Sport is good but behaviour system is absolutely stinky, teachers hand things out differently, for example some have many warnings before a first behaviour point but some give them out like sweets.
In general, a good school. Where they really excell is pushing the best and the brightest to reach their potential, however they aren't the best at supporting students who are falling behind (although alot of the individual teachers are verry good at this). If you really struggle academicaly this isn't the school for you, after all it is a grammar school.
Im gay, and out in my school, and have never had any problems with bullying or homophobia. No one really cares, and of course people make jokes but always with good intentions.
I much prefered my experience in the 6th form compared to lower school, due to the fact you are treated more like an adult.
The school itself Is really good, the teachers are really suportive and don't care who you are, however at times the student body comes across as kind of homophobic and racist. At first I thought people were just joking around but as I process through the school it worries me that some of this is people's genuine view and I don't know wether I am in with a bad year but it is in my opinion something the school needs/must tackle in the coming years, we have had pshe days however none of them have really covered sexual identity, we had one sheet were we had to match sexualities to their description, but that's not enough we need to have like two philosophy lessons almost debunking lies about sexuality and that love is love. However the teachers are great and most form tutors are really supportive
Really good school, you get out what you put in. Behavioural system can be rather confusing and strange, with over the top punishments for minor things occasionally. Staff are generally nice and know their subject matter extremely well. Facilities are beginning to show their age in comparison to some other schools in the area, but still workable and relatively well laid out.
All in all, I wouldn't change the time I've spent there.
Some teachers are good, some are bad. The behaviour system is messed up and won’t help your children in any way. The grades, their good for the smart people but as soon as you slip behind your going to be forgottten.
Great teachers are mostly very kind and supportive. There is a great atmosphere and the teachers feel mostly approachable and bullying is low and completely intolerable. Great school
