Absolute horror of a school, I got told that I was going to be a failure with no future ahead of me because i have a low attendance, Keeping in mind i have low attendance due to being disabled after a botched surgery on my legs which causes me to be in severe pain. They have little to no consideration for any students with disabilities as i know it isn’t just me who’s had that said to after reaching out to other disabled students. I think it’s absolutely appalling that the pastoral and head of sixth form think it’s acceptable to speak to any student this way. They have zero compassion for students and only care about the statistics of the school rather than the wellbeing of the school. The sixth form pastoral staff need a huge reality check on how to treat students like actual human beings. Only about 2 decent teachers who will actually treat you kindly and at least they made my experience at the school slightly enjoyable.
The education you get would be excellent, if you didn’t have the class clowns making the teacher yell half the lesson and interrupting making the poorest quality of learning time- the teachers are great however you get some bad eggs who are just the worst and you can’t stand. Safety and security is alright with safeguarding and stuff i guess. The new building they got is amazing but they fill it to the absolute brim with students so theres never enough room to even enjoy it because everyones shoulder to shoulder, not enough seats in canteen and barely any benches outside, they section off parts of the playground to each year group so some of them don’t even have benches or shade! Mediocre activities however there are a few decent ones. Overall my experience as someone quiet in class was mid, i would recommend going if you live a short bus away or within walking distance because it can be alright, just disorganised sometimes and stressful
Good home for bullies, not so good if you're on the receiving end
Why can't I leave a review with no stars because that's precisely what this school deserves.
On the face of it, results are good and al is well, scratch below the surface and you find bullying which goes uninvestigated and unresolved. My grand daughter has bullied for over 2 years and despite reporting to teachers and heads of department, nothing ever gets done about it and the bullies win.
SO very very sad to see how my grand daughter has been affected by this and thoroughly disappointed by the lack of action by the school
This school is no a good school for anybody who will get bullied they don’t care it only when parents and cares kick and screen they do something which only last a week the SEND team at the school is not the best but not the worst they won’t get involved with a lot of things though they don’t care about your mental health they will tell you to suck it up and others have it worse than you
despite what the rest of the reviews said, i had an overall positive experience in my time at the deanery. the rules i agree are a bit uptight, but it makes it a good and smart school. i was never a troublesome student, but i was boisterous, however after that point it comes down to morals.
I knew when to stop misbehaving, and for that reason, i was fine. the teachers are very lenient with their behaviour approaches and allow several chances to fix behaviour: sometimes too lenient. sometimes some teachers struggle to manage behaviour but its all due to lack of respect from the student(s).
** i came out of this school with no grade lower than a 7 (A) and this was down to my teachers giving up their spare time to help me. **
there is minimal space allowed for year groups due to covid, meaning theres complete separation and designated zones for years. when its cold, wet, windy, there is no place to go inside and you are subjected to the outside. pre-covid, however, you were allowed inside and outside.
i never went through the typical stereotyped issues during school, like bullying, and when there was an issue arrises, the staff do the best they can to intervene. not always successful; but its comforting knowing there's a support team behind you.
on the odd occasions i wasn’t feeling great, i always had at least one teacher pul me up and ask if i was ok and if i wanted to chat. i felt very included and cared for. the teachers have their students best interests at heart and want whats best for them.
i participated in several external sports competitions within school and the opportunities they gave to every student was immense - it was up to the student whether they’d like to participate.
constantly kept up-to-date with notices and important bulletins and weekly year group assemblies.
the food was questionable most times, but this is down to the school providers, as the break-time food was adequate.
this school is good, if you don't have any issues at all. if you get through high school without being bullied, experiencing mental health issues or having issues in class then its great!! aside from the homophobia and transphobia and racism. but yknow.
yeah this school is pretty bad. the school only cares about good grades and how the school is percieved, and the school views itself as "not a democracy". it doesn't listen to what students think.
read the other reviews for a more in depth explanation.
I don't really recommend it there. Teachers don't help students with mental health, with poor work or ableism. They have a ridiculous discipline policy and do nothing about racism or homophobia or transphobia, it's actually mental. They're pretty strict like a few schools but for no reason. No jewellery; no nail-polish; no coloured hair accessories; no dyed hair (although I sort of understand that one); no piercings; no make-up; have to wear certain types of shoes, aren't even allowed to wear winter boots. We aren't even allowed to wear coloured coats. Some of these rules are understandable, but I don't see how having nail-polish is going to impact how you work at school.
All they care about is looking smart and looking like a good school. They don't care about your health, or what you feel like.
Shit school honestly. A few good teachers who you can actually talk to, rest don't care about much and more or less ignore you. Teachers wouldn't listen to those who was struggling meaning the others failed. The only good thing was going home
there's about 2 good teachers and that's it!! pastoral have the same amount of emotional intelligence as a 3 year old brat and do absolutely nothing when you tell them about your depreciating mental health. food looks and tastes awful. like the sort of thing you'd feed to a pig! it's insulting, really!! this school the definition of "it's what's on the inside that counts, not the outside". not to mention the forced prayers every morning and church services whenever there's a holiday! you're forced to go no matter what you believe in. how disgusting. luckily for students, though, if you stay quiet during class, most of the teachers think that means you're good!! you idiots better be glad there's 2 teachers there who have somewhat decent intelligence
not gonna lie its crap but not as bad as some schools . some teachers are clueless some are good teachers .pastoral are shite and do nothing but walk round with walkie talkies shouting . food is also crap instead of garlic bread gave me garlic buttered bun and cheese stuck to tray aswell . not very good discipline policy . teachers have already given up on life . if you walk the wrong way around the coridoor you get a message home . good is you finish at 3 . only 5 lessons a day and suffiecent time to walk to next lesson. Also girls may aswell not exist because they get treated like shit to
Absolute shit, didn’t care about kids at all. Half the kids slit their wrists or starve themselves & school faculty know and do nothing about it. Have no care in the world
