Do not send your child here unless they are quite resilient.
My son loves it here and his grades are very good. The punishment system is ridiculous though. He has been given detention for forgetting one item of uniform, one time and comments for being late when almost all the class were due to a late bell. There is no leniency in the system, no understanding and no promotion of individuality
Though my son will probably leave with fabulous grades I am not sure it is worth it.
This school is very keen on putting people in isolation. They've also realised that they are not alone, so instead of 1 day of isolation, it's now called 1 day of supervision. Also, they realised that they were getting to many detentions, so they were like, 'HEY, instead of 5 comments is a detention, now it's an iso, YIPPEE!' so yeah, bye.
Not allowed to go to the toilet during lessons, even if absolutely desperate. I have been told by a member of staff that I would have to ‘wee on the floor’. Teachers intimidate on purpose around school, as they constantly picked on me for the colour of my coat which is a sensible colour. Mental health system is shocking, barely any help offered. Members of staff walk into the girls toilets and make them hurry, barely leaving time to wash hands.
A very very good school.
I attended this school until 2020 and had a great time. Similar to another review, I was bullied in earlier years but it was much better towards the end and teachers were always very caring and supportive. Generally a very down to earth, kind faculty (with exception to only a few). The food is the best of any school I’ve seen and the facilities are very good. I hear more recently that the school is getting Les and less diverse- it already wasn't very- as less city students are going there. There are some issues of acceptance around this from some small minded students. Again teachers are always there to help.
Pastoral team is awful, not the cleanest school and the uniform rules are far too strict. I am a good student who rarely ever gets in trouble (never before this) i dyed my hair a reddish brown and had detention for a week (would have been longer however it was the christmas holidays the following week) most teachers are good with the exception of a few. Good food and overall ok school, mental health department definitly needs improvement however.
This school is incredible. I’ve spent some of the best years of my life here so far. All schools have some bullying and I did get bullied in the younger years which was difficult. But the teachers often tried their best to help me. The teachers overall are some of the most talented people in their job. You learn so much in a kind, caring environment. The school is an intimate setting/building and the school has a feel of a real community. The food is amazing and so is the extra curriculars. GO HERE.
