im autistic with adhd and while i was not diagnosed at the time they put me through hell i backchatted my maths teacher i get put in iscolation for a month and when i called my one to one worker a bitch they suspended me for 2 days it got so bad to the point where i was cut down to half days and had to walk home no matter the weather the nicest person there was the librarian this only stopped when my mother made me go to another school {i also have multiple friends who got bullied non stop and the school did nothing about it }
As someone who has been at this school from year 7 and have just left now in year 11, wow there has been a lot of changes and some not for the better
When I started in year 7 things were going great, sure there was a little bit of bullying but it all got dealt with pretty quickly so thank you Miss Thompson!
Unfortunately lockdown struck that year and a girl in my year unfortunately committed suicide during lockdown, lockdown itself went great apart from that particular event, all the way up to year 10 we did something in her memory on her death anniversary
In year 8 things were still ok, kinda rocky due to lockdown but still ok
In December 2020 in year 8 I unfortunately suffered a seizure in the classroom, I’d been going to medical a lot due to aches and pains and I’d always been turned away as they thought it was down to puberty even though I hadn’t started my periods yet (In year 7 they turned me away for nurovirus, they admitted on the phone to my mum saying that I looked pale but didn’t bother to ring mum or send me home which resulted in me being quite poorly for days)
The school maths team supported me and my seizure as well as my TA, this was my first ever seizure, the medical team not so much though, they rang 111 instead of 999 and told mum they didn’t think it was that urgent
The school got letters from the council after the hospital reported them
I was kept a close eye on after that and went to medical if any auras occurred
In year 9 I was finally diagnosed with Epilepsy, again if any auras occurred they sent me to medical to calm down, that’s when I got my first and second councillors, one in school and one out of school
I had regular hospital and doctors appointments, unfortunately I fell sick and had an overnight hospital visit, after this I went at least 2 weeks with no school and they put it on my attendance as not being a valid absence…..
In year 10 I got my new head of year, it’s safe to say that she didn’t understand me at all and especially since I had mood swings and sometimes bad behaviour due to me finally getting my periods and being so worked up about my Epilepsy diagnosis, I was labelled as a problem child and as someone who needed extra behavioural help, in this time I had quite a few issues with a few teachers so I mostly acted up in their lessons, got sent out of class a lot and everything was my fault….
It was quite a hard year with MOCKS and stuff like that but towards the end of the year I improved but only with a few slip ups every now and again
In year 11 the head of year still had me down as a problem child who was blamed for everything
GCSES were on the way and I tried to knuckle down and concentrate to get my grades, I caught up pretty well from either being away from school or being sent out, the teachers who I originally had issues with had either left or I had swapped classes and teachers to make me feel more comfortable and confident in lessons, safe to say it worked!
The few “slip ups” that I was having turned into a daily habit where my head of year would always find an issue to drag me into wheather that was something I had posted online, a post on my blog about Epilepsy or something else
She threatened to get my petition taken down and another member of staff had accused me of faking my seizures to get time from school, these two things I’ll always remember because it just hurt too much
The thing that made me slip up sometimes was that I needed to phone my mum but due to the no phones rule even at breaks anymore and the toilet doors being taken away made me slip up even more because my head of year never let me speak to my mum if I had an issue and the medical team always pulled my head of year into the room to shout at me to go back to my lesson, it turned into me getting my phone out in class to just text my mum and it was never over anything silly or petty, general things such as panic attacks, auras of seizures and general issues such as personal problems and bullying
One of the bullying incidents was that a girl had texted me things telling me to d*e from a seizure and the head of year brushed it off as “she was just joking” THIS IS NOT A JOKE AT ALL!!!!
Another incident was that I sent a funny link to a classmate and the head of year pulled me aside and told me to not send passive aggressive links, I sent her a link of pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows?!?!
Last incident which I was totally annoyed with by how it was sorted (not) was with a girl who was also being nasty about my Epilepsy, I was accused of faking the messages from WHATSAPP, I showed my mum in real life, it was crystal clear as they were pictures taken from my MUMS phone from my phone!!!!
The head of year said “Your only reporting this because your guilty of faking these yourself, stop getting others into trouble because we all know that your behind this”
That was the last straw
I’m pleased that I survived Todmorden High School and I wouldn’t say it’s the best school in the world but they did serve me well especially Miss Thompson, Miss Maude, Miss Kewin and I would name the rest but it would take me too long….
They did do a care plan for my Epilepsy so they didn’t act asif they didn’t care although I had another seizure in school and the teacher ignored the whole class trying to get her attention and she ended up standing on my head before she said “oh sh*t”
Apart from that I had a fairly eventful experience at this school, all I’d say is that please medical train your staff and please don’t blame people who have general difficulties for making trouble because it will make them worse and I know this through being in the ARCH room before
If you don’t enjoy Todmorden High School however then please find a different school to go to before it’s too late (I don’t recommend transferring schools after year 9 has finished due to different curriculums and classes)

Hi my name'sathe I am a year 7 at this school with bad angerishues and bad ADHD so on the Friday
5th July 2024 I had been grabbed by Emily ralinson because I because I don't have my blazer and me with ADHD I got anger and I said can you let go and she said no and then forcefully stared pushing me into a room called medical and then I got locked in it into the end of the day .
Both my children enjoyed Todmorden High School, my 13 year old daughter is currently at the school and is thoroughly enjoying it she says the teachers are kind, caring and understanding!
Tod high is a good school. Some teachers are amazing and have helped me come along way. Others not so much. The lines are really long and some kids don't have time to eat (especially if they have a lunch time dt). Bullying is dealt with very quickly and efficiently. Toilets are quite bad and sometimes not allowed to go even with a pass because no teachers will open them for you. I also think that uniform is way to strict like not allowed to have shirts untucked, ties a certain length. Overall decent school. Some amazing teachers
I go there and it's terrible. There's always kids fighting and some teachers are really hypocritical and creepy. You dont learn that much and some teachers are really cool but most of them question how they get hired one time my maths teacher thought there were 8 days in a week what??
I’m a student in yr7 and Tod high. I think there could be many improvements. First off most of the time I don’t get dinner as the lines are so long and the food is rubbish anyway, and in most lessons I don’t learn anything. Staff don’t care about the children
The teachers are horrible. The bathrooms are full of mould and spiders. There's no soap in the soap dispensers. The food is sometimes uncooked or have mould. They don't allow piercings, nails or lashes not even painted nails. Your not aloud to show your ankles as it is apparently attractive to boys. Not aloud any tight fitting skirts and it has to be at your knee.
Finished year 11 earlier this year. As much as I joke about the arch zone it really was a good school with some cracking teachers. School dinners? Well what did you really expect, not great but not inedible (usually). Overall pretty good apart from the toilets being locked all the time and the timetable format changing whenever they felt like it.
I am a student in year 7.The school is good because of the students. Some of the teachers are ok but others can be quite rude. The ques for dinner are stupidly long and some people can't eat lunch and have to throw it in the bin before form. The food doesn't taste good either. The bathrooms can be quite disgusting and I don't think that they should be locked because of certain people damaging property, some people need to go urgently and it's not the best. Bullying is dealt with great and quickly. The work is good for the year group I'm in. The uniform rules are ok but I don't think that we should be told off just because a skirt is just above the knee or because your top button isn't done up.
I'm a student in year 9. The school is OK and teachers expect a lot from students. School meals or boring and sometimes they run out of food or run out of time. Some subjects in school are OK but could be improved.
I'm a student at Todmorden High in y10 and the only reason I go is to see my friends. The classes can be good at times but some of the teachers half the time they don't know what they're doing or what they're talking about. They expect us to remember everything that has happened in previous lessons but sometimes that's just to hard and the only time people on school dinners can get something decent is when it's Christmas Dinner day.
