Most appalling school ever! This school is run like a prison, and only cares about how it looks on paper!!! It doesn't give a second thought about it students mental health and wellbeing.
Students get detentions for the most stupidest things,
like pick up a cm twig of the floor at play time and then dropping it back on the floor!
Playing to loudly with your friend ( God for bid you have happy students) at play time.
Detention for not bringing a book to school for reading! ( yet this wasn't mentioned to parent's that one was required!) Instead of letting a students borrow one or get one from the library! I know tollbar let's punish them!!! (Prison)
Detention for not bring p.e kit!! When my son was signed off from doing P.E as he was getting over a nasty chest infection! The school still expected him to change into P.E kit and sit outside in the cold!!!! What do you get some kind of gratification out of treating students in such away!!!! What is it you think this is actually teaching them!!! As it is teaching them to respect the teacher!!! As I as a mother would respect someone treating me this way!!!!
Phone to give 30mins notice that I had to collect my son, as my husband had been in an accident and I need to go to the hospital! When I arrived at the school I had to wait a further 45mins in the reception as the lady on reception just kept emailing the class and no one was answering!!! It was as though it was a burden to her! I was fumming!
Trying to get anyone from the school to call you back is a joke! It was easier for the Americans to find Osama bin Laden than get a call back from any of the teachers!
Makes students eat there lunch in the poring rain on the field! (massive control power trip going on with staff there)
I could go on and on about this school, it has far to many students and the staff rule by fear and punishment!
They expect the up most respect from there students, but don't teacher the how respect is actually earned!
I would love to know just how many happy young kids join this school at year 7 with no mental health issues! But had massive mental health issues when leaving.
I attended this school and it was awful. When I started getting bullied they did nothing. The bullying escalated quickly and I found myself a victim of sa on multiple occasions . The school was unresponsive to the situation however when they got involved and investigated it they gave the other students a lunch detention and that is all they did. While all of this was happening I was unable to go to or near a school for 18 months and they told me that I had to leave the school. Leaving me with no form off education and a fear of school
My son is attending Tollbar Academy and I regret making this choice. Tollbar is a dictatorship school and wants to make you all feel the same. They don't let you go to the toilet, and the teachers are just beyond rude. Mr Whittle has ruined this school and made it like this, and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Tollbar has turned into a bad school, Mr whittle want everyone to worship him and bow in front of him
I think this school is a joke, they don’t help with bullying or safeguarding their students from anything especially with students bullying each other, all the teachers care bout is grades and act like they “perfect school,” they need closing down completely
The most tragic school ever in history, PE teachers be like, "its wet but its not cold" yet they are the ones who are standing there doing absolutely nothing and they're standing there with around 5 puffy coats whereas the kids are there running around not only in shorts and a thin T-shirt, but also doing all this in heavy rain and practically thunder if its even bad enough. This school needs help fast
Since this new principle has come to Tollbar everything has just gone downhill from there, can’t sit inside at lunch and are told to go outside even if it’s raining. Teachers and especially a couple of the receptionists are so rude to students and don’t let them go to the toilet. And the food is disgusting, the dough on the pizza isn’t even cooked or is burnt the chicken literally smells like something my Nan would give to her dog no joke, and you might as well forget it if you want a pasta pot, you have to pay extra for sauce and other toppings, honestly ridiculous. And this whole thing with standards detentions, if you’re 4 minutes late you have to stay behind after school for 30 minutes and parents aren’t told, plus some students have to go from one side of the school to the other… in 4 minutes, it’s impossible. And don’t get me started with bullying, literally do nothing about it at all and it either gets worse or carry’s on as it was. And the weird obsession with shoes and trousers, some parents can’t afford to buy another pair of decent school shoes or trousers. Plus boys will wear tight trousers and teachers will turn a blind eye but oh no if a girl wears trousers that aren’t baggy and falling off her she gets put in unit which is quite sexist. Also some PE teachers are unreasonable, year 9 hammering it down with rain and couldn’t feel my fingers but was still told to do basketball and if I didn’t participate we would spend even longer outside, when we finally came back in my arms and legs were purple because of how cold I was.
Very glad that I’ve finally left Tollbar, wouldn’t recommend anyone go to that horrific school.

The new principal at this school has completely ruined it
They have introduced new rules and policies that are over the top and the only way to talk about it safely and not to get expelled is on this site
First of all if a teacher sees your shirt untucked you get a 30 min 'standard' detention
Next is the time limits, you get 4 minutes to go in-between classes which is pretty fair, however they don't always make us go the long way round following the 'oNe WaY SySteM' which takes 2 minutes of your time, then you can get stuck in a crowd on the stairs or in the corridors which takes another minute, its just ridiculous that they control where we walk,
Also when i first joined there was 3 food stalls, which means roughly a 5 min wait
But now we all have to funnel into 2 side by side queues which mean there constantly pushing, and I'm personally claustrophobic so its really difficult touching 4 people at the same time while getting pushed against a wall, then once you finish that line there's 3 more lines inside (separate thankfully) 2 hot food and 1 cold, but what's the point waiting for 10 mins outside back to back with people, just to do it again, but once you have your food there's like 10mins left of the 45 minutes
Overall it is a crappy school and we are forced to go into that hellhole for 6 hours a day for 5 days just to get 5 hours worth of homework
TLDR
The principal sucks, the standard detentions suck, the food queue sucks, the school sucks
Shit school don’t care abt mental health or if u have your own opinions you carnt have trouser that you can buy in shops cuz if the stupid uniform rule and oyu feel unsafe walking home as your not allowed your phone.
currently a year 11 student who struggles with bad mental health, have tried talk about it to a teacher but they told me it’s nothing to worry about it and i’m being dramatic. this made me feel very invalid and i failed a test i had later that day. instead of my teacher (who taught the lesson the test was on) asking me if i need help, she shouted at me infront of everyone and told me i either stay in this set or get out the class. i’ve never felt so embarrassed or disappointed in my life.
