolate students over trivial matters, putting on a facade for the adults, but inside the school, they don't truly care. SEN students who have gone undiagnosed are often unfairly labeled as "problem children."
If you send your child here you will make them on the brink of Insanity.
Terrible school. Conveyor belt for kids that may as well have numbers. The teachers see roughly 300 pupils a day. The poor teachers don't stand a chance. They don't know any of the kids names, let alone any disabilities or educational needs. AVOID!
Horrible school. Should have known better when the two boys showing us around said they had been bullied in their first two months and that even though the bullying was bad "don't worry, there's CCTV", but anyway my child was keen and likeable so we didn't think he'd be a target. Boy was I wrong and omg did he get bullied; and it went on and on because it got too much effort for the staff. So many parents have complained and help is variable. They do well with little things if the child is receptive to criticism. They cannot deal with genuine bullying.
Other students have confided in me describing it as "far worse than you can imagine" and "hell." The majority of classes I'm told are disruptive. Even several local therapists said it had a "reputation" and they "see lots of kids from the Weald."
Parents, do you think an Ofsted outstanding from10 years ago is worth it, because Ofsted policy exempts outstanding schools from inspection. But that policy has changed and time will tell. What they will do and are doing now is push and push for attendance and good grades at the expense of the kids mental health, in the hope that inspectors don't care about the state of the most vulnerable students. You won't mind until your child becomes a statistic.
As for the work, it's baffling that homework is often a few ridiculously easy multiple choice questions, and I rarely saw anything marked. There was more thought put into homework in primary. The school reports are also made up of numbers. No personal touch at all and often quite clearly marked in error.
As with all schools, there are good teachers and quite a few outstanding ones, so its not all bad. But even good teachers can't teach a miserable child. Give your child the best years of the life they deserve, and send them somewhere else...
This school is a JOKE. The school doesn't care about you whatsoever. The people that are saying that they were cared about, are either teachers pretending or a very lucky few that got the help they needed. The teachers here are also not the best, I really wanted to have a Job in tech/IT and one of the teachers ruined it for me, I was so excited to take Creative Imedia as a GCSE subject. But instead, I was introduced to the un-planned low paid subject, that uses software from the 2000s. Which is horrible for us and doesn't put a realistic feel for the real world. Thus I have changed my whole future plans. Enough about that, on to the teachers most of them have to be on a list or something like that. They won't leave young girls alone about their skits, they are always checking and STARING at girls just to call them out for a piece of clothing that is "too short" I could go on forever about how bad this school is, but I can't as I have to do the ****tonne of homework they give me. They ruin our mental health. This school needs to be FULLY investigated. And properly
I went here for 5 years and was CONSTANTLY bullied. Despite reporting it it never got dealt with and it got to the point now even being around teens gives me such deep anxiety. The school buses are awful, you get screamed at, hit and shoved by other kids and once a friend of mine got hit in the back of his head by a metal sign and he bled onto the seats. No one was done about this and nothing changed except his parents now drove him to school. Once in a school classroom when the teacher wasn’t looking a boy trapped me in a corner and kept on making lewd comments about me. I had mental health issues and Sh was reported to the school. They couldn’t even get a head of house to talk to me so my form tutor read an random article on sh then came to talk to me instead. Nothing was ever done to help me as the waiting list to talk to someone is 2 years!! I would have left before I got seen. Almost all the advice they give you on revision doesn't help at all and the leadership staff know nothing about teenagers or how to help us.
The only good things I can say about this place is that SOME of the teachers are very nice and kind which helped get me through a very difficult time at this school. If your kid is even slightly different from the norm don’t send them here because it will drain anything that makes them happy or unique as the bullying is merciless.
I had huge issues with bullying that never got addressed despite going with evidence and witnesses. It got so bad in the school busses one of my friends got hit in the back of the head with something metal, and he was bleeding all over the seat. His parents drove him to school for the rest of the year. No one got in trouble for the incident. That is only one story of many. I got good grades but i had so many mental health struggles that no one really helped me with even after it was reported to the school. Some of the teachers are really nice thought and I trust them.
This school is run buy an extremely progressive Communist.
I have been badly bullied since the start of Year 7 - as a result I have suffered severe anxiety and depression to the point I've become numb to emotions. I feel there are few people I've been able to trust in my year, leading to me forming alliances with people in younger years.
A number of my friends have thought about or attempted suicide as a result of how bad this school is. The waiting list for a therapist here is 2 YEARS - which leads to more problems.
They do not support students with aditional needs like myself.
The staff try to indoctrinate students into becoming socialists or communists (which they have NO right to do) and give us very little free time.
The canteen food is always a bit stale - exept the hash browns, which are the only good bit of food offered by the school.
I have learned very little at this school. The teachers aren't great - there are a few really nice and helpful ones but some departments fail to do their job effectively.
The school forces students to walk 17(ish) miles in 4 hours every year as well as being forced to participate in Sports Day. They only care about sports.
At school I smile so I don't have to explain how the school is killing me on the inside.
At the open evening the school boasted about a 10 year old outsanding ofsted rating and then proceeded to to tell everyone that they expell bullies immidiatley and my naieve Year 7 self believed them turns out I was bullied for 3 years straight told teachers every single time and nothing was done other than a warning to leave me alone. EVERY TIME. Honestly they handle bullying better than Trump did COVID. I have now got anxeity and feel deeply hurt by people calling me anything derogatory simply because of the way the bullying never stopped. And don't get me started on the fact that there is a social heirarchy in the school. if you arent popular. you get nowhere. you follow what the popular kids are doing or you get bullied. simple as that. And the school are completey oblivious to this obvious problem. They still put in assemblies that at this school we work together as a community. When i cannot even go in the vicinity of a popular person without being called something bad and shoved aside.
Oh and did I mention that this school has a 2 year waiting list for a therapist. 2 YEARS. there are so many people in the school who feel like they need THERAPY that there is a 2 YEAR wating list for it. If you signed up for that in year 10 you would be gone before they offered you help. 2 years is way too late. Imagine someone who is in dire need of therapy but cannot express it very when which is a common issue and needed someone they can trust and rely on to talk 2 and then being told that they have to wait 2 years. Its too much time.
The school prioritises sports over everything else. They are extremily competetive in sports leagues which is fine but they take it to a point where they put so much effort into it that people who don't do sports feel like they are left out.
escape whilst u can kids- awful 5 years of my life and i 100% lost most of my brain cells. teachers are proper mental and had supply’s half the time lol. mental health is not taken seriously at all. but w**ders was a banging head (miss you xx) what a geezer and the chicken nuggets were class but £2 for 2 like are u mental we went hungry most days main let down really. oh and turned me and the gang into alchys since ur 8
A good school, but the skirts are a big let down they won’t allow the girls to wear the original skirts that I had when I was in year 7. Since ********** has taken over it’s been such a good school.... I
The teachers genuinely care, and are happy to put in extra time after school if you need help. There are a couple of crazy teachers, but they're decent at teaching the subject. The sixth form is really good, and the atmosphere is friendly. I was bullied at a previous school but haven't had that problem here. There's also a lot of support in place for future choices (uni/college). The only thing is the range of A level subjects as it's quite a small school in comparison to nearby places, but if you want the most common ones it's fine.
