I am a year 10, I have seen some very unfortunate things in my time here at James Hornsby I have seen a male safe guarding teacher search a girl and get them to shake out their bra which under Ofsted is against the law. I have also seen many of my friends be threatened by teachers. The toilets are absolutely disgraceful. I do not recommend coming here if you want someone to mentally support you it won't happen, I had a bullying incident and the girl pulled out the race card and the school took her side I can't count the amount of times that this school has let me down and the amount of times that I felt mentally exhausted hearing that my friends have been threatened by a safeguarding teacher or they've been searched by a male teacher patting them down. The school had high expectations when I first joined now it has literally gone down the drain there is no boundaries I have seen a teacher crawl under the desk to see whether it goes skirts with the right length and if they're socks for the right height or colour. It's ashame that people more or less adults don't understand what good teaching is anymore because this surely ain't.
I’m yr10 it could deffo be a whole lot better ngl, teachers don’t understand students at all, the new spark system is stupid and needs to go but it’s okay.
Good if you don’t care for your childrens mental health.
At this school I faced a lot of discrimination and having the teachers do hardly anything about it. This school definitely cares about their appearance rather than how they actually are. I had a few lovely teachers get me through the time there which helped. This school is okay but could definitely put more effort in with forming good relationships with students and trying to understand the childrens circumstances better. I left the school recently and now work in a school and I can definitely say that whilst jhs is a good school that tries, they should definitely start putting less thought onto academic’s, and more thought onto the childrens mental health.

Good school
I go to this school Theres plenty Of Bad Kids But If You Just Focous On Yourself Then YOU will do SO well The teachers Are really Nice As Well Very Supportive especially When You've Had A Bad Day
Good school and wonderful teachers. I think that the children get overtired and don’t have much fun at this school. Lovely teachers and good environment though.
Went into reception to collect my daughter and it stunk like wet carpet and it looks so old fashioned another time i went through the whole school for parents evening and the humanities department is absolutely vile i couldn’t believe it compared to my childs previous secondary school which is also in basildon jhs is absolutely disgusting. The classrooms are absolutely tiny. The tables were sticky, the floors looks grimey. Glad my daughter is leaving next year.
