What on earth is going on at this school???
Teacher’s swearing, don’t have knowledge of the subjects they are supposed to be teaching, pupils are not getting the education they are entitled to or deserve. I could go on. Senior management do not seem to be interested/ aware or care 🤷♀️. Roll on next Ofsted visit.
Sandon school is possibly one of the worst. Unless you are ridiculously committed to being a teachers pet and working yourself into the ground or you're a terribly behaved student who needs a lot of guidance. Expect to be completely ignored and to go without help for your duration at sandon.
Locking the sixth formers out of their own common room during winter. Allowing teachers who are blatantly homophobic or ableist to continue working without any kind of reprocussion. Ignoring student needs. Ignoring most of their students at that. Truly a horrific place to learn.
They lost teachers left and right and do literally nothing to try and replace them. I ended up having two teachers for a course that required three and was told a few weeks before my final exam to just "learn the two topics at home from my resource pack"
Most teachers suck, with a few exceptions as their usually is. Most have favourites and ignore the rest of the class. Head of drama is possibly the worst person I've ever met in my life. Not a single person liked her, not even the staff and it takes a lot for over 1000 people to dislike you.
Basically don't send your kids here. It's so so bad.
Awful school, awful staff! Teachers are a bunch of bullies.
Had a positive mind towards this school when sending my children here. Nothing but grief since they’ve started. They are quick to call about behaviour issues of students but fail to address their unprofessional behaviours. No communication amongst staff, so they are not on the same boat. Making kids feel that they have issues when clearly they are making it worse. This school seriously needs to be investigated. There has been too many incidents taking place personally as a parent. They do not address the faults of staff members, yet they fully want to sanction students that need nurturing and care. No fairness or equality!
They tell you what you want to hear but lie through their back teeth
The school went downhill bit by bit as senior members of staff were replaced.
The new replacements are jobsworths and control freaks that have no idea how to manage people or a school. They seriously have no idea and some of the kids in that school are being failed badly by the systems that are implemented.
The amount of staff that left in 2 years says it all. General well-being for staff is non existent and everything is for show.
When our child first attended this school it was in our view excellent, however as they progressed in subsequent years the school significantly dropped in status with a change in management. The senior teaching staff were inept at tackling unruly behaviour by the minority with bullying and racism rife. The majority of complaint pupils are then targeted for the most petty misdemeanours. Such a shame that running of the school is not being sufficiently checked by the LAA or Governors. A below average school that could easily be one of the best in the area with some simple and effective changes.
Omg the review about how this school is supposed to specialise in computing. When I was there, all the systems got hacked so we couldn't use the computers and the IT teachers kept leaving so we were only left with bad teachers and they didn't know what they were doing so the whole class were left helping each other. the teacher basically was telling us to ask the other students for help. and as a shy person it's hard enough asking a teacher for help but when you are sit next to someone that you don't like it can be hard asking for their help.
The school seems to be going down hill, not going to lie. For a long time it advertised itself as a Maths and Computing specialist academy, although that was because originally it was one of the few schools in the area that taught computer science and now it's a government mandated subject for all schools, and I found that the Maths department, while it used to genuinely be be a great department with really good teachers, most of them have retired or moved on and now I would say it's just about above average.
Not an awful school, will get you through the education system. Absolutely awful response to the corana virus outbreak with 20 cases in the school, lack of information about them to students and parents alike, teachers off everywhere without any explanation. The old headteacher did a great job, the new one (3 years now) struggles to keep to the same reputation. With stupid rules that make no sense like removing the doors on the boys toleits. School struggles sometimes with expenses for equipment but is mostlikely because they build a massive extension with there leftover budget. Its called a maths and it specialist school, that was to get funding back then with grants, it means and gains nothing for them now but the title lure parents in thinking there experts, the school it system is a joke that struggles to stay working and the school doesn't even teach further maths if you wanted that. Also the school has a questionable but probably unlucky past of having two pedofiles. Not the schools fault but should be mentioned since you'll see a news article about it every time you search the Sandon school online. Talking of teachers. Some teachers are strict some aren't, not the worst ever. Without saying names but some of teachers there are so of the best down to earth people and deserve so much better. If your parent looking for a school to send them too, Sandon isn't bad overall. Just be warned. For a higher rated school try chelmer or Boswells, friends have went there and although I can't speak for them, it doesn't suffer nearly as much. Thank you for reading. I've left out plenty but you get the message.
