If you love your children never send them here. Many people told me I never believe them but when I experienced I learnt a lesson. This school is so much issues . Year 1 teacher abused my child mentally and verbally. They call names as well. They don't encourage or support children at lunch time. They hardly give homework. They don't know how to work with sen children and their safeguarding and senco is unprofessional. She doesn't know her job. Receptionist is bully and hear of school don't pay on attention to emails or complaints. Better to keep children at home because school doesn't want to support children or their family. No partnership work. I even don't give one star.
if ur child wants to come out depressed and bad go to this school.not supportive ESP MR JACKSON HEAD OF YR IN YR7 def won’t listen to ur problems and the punishment is unfair i got my break time and lunch time taken away from defending myself after get cyber bullied not taking seriously they hypocrites they say stuff that they can’t follow like equal rights why should i listen to you if u won’t listen to me .js a bad school in general unsupported teachers and half of them can’t do there job .come here if you wanna feel unsafe
This is a really bad school, I've seen many people come out with depression and anxiety. If you think about sending your child here PLEASE think twice.
Great school it's a little strict sometimes but the teachers care about their students. For example we weren't happy with the food so they changed the whole menu and made it so much better. They also choose a group of student to help choose staff members and who would be good for our school. They make sure you understand in lessons aswell. Also said Mrs weren't happy with the timetable so they changed it. I feel like they care so much about their pupils and it shows despite the fact that some of the teachers are strict.
Also they have the best school trips. Last year the yr 7 went to Lego land. Yr 9 went to adventure Islam and yr 10+11 went to thorpe.park!!!
My experience in this school is quite mixed. There are multiple pros and cons.
I’ll start with the positive parts of this school:
•Very very diverse. Different ethnicities and religions all co-exist. A lot of people from different countries who also speak different languages, so if you aren’t strong in speaking English. There are the older years who will be available to translate and help you. Diversity is a big thing in this school.
•There is a prayer room
•Student Government is active and they listen to students’ pleas. They have a “student voice week” every 2-4 weeks where students get to voice out their dissatisfaction about the school. And the student body tries its best to find a solution.
•multiple clubs
•good grades (I was surprised of how high student grades and achievement is!)
•connections to good universities
•Incredible, helpful and wonderful teachers. Very supportive and engaging.
•Resources are good and they try to provide for students’ needs.
•School councillor/mental health support is decent.
•A lot of lockers for students. Especially for lower years.
•Form time is very productive.
•Food is decent. There is a Halal and vegetarian option.
•There is an elevator.
•Multiple connections to work experience.
•Massive art room!!
•Wide range of subject options.
•Parking lot and a drop off zone to ensure pupils are safe when getting out of their cars.
•Good facilities.
It is a wonderful institution, however. I do think it has multiple negatives:
•Students (and some teachers) are anti LGBTQ+ Blatantly or indirectly. I’ve experienced multiple homophobic interactions.
•School system is so strict. Not much room for freedom and self-expression. They discipline students way too much that it has caused most to not express themselves at all.
•Strong competition between students when it comes to grades caused students to become VERY divided.
•School isolation (they call it PLR) lasts from 9 am to 5 pm. For “problematic” pupils. I know all schools have this but after experiencing it. It is very unproductive, students miss out on classes/school content/pupil interactions. They are not treated well and are sometimes scolded for wanting to go to the toilet. Its a whole day of just staring at blank space in silence.
•If you are atheist/agnostic/Wiccan or anything similar. Most students won't listen to your opinions about religion. If you express that you do not believe in God or respectfully do not believe in their religions, they go haywire. They will not accept any opinion/view that is not of their own. Very dogmatic mindsets.
•I see multiple emotional breakdowns in a week. Pupils are very stressed. Some students went as far as describing it as “selling your soul for good grades”.
•A lot of the male students are quite sexist. They are not directly showing it. However, their sexist comments are often implicated or indirect. Some conversations I’ve heard are troubling.
•Most of the students base their self-worth on their grades due to how the school focuses mostly on academic grades.
