They set up a building called team hub. And the point of it was to improve and help students with mental health. I went there often and never received any help for the problems and things i was going through. I was put on a waiting list for councilling which they said would help. But after over a year i never heard back. The teachers are exceptionally rude, i had teachers tell me that my parents think im a failure, teachers belittle me, and teachers make me feel bad about myself. The school makes no effort to help students with problems. Even though they advertise it. Terrible school, made my depression worse. The food was always horrible, raw, cold, and overpriced.
Horrific attention to mental health issues. Left with diagnosed ptsd from teachers and their behaviour towards a vulnerable student. Appalling school, got no better in the 7 years I was there despite the ofsted improvements. Been 4 years since I left and I am still suffering from how I was treated there. Awful school and not a place of safety for children and young adults.
My experience being a student at the cottesloe school was really an eye opener for me, it was a very difficult stage in my life. I was diagnosed with autism and anxiety and the school put me on a part time time table, without sending me any work and lessons I was missing..the head of year would lock me in the back of her classroom for hours with no explanation and take me out of my lessons and make teachers follow me around during
My break time, they’d take me phone and wouldn’t give it back with no explanation either. I was then removed illegally from the premises and not allowed back into the Cottesloe education. Even though I had an SENP which is infact illegal to reject a SEN student education. Their reasoning for this was “they couldn’t cater for my special needs and anxiety”. I wasn’t allowed to take my
GCSES either.
everything was going fine until I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and anxiety. They started locking me in rooms and taking me out of classes and putting me into the head of years office for hours and refused to let me leave. I was given a part time timetable and was not sent any work home during my days of homeschooling. I fell behind immediately and the school said they couldn’t cater for my needs anymore as I didn’t have a SENPLAN, they had teachers follow me to the bathrooms. Around at break and lunch and even a extra set of eyes in class rooms. My mum had a meeting with them and they suggested I left the school until my SENPLAN came through. When it came through 16 weeks later they refused to let me back at the school and the reasoning was “my anxiety was too bad for them to manage” yet it’s illegal to refuse a student with a SENPLAN. during the time I wasn’t at the school they were taking in my SPECIAL NEEDS fundings and lying about it. I have all the paper work and evidence of this and I haven’t been in any education (as they wrote a terrible report of me on my SENPLAN) since I was 14 years old and I have no GCSES thanks to the Cottesloe school.
