A levels

Avoid at all costs

My daughter joined at 6th form having heard good things. She would have been far better off at College. From the moment she joined she was told by teachers she would be on a learning plan and could be kicked out at the end of year 12. Nice start.... It didn't get better with the loss of many staff, unable to replace or retain new ones. One teacher consistently under marked work in order to make the girls work harder but this absolutely crushed my daughters confidence and motivation. This affected her mental health but the behaviour from the teacher continued.
When UCAS season came the teacher said she would fail the subject but she would kindly put a D as predicted grade - which at this stage is useless. We had to appeal but found the whole department just as uncaring and lacking support.
In the end they predicted a C but under duress and steamrollered her to put a lower performing Uni on her list - absolute abuse of power.
She passed with a B in the end, thanks to the private tutors we had to employ to build her confidence back up and teach her in a suitable way for her needs. She got into the Uni of her choice not the lower league one she was forced to put as an option and all is now well.
However this has scarred her, opened our eyes as to the state of education with academy trusts running good establishments into the ground and has left us grateful we don't have to go through this again, emotionally and financially.
I can't comment on lower school but steer clear of the FBA 6th form, upper school.

School is so old and there's too many students in there for the Size of the building, when there's a fire alarm you have to literally que through like a whole crowd and the corridors get so blocked, even trying to get down the stairs at break time takes like 7 minutes. Most teachers are nice but they care more if you don't wear your blazer compared to if someone is getting bullied or something. Also, our break times are so short, 30 minutes at lunch time and 15 minutes at break.

Horrible school

The male teachers r creepy and all of the teachers scream and give detentions for nothing. The cafeteria food is uncooked and my friend had raw uncooked pasta (you could hear the crunch) and the headteachers are so rude.

It sucks

Pressure on good grades is insane, teachers push the idea that grades are the most important thing, disregarding mental health and wellbeing. During my time here, i finished my GCSEs and A-levels, and i can guarantee the only reason they have 100% pass rate for A-levels is because they kick out struggling students with no support before they can even manage to take their exams. There are teachers teaching A-levels without the right qualifications themselves, for pushing students into stem based subjects, the physics department is lacking horribly. My A-level teacher for physics didn’t even have an A-level in physics herself and had no clue what she was teaching us, we had no support and complaining didn’t do anything. Compared to other schools in the area, the environment is so toxic and bullying is so unbelievably common. Wouldn’t really recommend this school to anyone, especially students wanting to study stem based subjects. Of course there are some really good teachers but overall, the school environment is just depressing.
