I'm in year 10 taking my GCSEs next year and I'm currently taking Spanish, RE and Hospitality and catering, not my first option, I was denied my first option because there wasn't enough people for it to be a full class, when the sixth form classes have less people than what picked my first option.
Secondly, teachers don't seem to always have control over classes, especially since they have introduced the 10 golden rules, not there best plan. the rules don't cover half the issues that happen during lessons, everything that is on the golden rules list should be a given when in a class room environment, so I feel we need to have the old ATL system back, that way no one is confused, he vast majority of the school was there while the ATL system was in place.
Thirdly the school have seem to have invested over the last couple of weeks, in new hot drinks mugs for all the teachers, when most teachers already have there own, new door mats for both halls, pointless expense when most teachers don't have spear pens or glue sticks for anyone who needs to borrow them.
Lastly, last school year they trailed having no planners, didn't work, so they brought them back, we have to have the same on for the whole year. I have people in my classes, boys mainly, who go to the toilet every lesson, and there is no way teachers can stop them from doing so, in past years we've had 15 toilet passes for a term, most people don't even go and now there is no limit to how many times you go, the ladies who monitor the toilets record toilet trips throughout lesson time and many people get by this rule by forging toilet passes, and using them to go to the toilet and meeting there friends and going on there phones because of course 14/15 year olds cant go seven hours without there phones.
Can't even smoke a fatty in the toilets. Don't know why drugs aren't even bad ey. Bunch of old people telling me that smoking a good bit of the "crystal" is bad for ya health but I don't believe it for a second ey. 1 star from me.
I can commend UCC for my wonderful RE and music teacher.
However I had an art tutor that told me that I would fail my GCSE with him because I was unwilling to use his idea, yet I left with an A.
I was bullied throughout the entirety of my school life at ullswater, parents were ringing constantly. The school did nothing to help. Just gave the bullies a stern look and let them go on their merry way to do it again to myself and other students. I suffered with a lot of mental health problems, which with the bullying didnt improve. So whenever I had to go to the student service area to report I had passed out or was ill, they would brush it off and send me back to class.
To add to this, there was a group of girls in my GCSE french class who would deliberately get IEU'd to disrupt the lesson. Although this was not at all the tutors fault, infact she was lovely. There was no assistance available to her. So every single lesson we would be unable to get work done because she would be dealing with the more complicated students.
It really is ashame, they have some lovely tutors. But I would never reccomend UCC to anyone.
Has a awsome celebration day filled with celebrities like Union J or corrination Street stars or Justin beiber.
They have a good RE corner once a year with different things like a escape room ideas
They also do a good chip Friday and pizzanies in westmorland Hall
The teachers are normally good to talk too about anything until they are in a mood with someone which ends up them in a mood with everyone else
One of the English teachers known as Ms hope she is a nice teacher especially fun until we all left to another school in Yr 10
Music was rubbish especially all ur allowed to touch is the pianos
But over all its a great school 🙂
