I was a student at Tring School and the lack of support there was is beyond me. They locked the toilets and they were only open during break times, don’t even get me started on that you can imagine how uncomfortable that made students feel. I was bullied to the point my mental health was so poor and I’m still trying to cope with it all now. Along with bullying, I was sexually harassed and when it was raised to the school, what did they do? They put the student in isolation for one day and then put them back in the same class as me the next day. All they care about is lengths of skirts and some teachers walk round with skirts as high as the sky, not setting a very good example. It’s safe to say I’m pretty traumatised from Tring School and got out of there as soon as I could. Wouldn’t recommend and this is coming from student experience. Also they are understaffed (not surprised) majorly meaning I had history and science teachers covering my PRS lessons for example! I practically taught myself most of the information that I needed to know for my GCSE’s.
This school seems to care far more about the Kids uniform and how they look then their actual learning and education, my child came home from school annoyed telling about peers being sent into isolation for a waistband or an untucked shirt which seems ridiculous to be missing out on learning for those reasons. Not happy about this.
I am usually quite calm with these situations but this is not good! Children being taken out of lesson because the distance in the pleats on the skirt are wrong distance apart? Even male teachers looking at the skirts? Appalling so many students could be working towards GCSES and good things in life instead of getting in trouble for a plain black M&S school skirt! I had all 3 of my kids home distressed (even one in tears). They say it’s school policy but aren’t bothered when it comes to bullying ect… Do not recommend this school unless you enjoy this behaviour from grown adults. The education is also appalling very big lack of staff! And the ones that are hired are either rude, ignorant or don’t have a clue what they’re doing! There is cameras but in toilets??? Really? Just why? I get it points to the sink areas but still seems wrong to me. The building is new but corridors seem slim easy for a younger year to be shoved. Outdoors is simple and outdated. The canteen food gave my daughter food poisoning. (The chicken wrap)
Pretty shocking if you ask me. My daughter came home from school in floods of tears today due to uniform/ skirt standards, the school had sent out an email earlier in the summer stating what skirts were allowed and what was not( when buying her skirt, I took this into consideration as they specified what shops were not permitted to buy uniform from- I chose the new-look pencil skirt) how ever she got put in “isolation” for the day as the skirt was not permitted! School can’t even stick to their own rules, how ridiculous. To put this in comparison, the school cares more about what you’re wearing than your education! If they could i reckon they would knock down marks on your gcses for your skirt having a too thick waist band (another example of why people were sent to isolation). Do not recommend unless your happy for your child to be treat appallingly.
Amazing school, its very easy to get around although it may seem like a large school. Its a well presented school with very nice uniform.
Teachers are very friendly and well understanding but when they have a bad day then they will take it out on the students.
You will get push and shoves when walking the corridors due to the older years thinking theyre superior, although when you get slammed into a locker then teachers wont say anything about it.
