Trinity School has educated all 4 of my children and they have grown into kind, considerate, aspiring young people who can navigate adulthood in a confident and successful way. My eldest children are studying pharmacy and medicine at university whilst the youngest have excelled at maths and art respectively. Each child has had their needs met in a different way and they have thrived knowing that they are part of a loving community.
I currently have 2 children at the school, and couldnt recommend it highly enough. It's a small secondary with both exceptional pastoral support and high quality teaching staff. The school has transformed over the last 18m or so, and has regained its warmth and inclusive community feel. Students are encouraged and supported to be their best selves and aim high, school leadership is clear, consistent and stable. Staff and pupils all know each other, and are addressed by name at each interaction which creates a sense of belonging. Engagement and communication with parents is stronger than it has been in a long time. The school has undeniably been through a difficult phase , but things are very different now and the latest Ofsted visit recognises and praises the changes that have been made in a very short space of time.
An amazing school that knows and cares for their pupils. Staff regularly go beyond the call of duty and are acutely aware of the strengths and needs, both personal and academic, of each individual pupil. My daughter is in year 9, and as a Pastoral Lead at my own school, I am so impressed with the support that she receives at Trinity. Every child is supported and challenged on their academic journey in order to ensure outstanding progress. My son also attended Trinity, and after achieving incredible GCSE and A level results, he is at university following his passion that was encouraged so much during his time there. The transformation that has occurred in the past 2 years is commendable, and a tribute to every member of the Trinity community.
I've been a parent at Trinity for 4 years now and both boys LOVE the school. There have been massive improvements and changes in the last 2 years so unless people have experience of the 'new' Trinity, views will be to some extent uninformed. All schools have their issues but Trinity works really hard to nips things in the bud and to work with parents and children. In general, staff are approachable and know the kids well
There are also some exceptional humans and teachers there who my boys feel safe and cared for by. Both my children have additional needs (deaf and visual processing issues) and both boys are thriving and achieving. There have been issues, of course, there are in most schools, but I have been happy with how issues have been dealt with. Lots of extra curricular activities too, including sport, music, plays and trips. My boys are very happy there and I would make the same choice for them again.
My 2 daughters attend the school on Year 11 and 9 and we have had a great experience all the way through. My daughter really struggles and gets so much pastoral support and they also have an assistant psychologist who my daughter see once a week. The staff know all the children well and always available to answer questions or deal with issues.
I would absolutely recommend Trinity Catholic School. My daughter is in year 9 and is thriving, she loves the school and teachers. It is a smaller school and the staff have time for the students. They take time to get know each student and adapts the learning if it needed. The pastoral team are second to none. This is a school that cares and makes sure the students feel safe which makes a great environment for them to learn. My advice is that you should ignore the comments made from people that know nothing about the school as it is now. The past is in the past leave it there let's look to the future.
I've been a parent at Trinity for 6 year now and both my children have really flourished in their time at Trinity. The new headteacher is wonderful and all of the teachers really care about my children. Trinity is more like a community or family than just a school
Recently went for an induction with my partner and step daughter I school was In a poorly kept state very dirty in all areas might want to invaste in a decent cleaning company loads of student's in reception for fighting waiting to be told off lady doing the show round gave very little advice on subjects student's do there and didn't seem to have much to say and ofted report I'd only good, good is good enough for my child outstanding say alot more for a school my step daughter will not be going there
Used to a be a really good, kind and accepting school but since dramatic changes in management and senior leadership it’s turned into a bit of a nightmare school. As an ex-student I have endless stories on how the school heavily pushed its conservative, hyper-Christian agenda onto us e.g. sending in anti abortion advocates to tell young girls that it is murder or priests who said gay was not ‘the path God has for you’. The school has sold out its ethos especially now as it’s joined a group of multiple Catholic academies.
Another huge problem for the school is it’s terrible communication. The teachers were awful at communicating with each other as well as parents and students. They make senseless quick decisions that you then have to amend yourself, for example changing the tier of your exam weeks before you sit your GCSE.
The school constantly attempts to put random guidelines and rules in, these last a few weeks but then eventually die out as staff become reluctant to enforce them.
The school is also struggling with mass vaccines and has been for years, leading the school to place teachers into subjects they have no knowledge of, this is especially prominent in its Art department.
The art used to be amazing but since the departure of both it’s art teachers the school has failed to up keep the level of art they once had. The senior leadership fails to see the department as fundamental so puts next to no funding into it anymore. The head of department is a design technology teacher with no experience teaching art.
Many of the teaching staff (not all) are extremely negative and make no effort to motivate students.
The school has no where near enough support for struggling students as to my knowledge they never replaced the previous support worker. I personally came to a member of the senior leadership team with concerns about covid guidelines being changed within the school a week before my GCSES and was met with the response that not everything what about my year and my needs.
The leadership team often doesn’t support its own staff enough when they are obviously struggling.
The only positive I could think of was that bullying wasn’t especially prominent within the school and members of teaching staff did make efforts to prevent it.
The school doesn’t know it’s students anymore and makes little effort to discover their needs.
These issues don’t even cover the extent of its problems.
This school is sexist, derogatory and close minded. They don’t listen to the students and only care about money. Trinity used to be a good school, but has quickly gone downhill. Students are miserable and teachers are forced to follow rules in fear of loosing their jobs. It is an ego-tripping, power hungry place and I would not recommend coming here
First of, I’d like to say that it is a Catholic school and will teach its religion to you. Next I’d like to say that quite a few of the teachers are brilliant amazing people who deserve more than this school. The people who run Trinity are severely out of touch with adolescents and the current world.
