I had a mixed experience at this school. While I appreciate the effort they put into enhancing my learning, there were a few areas that could be improved. The staff are kind and friendly, but they didn't quite understand my question about halal food. They told me it had marshmallows instead!
Food-wise, I found it to be a bit pricey - £1 for a single cookie-like item seems steep when you can get a pack of 5-10 similar cookies at ASDA for £1-£1.20.
Overall, [Name of place] is still a great place to learn and make friends. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are always willing to help. With some tweaks to their food options and customer service, they could really shine.
keep up the good work!!!!
Miss sodawala is extremely rude to my daughter being sarcastic and arrogant about her hay fever forcing her to stay back behind class without letting her sort out herself and get a hay fever tablet and clean her eyes all she did was ask politely this teacher is rude !!!!
Some teachers are acceptable, however, most focus mainly on the students who are excelling in classes, rather than the ones who need the help. I had been moved to a higher set in maths mid year - I had no knowledge on the topic that this particular set were on, and after 3 years of asking for extra maths tutoring to catch up with my new peers, I was brushed off every time and this resulted in me failing my maths GCSE. In addition to this, some teachers were incredibly ignorant and downright disrespectful...one of which removed me from the classroom and proceeded to scold me for reacting to severe menstrual pains and nausea, he then proceeded to tell me that "every other girl has to deal with it." The headteacher and administrators, are also incredibly careless, an example of this would be the fact that Unsworth Academy also ended up on multiple news articles, including Manchest Evening News, for forcing students to eat in the rain.
The school definitely over works students when it comes to GCSE's, so much so, that if you didnt get revision done for one class, on top of 4 other classes, you'd be punished depending on your teacher and told "you should have revised." The school claims to care for student mental health, though in my 5 years of attending, I have never once seen them actually contribute to helping a student, not even when students spoke up about the stress that had taken a toll on their well being. The school, for some reason, thinks that an assembly on mental health and bullying will put an end to it; that from what I've seen is the only contribution this school offered.
I'd also like to note, before you think about sending you child here, that this schools form of punishment is sitting you in a small room they call an "isolation unit." This room fits only 1 single desk on each side of the room and 2 more behind them. The staff that monitor this room are also poor when it comes to students with "disabilities." One teacher in particular who refused to listen to 3 of us telling her that the student she was telling to 'shut up' had ADHD. This is yet another example of disrespectful teachers within this school.

They offered zero solution and basicslly told us to suck it up. The school, for some reason, thinks that an assembly on mental health and bullying will put an end to it; that from what I've seen is the only contribution this school offers. I'm unsure if the higher ups in the school were aware of any of this, or if they just chose to ignore it, especially with the carelessness they show. They had already ended up on news articles etc for forcing students to eat outside in the rain. Similar to this, teachers set up clubs, for students who didnt have many friends, to go to during lunch so they werent sat alone etc - regardless of why these clubs were set up, the headteacher closed them all, forcing the students outside. They have lunch tables etc, and yet refused to let the students stand and eat inside. It has been a little over a year aince I attended, so I am unsure of how things are now, though I cant imagine it is any different.
Some teachers were nice and genuinely wanted to help the students where as a majority of them would treat the students poorly, made us eat outside in the rain when restrictions were still in force. They don't do anything about bullying, making children fear coming to school, the most they do is give the bully a detention and they don't provide any support when a child needs it or when a child is suffering from mental health. They don't consider what someone might be going through at home and only want them to focus on school despite how bad it is at home. The school itself and the environment was good and lovely, very modern but some of the teachers have ruined my highschool experience. One teacher who I won't name was very sexist about a girl being on her period and another tried accusing the class of being Racist because majority of the Asian kids usually hang out together rather then the others. Not an environment I'd want my child in, I'd want my child to have as much support as I can.

I had an email from a head of year staring my child had the full support of her friends she didn’t need a mother or a family!
Unreal and unbelievable! Appalling school!
