Such a bad school. I am a student and the headteacher cares more about if your wearing clear nail polish than the actual work. The uniform is way too strict and doesn't let anyone be themselves and you will get pulled out of lesson which is interrupting education because your uniform is incorrect. Was better before the new headteacher came in. The headteacher completely focuses more about the uniform and himself to actually concentrate on things that actually matter such as stopping bullying, racism, homophobia, helping student's mental health etc. I already struggled with mental health before this school and honestly it's just made it 1000 times worse. Don't recommend this school at all.
If you are a parent thinking of sending your child here, I plead with you from the bottom of my heart, do not do it. My daughter spent 3.5years here and it turned her into a nervous wreck and ruined her life and confidence.
Bullying is rife. The anti bullying policy is non existent. A staff member bullied my daughter, we had to take out a formal complaint and legally request to see any documents with my daughters name on them. This revealed disgusting behaviour from a senior member of staff.
The students are vile, my daughter was frequently told to “go kill herself”. The school deemed this as ‘low level bullying’.
The head and deputy head are ill equipped to run the school, they are cold hearted and run the school like a business. The emotional well being and development of the the students are not catered for.
The ofsted report is well and truly out of date and dates back to 2014 where the school was run by a completely different set of teachers. They are riding off the back of their predecessors success. The school should be condemned in my opinion.
Unfortunately this is just the tip of the iceberg, we had many, many horrific problems with this school. After logging a formal complaint, we left the school and it was the best thing we ever did. My daughter is now ‘recovering’ in a different school and is starting to return back to the confident young lady she once was before attending The Kings School.
a horrible school would not recommend, i've had such a bad experience there already and im only in yr 9. if i had an opportunity to move i would in a heat beat. i've had many negative experience there with how they handle things, for example throughout yr 7 and 8 i was body shamed everyday to the point were i couldnt take it anymore and would cry every night and i had told the teachers about this and my mum had called in the school and still nothing has happened. i gave up now and have learnt to deal with it witch is totally unfair but they havnt done anything about it so im not trying anymore. another shocking thing that has happened is they've put me in isolation for a week due to the shoes i was wearing because my mum wasnt able to get a new pair yet due to the expences. even after multiple notes they still kept me in there and said im not allowed out until there changed witch stopped me from getting the proper education i deserve. there rules are so strict and the head teacher is just so nasty and sexist for example boys arnt allowed to wear shorts not even in the scorching weather and the girls arnt allowed to play rugby only tag rugby which both of these matters have caused lots of upset in the past.
now after saying all this pleasy dont send your kids here its a horrible environment and i wish i was never a part of it.
When I was attending I found the school to have an extremely bad anti-bullying rules. Even if they did follow they would not be of any use to a student suffering. I also believe the current senior team (headmaster, deputy's etc.) are finding it difficult to have the school function in a proper way, over looking any student that needs a little added help or supports. As from a parent point of view i found there to be very little communication with my parents and matter had to often be resolved without their knowledge or consent.
Uniform is too heavily enforced, person i know got a detention for using the black PE socks instead of the normal day white ones even though they explained that another teacher had said to do it as their white ones where muddy.
Do not deal with bullying well at all. Issues in my friend group started in early year 7 and nothing was done until one of them ran away from home in year 9.
Do not listen when it comes to physical conditions. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and i have to keep my joints warm to help this, however, when i had pain from my condition, i was made to use an ice pack which froze my joints and made it difficult to stand up. This happened repeatedly.
Never got the proper help for my languages, was just removed from my Spanish class instead of receiving help, i am excelling in my languages at my new school.
No support for lesson struggles. Was so bad in my maths that i got so overwhelmed i couldn't do the work, I even had panic attacks over the homework. Never received any help or support.
Had obvious mental health issues such as general and social anxiety which was never dealt with even though i chewed my nails to the nail bed and made myself bleed because of it in class multiple times. I even had a panic attack in an RE test and had to stand outside but it never got dealt with or looked at.
Never got help for my dyslexia.
Had to quit altogether after Christmas in year 7 because my chronic fatigue was so bad, i missed half they days and still got no help or support.
Would not recommend. Everyone I've known, my age, younger, and adults, all day they had horrible experiences with the school. Even my Uncle who's nearly 30 said it was terrible when he went.
Please find somewhere better.
The School was good but has gone downhill since the new headteacher took over 4 years ago. The uniform is too heavily enforced. Only academically able pupils or pupils good at sport are commended. There is also a lot of bias towards some students.
Your not allowed your phones out, Staff are too strict with students. Ok grades but not very good at getting your grades up if you have below passing grades. Does not handle bullying/homophobia very well.
