Children bullied on a daily basis over several classes, head of year well aware after student had to receive counselling for self harm and depression.
The bullies still remain at the school and still emotionally abuse the said student on a daily basis with no end in sight.
Looking at home schooling because I actually care about my child's well being.
I really enjoyed attending the vale academy as a student, the teachers always encouraged me to do my best and i will always appreciate that as I achieved beyond my expected grades in year 11! The teachers are supportive and there is always someone to talk to about any matter!
My son moved to vale half way through year 7 as he was really struggling with being at a large school and being just another number and not seen as a pupil.
He has had the chance to be in a football team and dodgeball team which he never got to do at his previous school and the team even won the Lincolnshire schools cup.
He always says good things about the teachers and how engaging the lessons are. He actually enjoys going to school which is very unusual for a child!
For any parents who are thinking of sending their child to the vale I would suggest going and having a tour round before, they are more than happy for you to do this if you give them a call.
My other son goes to a different school so it’s easy for me to compare. The one to one support the communication from the school and the way the teachers engage with the students is far superior at the vale.
I moved to vale academy from a school I didn’t like and the teachers helped me settle in really well the students were very kind and supportive aswell as I made friends quickly I love the subjects especially technology and pe the canteen has very good food for break time and lunch time
Ever since year 7 this school has helped me in so many ways. Whenever there was a problem they would always do their best to do whatever they could to fix it. An example of this is when i was bullied and they instantly clamped down on it.
When COVID hit in year 8 they were very effective in still providing us an education with the staff providing work every day and marking the work once it had been sent in through email.
When it came to my GCSES they provided us all with revision sessions every week non-stop throughout the year to make sure every student had the chance to reach their full potential. A subject i really struggled with throughout my time here was maths. I was worried i would fail however, the maths department didn't let that happen and it was because of them that i achieved a 5. We also had several mocks throughout the year which allowed us to not go in the exams blind and know what was to happen. For the actual exams they also provided us with predictions to what was going to be in the paper. Before every exam we were provided with a booster to put the last bits of revision in our heads.
For their Post-16 (Sixth Form), if we didn't want to leave, we were provided with the option of a sixth form. Although it is still attached to the school you are treated a lot differently than you were in Year 11. You have a lot more freedom and are treated like an adult and have the options of only coming into school if you have lessons. The reason why i chose sixth form instead of going to college is because the sixth form is very small and personal and they care about the student. You also get a lot of support from the teachers and as they know you, you already know their teaching style.
Overall, when it came to GCSES this school really stepped and made sure we all left with the best grades we could get, with their sixth form it's very supportive and In general this school is very welcoming and is a very nice community.
Our daughter moved to The Vale Academy sixth form after she finished Y11 elsewhere and we were really happy with the experience she's had. The facilities were modern and the sixth form area was very comfortable. The teachers' support was exceptional and they often gave up their own time to help her get the grades she needed for her uni course.
The academy encourages all students to be involved in extra curricular activities. Students regularly visit the Delta outdoor education centre called Dallowgill near Ripon. Students enjoy experiencing the outdoors and really enjoy evenings around the fire pit.
I am absolutely thrilled to share my daughter's remarkable journey at The Vale Academy in Brigg. Thanks to her unwavering determination and the exceptional support from the academy's fantastic teachers and resources, she achieved outstanding results in her GCSEs, surpassing all expectations.
From the moment my daughter stepped into The Vale Academy, it was evident that the teachers were genuinely dedicated and passionate about their students' success. They went above and beyond to provide individual attention, encouraging her to reach her full potential. Their expertise and commitment played a crucial role in her transformation from being predicted 4s to achieving incredible 9s in her GCSEs.
What impressed me the most was the constant encouragement and support my daughter received. The teachers at The Vale Academy fostered a positive and nurturing environment, helping her develop confidence and a strong work ethic. It was incredible to witness the growth and progress she made throughout her time there.
I would recommend The Vale Academy to any parent looking for an outstanding educational institution. It is an exceptional school where dedicated educators and excellent facilities form the perfect recipe for success. The Vale Academy not only helped my daughter achieve outstanding grades but also instilled in her a love for learning that will benefit her throughout her academic journey and beyond.
School does not take responsibility for bullying. Their answer to severe bullying (life of a child being literally threatened) on the school bus is 'We can't do anything as it's outside of school'. This is totally incorrect- Headteachers have the power to punish pupils for bullying irrespective of whether it's on the school premises or not. If you doubt me, look up bullying on the gov.uk website.
A good number of parents in the local villages (ourselves included) are actively seeking to avoid sending their children here because of this. Bullies are not removed or expelled despite repeated reports. Vale has given up on discipline.
The police are now involved in this latest incident and we'll see if 'there's nothing they can do' when presented with a list of names by the police.
The actual teachers are fine however the student support staff did nearly nothing about bullying and instead made my situation worse. My anxiety was through the roof to the point that I was shaking while walking through the corridors and when I mentioned my problems to student support I was told to just go to class.
