Prison of a school

I am a student here and it is a living hell. The teachers here are horrible and always single out certain students which they get mad at every single lesson. They do not care about our mental health and only care about getting high marks on exams. There are multiple teachers who have done questionable things such as one of them standing up for a pedo in a book who tried to force himself on an underage girl. Every time somebody brings up this prison I get so stressed out because I hate it here so much. I know I am not the only one who feels this way because there are things like "I hate school" and "TWGGS makes me want to die" written on the toilet walls. They only care about Ofsted and one time when Ofsted was here a teacher was shouting at a student then she stopped when an inspector sat in for a bit and then started shouting again once the inspector was gone. The teachers say cruel things to students on a daily basis such as "your mum would be disappointed in you." Most of the students are a copy and paste of the same basic person so anybody slightly different will feel like an outcast and will get treated that way by the rest of the students, and the teachers don't do anything about the bullying even though they say they do. A lot of the teachers are very fake happy and optimistic and it is stupid because you can clearly tell they are faking and that they are only in it for the long holidays off work or maybe it was the only job that would hire them because they are such disgusting people. Also be prepared to be given lots of detentions as once somebody was given detention just for holding something even though it is an allowed item at school and she hadn't been told to put it down before. Some of the buildings were supposed to be temporary but they have been up for 60 years, which I know because they constantly joke about it but it isn't very funny because there are holes in the classroom ceilings. DO NOT COME HERE.

not bad learning but the people are questionable

hi so I go here and the teachers only care about grades and good ofsted and things like that. they don't care one bit about getting bullied (from experience, the teachers don't care). instead of giving you help with any academic struggles they will just embarrass you and make you feel dumb. (One of the teachers called my friend dyslexic without knowing that she actually is). The teachers will yell at you, I've seen people cry from being shouted at. I was doing a religious studies lesson and the teacher who was teaching the lesson said christianity isn't real and made it clear to everyone that he thought it was a fairytale. The people in charge of picking sides in fights and "resolving them" only believe the girls who suck up to them. One of my other friends was getting picked on for being autistic and the head sided with the girls making fun of her. All of my friends have cried with me and told me that they wanted to die because of this school and the people in it. They even put suicide locks on the windows! the education aspect is quite good but I can't really say much because I've been bullied by the teachers. the food is quite nice actually! overall if you have high self esteem and know you can handle a lot then maybe its worth looking into this school! if you are quite a sensitive person like I am then its probably worth looking at all of your options, altogether its not a bad school education-wise but if you are sensitive it might be a bit harder to handle.

Good for high achieving students

This school is excellent for already high achieving students.
Lessons are taught thoroughly by mostly excellent teachers.
Lack of non academic opportunities and recognition for non academic achievement.
Students have a lot of pressure placed on them academically without mental health care available to every student.
This school will probably give you good grades but the overall school experience could be better.
Some great school trips take place and communication with parents is excellent all round.
This school is definitely an excellent choice if your child is high achieving and copes well under pressure!

So far a great time.

I really love it here, I moved from a mixed comprehension to here in sixth form and so far I've loved the experience. It's been a great working environments with a far greater focus on mental health than my old school, and during covid times where my year groups isolating it's beven really good with the online schooling, even though I'm not in school I'm still not feeling like I'm missing out. All the students have been so friendly and I'm so glad that I chose to come here, and nearly every other new student I've spoken to has also been so glad they've moved here.

Good grades bad mental health

Huge pressure on students to get As and A*.
Lack of flexibility.
Don’t care about students well-being at all, only the grades they are getting.

You will get top grades (especially at gcse) but it’s mainly due to student’s already being high performing. Exams are the focus not learning about a subject.

Can be a really good school if you’re very mentally robust and have high self esteem. Otherwise can just be very demoralising, and a lack of sports opportunities or activities outside academia.
