I have Grandchildren at the school and it is lovely to see how happy they are! They are always sad when its school holidays and can't wait to get back to school so they can enjoy all the fantastic experiences. Well done to it eldest grandchild who got their first choice grammar school.
The perfect balance in a school. Children do SO well in sports and performing arts. Very strong STEM as well! Great results epically in 11 + and scholarships!
I have 3 children at The Mead and have been so pleased with all aspects of the school. The new headmistress has been an asset to our family community. It’s so lovely that all the children have constant smiles on their faces. My eldest is in Year 6 and although I see a negative review above complaining about lack of facilities these children have still gone on to win ISA sporting competitions in netball and rugby just last week!! The arts department and academic results achieve just as high results. I highly recommend viewing this school.
Reading the review below and does not resonate with me at all. The Mead is a truly special place and so nurturing for my shy son who has completely come out his shell and not afraid to speak out loud, or be in the school play. We find there is plenty space and they use local facilities such as Trinity theatre, Neville cricket ground, Rugby pitch which is fantastic as well as using some very impressive sites in town and live local. We have found teachers go above and beyond, nothing is too much trouble and quite a few of them have been there 15 years. Love that its not 'too snooty' and everyone is down to earth. Will never forget seeing the confident Year 6 children on my school Open Day and can see how my own child is evolving to be like that.
Love the Mead! My children are so happy and have been from the moment they started. Small, nurturing and cares about every child as an individual. Lots on offer in terms of clubs and extras. Well rounded and everything we wanted for our children.
We removed out children from this school. We felt like the school has not lived up to what we hoped and the recent change in head has sped up our decision to remove our children from the school as she didn't inspire us. The atmosphere of the school has changed. There has been a high turnover of staff since she has started too so no consistancy for the children. The school seems overcrowded as it is very small! We were sold that is was nurturing and small, but we just found it small and lots of students squashed into tiny classrooms.
Facilities were not brilliant for the amount of children in the school.
We were left very disappointed.
Not impressed by this school and removed my children because of it. They are much happier in their new school.
It felt very small for the amount of children in the school and facilities were really poor for a private school. School looked like it was falling down in places. It also seemed like they were having quite a turnover of staff in recent years so no real consistancy. And possibly also represents the treatment of the staff by leadership.
There is a tremendous breadth to the curriculum and four to six after schools clubs each day for KS2. There is a real family feel to the school with the staff knowing all the children.
Great school, I couldn't be happier! My three are at The Mead, with one in Year 6! Such a lovely experience and you couldn't ask for a more nurturing school.
As a parent I feel the school has changed for the worse over the last year or so. School communication with parents is disorganised and erratic, club provision and school trips have been significantly reduced, school caterers have been changed ( seemingly to save money) and the new headmistress isn’t a patch on her predecessor.
