This place really sucked, so I started in September 2017 and speed ran getting depression at a young age. The teaching itself wasn't too bad I'll give it that but that's about it. The bullying there was horrendous and teachers wouldn't do anything about it but we'd still have anti-bullying assembly's as if the heads of years cared. When I'd go to them about bullying they'd roll they're eyes and accuse me of making it up or say I'm overreacting. Sometimes things wouldn't be done because of the favoritism which was STRONG. The school was terrible at dealing with mental health as well, in my experience they'd only do things when I got to my my breaking point (AKA when I'd have to go to the hospital about it). I had a piece of vent art taken off of me in class and given to the head of year where she essentially told me off for drawing something depressing. If it isn't obvious the head of the upper years didn't really like the kids with the mental health issues or the ones who dealt with bullying and no one knew why. There was also time I and some other students had things thrown at us and slurs yelled at us on our way home and the school didn't do ANYTHING.
There was far too much homework to keep up with; it got easier to manage when I was in year 10 and 11 but that because most of it was revision, if you missed any homework (it was about 5 pieces a week) you'd get detention and they wouldn't take being exhausted as an excuse.
This school was also terrible at helping neurodivergent kids when they had meltdowns, they'd pretty much let them deal with it on their own and sometimes wouldn't even allow those students out of lesson to recollect themselves meaning that they'd get even more overwhelmed (they wouldn't take going mute well either which as an autistic person I hated). I had my time out card taken off of me at the end of year 10 by the head of year because I was "using it too much" (I used it about 4 times that where fairly spread out).
I remember how students where often sick because of the food. The canteen was always rammed and very, very loud. And during my GCSE's they used the canteen as a place to put the ENTIRE YEAR GROUP in there, and we where essentially standing on top of each other.
The school provided counselling which didn't help at all when I was in it because I felt that I couldn't tell them anything otherwise it'd get out (there wasn't much confidentiality). I also had a teacher straight up look at my SH which wasn't fun.
Some of the teachers would straight up just insult and guilt trip the students. Sometimes teachers would use class as therapy and one time we had a teacher go into the class and say that our year group was the reason all the teachers where leaving. God forbid you weren't academic in this school because you got little to no help with your work, you'd be lucky to pass your GCSE's. The clownery in this school was something else! There are now riots at the school and I can't blame the students because every student in every year was tired of this and wanted the school to actually get it's act together.
Transferred to Bromfords from another school after being treated horribly. All the teachers were and are very amazing towards my circumstances and my way of coping. They have helped me learn to cope with my trauma and support me in every way possible. The education provided is great and teachers are very passionate and patient with the children. Honestly struggled in school so bad before joining Bromfords but they have helped me learn to cope with the school setting! Couldn’t recommend this school enough! Teachers and other members of staff should be very proud of themselves!
worst school EVER. Please please please do not take your children here. Since I’ve been to this school I have not learnt a single thing. I’m getting dumber by the second and it’s worrying for me. Very unorganised, have a sub most of the time and the teachers? They don’t know what they’re doing. Loads of fights and all the kids are out of control. Yeah, so, if you want your kids to pass GCSEs don’t take them there
I havent been at this school for long, but it is Terrible!! Food is alright, some teachers are good, but others are very unorganised. Most good teachers have left for better schools like beauchamps. Most of the time i have a sub. The outside is really horrific, inside is decent. But if you get offered a better school go there instead for a better education.
Awful school absolutely awful - do not take your kids here the management have no idea what they are doing they treat their staff like crap. Avoid taking your kids here your kids were turn very bad and the school doesnt give a damn about it.
Take your kids else where otherwise you will regret it.
help for you mental health here is straight up awful and no one is treated the same way about it. some people get loads of help while others receive little to no help even after going to their head of year. i personally have been told that i was over reacted while having a panic attack at bromfords. dont even get me started on the teaching there. a large majority of the teachers are nice and good at their job while others are complete crap. they are the real bullies here. ontop of their crap teaching, the actual teachers have no regards for students mental health at all by giving us ridiculous amounts of homework and if the student doesn’t complete it all they get a detention. this is fair enough until you realise the teachers wont take mental health as a fair reason why. this school is ridiculous.
One of the worst disorganised, schools anyone could go to. The teaching I found was ok, obviously some teachers taught better than others. But I endured picking on from actual TEACHERS, such as picking on me for certain things and not other students which is truly disgusting. Anti bullying was a shambles , they don’t care, they will just roll your eyes at you and be rude at you when you could be on the brink of suicide. They truly don’t give a shit. Events they held, or after school clubs where extremely disorganised. Staff are incredibly rude, especially the pastoral. Bathrooms are disgusting. The environment inside the school is ok, pretty clean and nice layout, whereas outside is filled with disgusting rusty sheds. Do not send your child here.
