THE WELLINGTON ACADEMY IS A PRISON!!!!!!

THE WELLINGTON ACADEMY IS HORRIBLEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

this school gives out lunch time detentions because a child would not like to wear their blazer during great yet they cant put the heating on in classrooms, furthermore they are EXTREMELY strict about the toilets, they have put prison bars on them and always have a teacher outside of the loo's who SHOUT at them for being to long in the loo, Imagine just trying to go to the toilet and u have a teacher SHOUTING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS at u trying to rush u. this isnt a school, this is a prison.

DO NOT come to this school.

I have never been to a school that has made me want to tie myself onto train tracks this much before. I move school a lot, and this is by far the worst school that I've ever been to. They recently put bars on the toilets. They have the money to build literal prison bars on the toilets but apparently not enough to put any locks on the cubicle doors.

The phone pouches are ridiculous, and the detention rules are way too strict. I hate the detentions, but I would rather have a c2 every day after school forever if it meant I didn't have to do my sparx homework. Sparx has no flow, and has no reason to be the app that so many school use, because its terrible. I think I might hate the app more than this god awful school, wich is saying a lot. Those two mixed together is my definition of hell.

I can mention a few teachers who simply cannot teach, and have ruined some of my favourite subjects due to their inability to control their class. My English teacher, for example, (I can't name names, but his last name is a colour), has made English a class that when I spot it on my timetable, I feel the need to strangle myself. He also keeps winking at my friends. That's weird.

The teachers way of dealing with the students complaining is to ignore them. One of my friends was getting horribly bullied by a few older years at this school, and they did nothing about it. She used to cry before coming into school because she dreaded it so much, and despite her complaints, he mums complaints, and her friends complaints, the school did nothing.

I have so much more to complain about, but I have to finish my sparx otherwise I get a detention. Don't go to this school if you want to be happy. Bye!

This school made me re-evaluate my desire to become a teacher.

I had been putting this review off for a while, because I have now made peace with my experiences. However, I think it's important to let people know about this place.

On my first day, I had no login/email (meaning no access to registers/seating plans/SEN), and was immediately thrown into a 4 lesson day. I didn't get a functioning email account until a week and a half later, and even then blame was being passed around everybody yet no one took any responsibility to help me. Also, I was never given an ID keycard.

Student management/behaviour is atrocious. No one in the school wants to address/take responsibility for the poor, discriminatory, blatantly disrespectful behaviour of students. In the time I was there, so many teachers left because students weren't showing any of these teachers the respect they deserved (and higher management made it seem like these teachers were not grateful for this "amazing" opportunity and furthermore unfit for the role). Moreover, the bad behaviour new teachers had to deal with, all of a sudden became their fault and they were seen as incompetent if they couldn't manage children screaming at each other and having very rotten attitudes.

Work/life balance is totally non-existent in this school. Yet at the same time, if you're not social enough with fellow teachers whereby most of them are serialised, cruel gossips who will make fun of your struggles, then something is wrong and you don't fit in. Essentially, if I worked too much or if I socialised too much, either way I would be criticised.

The school makes it seem that since it accepts many children with a military background, it has a good work ethic. Their advertisement of the school is completely false and they don't encourage/teach their students to respect their teachers, at all. Meanwhile, none of these children care to work and in 2024, that shows the failings of the teaching profession in how children are running schools whilst teachers take no accountability. I think the amount of teachers coming and going from this establishment speaks for itself as far as the kind of environment that is created and how dismissive said support systems really are.

I had very high hopes going into teaching at this school, but now knowing how little support I had and the fact that the school made their problems my problems, I saw as grossly negligent and it made me really dislike the thought of committing to this as a career. I met a handful of wonderful children who kept me sane during my days there, but in the end it was irrelevant when considering the amount of sadness and trouble this school had caused me.

The wellington academy should be shut down

This school did absolutely nothing when i opened up about my mental health and continued to blame it on me instead of supporting me. I know hundreds of kids from this school who end up attempting to take their lives because of the bullying that takes place and the lack of support around mental health. do not send your kids here i recommend looking in andover for a decent school

Don't reccomend

I've been attending this school for only 18 months but I would reccomend going here. The building is really nice but the people there aren't. If you want good grades go somewhere else because at Wellington, you're not going to get very far. Now let's talk about teachers. There is only 2/3 teachers in the entire school who are actually decent. The rest are not very likable as they don't wanna be there and don't teach the things that you need to know. In tests for example, most of us do pretty badly because most of the stuff in the test we haven't learnt. The teachers then say it's our fault? Which is questionable. There is some good things about the school though. They have really nice food it's just super overpriced. The sports facilities are also really good, if you're an athletic student then I reccomend Wellington. Overall I'm not a fan of this school and I hope that the school can improve in the future.

Atrocious

Absolutely NO support for LGBTQ+ students. I was nearly killed on multiple occasions by multiple students and nothing was EVER done about it, the bullying is horrific even from teachers.
Teachers are also abusive, girls are refused access to bathrooms during lesson time, even if they've come on their period and a student with a disability was refused bathroom access during class and ended up wetting themselves after informing the teacher they didn't feel well.

DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE

Good school but could be better

I think it’s a good school, there is lots of space inside and out, good sized classrooms with up to date technology. A lot of kids who bully though and is not taken seriously by teachers.

By a year 9 student from the school

Bad Personal Experience

Quality of teaching isn’t bad but people attending are horrible and bullying is not handled adequately - no support for students or empathy from teachers regarding any situations.

Wellington academy

Iv spent a few years at the school now and I can’t say it’s been a great time worst time of my life the teachers are so fixed on turning kids into “perfect” kids that they can’t see how horrible they are I have been lied about by staff verbally assaulted many times kicked out of lessons just by not wanting to shake the teachers hand because idk were it’s been and they don’t take anything bad seriously they gossip in the staff room too! No lie iv had a few teachers tell me my names been spoken about for situations that have been repeated twisted and wrong if I could describe wellington in three words I would use “fake” “controlling” “horrible”
