Please do not send your children to this school. They are not safe here. Huge staff turnover, I've spoken to staff members past and present and they all speak very poorly of the way this school is managed. SEN children are labelled as naughty and needs are not met, they only care about children who exceed. Please do not send your children here!
The teachers are useless. They allow for bullying and dont even discipline their students especially if they're boys. During my time here, Ive seen kids in my year be assaulted, spat on, pushed, called racial and homophobic slurs, some boys would talk openly about wanting to rape/SA other students and what did the school do .nothing. I was continuously harassed in the last few months of attending here, disgusting things were said and done to me. i went to my head of year for help and support and he did nothing to actually help actually he said he couldn't and it wouldn't be considered bullying when multiple disgusting things had happened to/towards me and he only saw these things as separate when they were done by the same people. f**king stupid . and it continued until i left. it drove me to self harm and contemplate suicide. If you want your children to have crippling mental health problems and low self esteem W*ingels is the school for you!!
i constantly get called slurs and all the head of year does is sit us down to talk. they also tell my mum everything if anything happens. horrible school.
The school only offered exam support to students predicted grades 7-9. These ‘special’ students got a place to study and passes to skip the lunch queue. When my mental health was declining the support I got was 6 school counsellor appointments which caused more harm than good, allowing me to self sabotage by dropping a gcse when I should’ve been referred extra help or medical help with my mental state. They also didn’t allow me to take the A level subjects I chose even when I achieved the grades needed as the classes where full of students with higher grades. The school only focuses on the high achievers, average students are ignored and offered minimum support.
I recommend Waingels because they have a really good SENCO. She is really great at coming up with strategies to help students who might find school challenging.
As a student who is part of the LGBTQ+ community and is non-binary the school still doesn't put any thought into the community or students who are like me in school besides a club but not real rules or education past that so homophobic students just get away with it
