This school is great for education, do not get me wrong, but the students in this school need to be nicer, my experience was that the school was not helping out with the bullying situations on the playground
It's bloody horrible, as a current student the head teacher is a d*** head and not liked by anyone, he is always mocked for his fallice tip shaped head.
In 2019 there were protests against him for his complete ban of phones even outside of lessons.
The schools toilets are either out of order or being used to vape in.
Most of the teachers are horrible E.g. Miss m*** and miss w****.
The food is horrible, most popular food are the pepperoni paninis due to the poor quality of the other foods with the bacon obviously being microwaved, covered in fat and probably raw 99% of the tume, pieces of pasta often being raw or somehow half raw and nothing being seasoned for "health" reasons the food is horrible and cheap especially the food on Fridays where they basically only do fish/chicken and chips, the chips are unsalted, dusty and not seasoned, the chicken is often hard and the breading soggy and the fish is dry and doesn't even taste like fish, it doesn't really have a taste if I'm honest.
The staff at the cafeteria are rude, when in year 7 I had a card to skip lines and one of them refused to serve me because I used it, granted she was fired but not for a year after.
The staff in the school don't listen, with one telling me to "deal with it" when I told them I wanted to go home after I had just had a panic attack.
At the office they don't listen with one time them saying that I could go home (again after another panic attack), they soon forgot not 2 seconds later and went along with chatting to each other while I sat there for an hour and a half awaiting for them to call my mum so I could go home.
If you end up sick you'll have to phone them every day you are to remind them that you're not going to be in today or you'll be marked as "unauthorised absent", and if they don't pick up don't bother leaving a voice mail because they're to busy walking around the school aimlessly or chatting with each other to listen to those. Seriously you could be going through kemo and they'll expect it to be done one day and you back the next, like seriously have those ladies never been ill, like it takes time to heal.
Most of the building are more then 30 years old im pretty sure, so paired with very rare renovations you can judge that the quality isn't the best, now they're not falling down just yet a recently demolished one was found to have asbestos in, and then there's B block, with its paper thinn rusting and rotting windows and doors (with handles falling off or already fallen off), poor ventilation and radiators probably still there from when it was built this building is an absolute dump.
Outside there is a big field but most of the time it's closed, there is also a big empty plot of land that is fenced off (its where the building with asbestos used to be) being perfect place for a gathering spot with some seating, oh wait, there used be a "band stand" there that was perfect for that but it was to popular so they got rid of it just like they're trying to get people to buy stuff other then the paninis by making it so the people who do want to get them go last when getting to buy food instead of getting better food.
This school is often called a prison or military camp with it being compared to Auschwitz by some student, every morning you have to line up on the playground while the head of your year slowly makes their way round checking every single student has the equipment they need, like the planners and knowledge organisers that go completely unused, this progress usually takes around 6-10 minutes depending if the teachers want to have a chinwag during this.
This also happens no matter the temperature, with the only exception being if its raining, they also have us face with our backs to wards the sun, giving those of us who still wear the black blazers a nice searing.
The teachers have no fun, you tell a joke to them that could make anyone laugh and they'll look at you as if you've murdered everyone they've ever met and they've got a gun pointed at your skull as you're beging for forgiveness while they cock the gun and bang... What I'm saying is that they look at you with the most serious resting bitch face expression you'll ever see, it's as if they all think they're teaching in some posh public school in Cambridge or a professor as a prestigious university and if they even move a face muscle when they detect a slight hinge of humore they'll be shoot where they stand by Dr s****** himself, now this just strengthens my theory that he's Hitman (video game character) but that's not important (Mr E***** is fine, he tries to be funny but he isn't and just feels like an old man trying to relate with the kids, there's also his famous "young man" line wich can be annoying because it seems to be one of the only things he'll say when he sees you out of lesson and you try to talk)
The way they deal with bullying is terrible, because they don't, you can tell em you're getting bullied and they won't do anything unless you've been stabbed and a teacher saw it, and even then they'll just pull the person who did it out of class and tell them to be nicer in future and send them on their merry way.
But one the other hand you call something "gay" and they'll kick you out for being homophobic even though these days calling something negative "gay" isn't used in a homophobic way, it's just a part of Internet vocabulary and I know some gays who say it.
I think the school need improvement because the teaching is poor and they are not learning anything I think the school need improvement because the teaching is poor and they are not learning anything I think the school need improvement because the teaching is poor and they are not learning anything
I’m am one of the younger years and is constantly being called names, teachers do nothing about it. The Pastoral/team always tell your parents everything even if you don’t want them too ext; problems happening with me, arguments, or just me mentally. This school is a prison and they treat us like prisoners, don’t come here.
Attended his school from the late 2000s to the early 2010s in the Autism Unit and then at Sixth Form. Suffered bullying from fellow students (younger and my age) throughout, especially during the last two years of my education at the Abbey. The school was ineffective with dealing with bullying and let it persist.
The culture amongst my peers and some teachers (such as my sly two-faced PE teacher from Years 8 to 11 who twice antagonised me for no reason) deteriorated over my time at the school and became fragile of which they were the main cause due to me being overwhelmed with everything and them being incapable of understanding and blindly not caring and I felt they were acting entitled, incredibly arrogant of which they needed disciplining, and unfairly pointed the finger at me to wrong me unfairly.
During my final year, several of the Year 12 students seemed to think they were haughty and did not have any respect for others. I did (and still) dislike some of the staff and the exams officer (whom I resent and has a boorish personality that he is proud of) for their patronising attitude and they seem to play down students issues and focus on small, insignificant problems. The Dover Athletic Football Academy players who went to the Abbey thought they were god's gift and were proudly insolent, a typical behaviour from a footballer.
All of this has taken its toll on me emotionally and mentally and I still suffer the effects of what has happened to me at this school to this day. Please stay away from this school for your own sake.
It’s unbelievable how close minded and uneducated the majority of the leadership team are about the reality of the people within a modern day school. Many of them don’t understand mental health at all and some completely refuse to understand the lives of the lgbtq+ community within our school (one RE teacher on the other hand is amazing). Some of the well-being team will make rude comments about misbehaving kids behind their backs. The headteacher demands respect and has taken no effort to try and earn it. Most students have given up on the rules because they get changed on a daily basis depending on what he wants. There is absolutely no room for individuality or personal growth at this school. It’s grades and how we look to the community more than the personalities and non-academic achievements of the kids that matters to the Head. This is a very small summary of what makes this school so awful. I actually feel sorry for the most recent year 7 because they have to deal with this place for 5 more years. Please don’t put your child through this.
This school has now been recorded as inadequate by ofsted in the 2022 inspection mainly focusing on the serious failings in safeguarding. To be honest it’s not a surprising report but it finally shows how the new rule of Dr.Speller has brought the school down to a level which matches those of the worst schools in Kent. All the pupils and staff has see why the school has been given this grading for the past 3-4 years. Having to live through the most important years of school life with a headteacher who couldn't care less about mental health and the safety and well-being of the pupils is very hard but at least now everyone can read about what we had to endure.
This school is disgusting! A year 7 had a house fire and all they had was some black trainers someone had given them, they were okay with it for about 2-3 terms. But after that the person got an all day for the trainers. They expect everyone to have so much money. The teachers are terrible one of them called me “stupid” the head teacher of this school has also said to a year 7 that she is “the love of his life” I’m pissed off! The head teacher cares more about the appearance then the actual learning. Someone had also got a C1 for yawning and then they got a C2 for not being ready fast enough. This school puts so much pressure on you that they forget we’re human to. They treat us like robots. They over work kids. You also can’t live a life outside of that school. If it was the weekend and a teacher saw you fighting you would get an all day on Monday and a half hour or an hour detention. Terrible school, wouldn’t recommend at all.
Horrendous school, I was bullied unmercifully during my time there and the teachers did nothing. I had to move schools for the nightmare to end. I seriously considered taking my own life at one point.
don’t go here the head teacher only cares about how the schools reputation looks and not the actual learning..you’ll get sent to isolation with a half an hour after school detention for accidentally forgetting a pen or a book. they treat students like robots and line us up like were training to be in the military x
Teachers at this school are like students. They argue with the kids like they’re the same ages as them then blame the kids that they’re to childish, what do they expect they’re 11-16. Whenever there is an incident between a student and a member of staff the staffs side is chosen no matter the situation just so he school can keep a god reputation(even though they where put in the local newspaper September 2019 for how bad the new rules are) I could go on all day but yeah not a great school overall (also had 10k worth of stuff stolen from the building site for the new building during lockdown so only just buying proper fencing)
The school falusly calmes that they are great whith bullying and kids whith disabilitys but in reality the school dose nothing it was like a prison teachers never felt whith bullying properly and if you weren't brainy or popular you'd be left in the back of the class to struggle
