Bring back Mrs Jones. She was the best head we had. She talked to you as a person, dealt with bullies and cared about us. Now we have a military boot camp
got bullied so badly at this school nd they did nothing about it traumatised me so much I still to this day cannot get into school and I was only there for a few months honestly has ruined my life. Education was terrible and so were all the teachers. literally saw a girl getting dragged down the corridor on my first day no joke. food was also terrible and always out of date or hard from being cooked over and over
Do not go here I’ve put multiple reports in for bullying (2023) nothing has been done not even a reply email and it was going on for months I had to get my friends to help me getting them caught up in it too also uniform is stupid if ur child or u are plus size from maybe xL upwards don’t go here they don’t sell uniform that will fit u as the waist band is the same on all sizes as a xS also (TW SA) I was constantly sexually assaulted and reported the boy multiple times only for nothing to be done leading up to me being raped in school grounds during the school day (2019-2021) I also reported that for nothing to be done and ended up going to the police 2023 only to have lack of evidence as it was so long ago this boy did this to more than 1 girl I personally know 6 others who have been violated by him too but the school didn’t take our reports serious but do u know what they did do, they took his reports abt being called a ‘pedo’ serious, and have had assembly’s regarding this ‘bad behaviour’ 🙄 . The school does not care abt ur mental health at all only uniform and billing cases they have time for but one good think is the teachers (not the leadership staff) most of the teachers are lovely and help with mental health some of the time but it does help compared to the leaderships idea of help. The art department is amazing I recommend for 6th form as they have a lot of good facilities and lovely teachers who treat u so nice they are lovely. If ur gunna go to this school be careful and go staring to the police even for minor things but 6th form is defo something to look at if ur interested in a small college thing
This school is like living hell. The teachers do not care about your mental health AT ALL as they tell students to shut up, instead just care about uniform , student voice is pointless as the teachers are the ones that choose what happens with the school. Principal and assistant principal make the rules - but they do not follow them. In the mornings when it is cold we have to do this military style lineup which no one is liking and even tried to cut short break times to lineup. Some teachers sit on their phones all lesson after setting a task. You cannot buy food if you have no money so if u didn’t bring food you starve . If ur phone goes of you get detention but teachers phones can go off. You cannot go inside at break time. If u are 1 minute late you get lunch time detention. Ofsted need someone who has got eyes to review this mess as it is not getting better as bullying/vaping is getting worse but the teachers say it working…
litterly sitting in math rn writting this because how terrible this school is and how teachers are trash here
got bullied on the first week
chavs everywhere
Everyone vaping in the toilets wich is disgusting MOST ARE YEAR 7
older years coming in lessons and disturbing others
Teachers dont give a shit about you or your mental health actually they make a bunch of kids cry
Shit teaching skills and teachers dont know barley anything
R1's dont do anything when u report someone they have a chat with them and then leaves it as it is
They say they care about bullying but the only thing they care about is ur uniform
Punishments are shit and nobody goes too them
School overall isn’t to shabby but there’s loads of new rules in place that many of the students dislike such as line ups split breaks and no phones i am happy with not being allowed to use my phone in school but all of my friends are in ks4 yet i am in ks3 so i have no friends to hang out with i think if we are separated from our friends at break we should be allowed out phones. I think line ups after break time is pointless and that we should go straight to lessons and get an extra 5 minutes of break as we don’t have enough time to get out food eat it and go to the toilet. Most of the teachers are lovely but some not so but over all not to bad
It used to be good when we had a lovely headteacher up to 2021.. She dealt with bullies and came into lessons to make sure we were being taught well. Now we have a headteacher who shouts and screams and we have to behave like we are in a military camp. It’s making me suffer with anxiety and no one cares. It all went down so quick
Please read this before sending your child to tavistock college
Terrible absolutely terrible lots of people drop out due too mental health problems multiple teachers on a power trip all focus on uniform not on student wellbeing and will NOT listen to students the schools "student voice" is completely controlled by staff choices not the students which defeats the object take no consideration for the individual pupil and tell you to embrace individuality whilst as the same time suppressing any opinion that opposes the ideas of the school not to mention the military style line ups and ridiculous punishments it is a full day detention for not giving them your phone if using it in your OWN break time but only a missed lunchtime if you swear at the staff, bullying still persists even though they tell us otherwise lunchtime and break time is hell you spend 10 percent getting food 90 percent hiding from pupils and staff, take what you will from this but please read a few other reviews for a bigger picture :)
it’s honestly horrible in yr 11 on my last year it’s so stressful and teachers do nothing to help just lies and lies, half of them don’t even know what they’re on about. they want people on school but try to send them home when they’re uniform isnt correct
terrible,
line ups at morning and after break
Teachers LOVE too scream at us
make kids cry
only care about mental health because of there reviews
one toilet we all have too share
miltitary like rules
covid fest
ofsted rlly needs someone with actual eyes too check this pig stye out seriously..
THIS SCHOOL SUCKS
You have to line up in the morning and after break - cut short break to do so, its like a military camp, 1 toilet for the whole school at break times, teachers LOVE screaming at kids due to not being in single file line causing some students (including myself) to have meltdowns, ALL lessons so boring, like a dictatorship, most teachers break the uniform rules, teachers can't deal with basic problems, so depressing attending this military camp, during line ups, teachers talk to one another but if a student does not face forward they lose break times, kick everyone outside at breaktimes to ReDuCe BuLlYiNg - makes no difference. Ofsted need to come back asap
No student support,!!!! all good support staff are leaving or left! . The place is depressing!!!! I’m not talking to a mentor or A HOY!!!! Nah! Everyone walking on eggshells, anxiety is rife, teachers are stressed, seem like no one cares anymore! I’ve been so miserable always support staff in and we don’t learn anything! When it’s a year long temp and we learn nothing - then given a bloody assess! I’ve dropped on some of my grades, told to go online for support! - also told no mobiles so I can’t call mum when I am anxious. Took away my safety net and put nothing else in place. Major issues here! Staff come first to them, then students- spoken down to all the time. No idea how to talk to teenagers
-we are human.. No positoveness, no respect. I hate it now , it’s like a prison baml
Give is some respect and stop treating us like luu
This school sucks
Morning line ups if ur caught whispering u will loose break time
No privacy for toilets
Only care about discipline and uniform
Teachers are so strict
U are forced to go out side at break time
Barely anytime to eat at break
Teachers love screaming at people
All lessons are SO boring a like a snooze fest
So depressing attending this place
Like a military camp
got bullied on 2nd week of joining, I have seen multiple teachers make their students cry, they only "care" about your mental health because they got bad reviews. they do nothing about bullying at all and care more about uniform than your health anyway
The school needed a change with the uniform and behaviour going out of hand after covid and they have recently delt with it unfairly by stating they listened to students + parents,
They did not send out one email to any parents and the new change has affected everyone I know badly since they’re focused on re-enforcing punishments to a extent, removing privacy eg school bathroom doors, extending school time and punishing the less fortunate for not being able to afford a 50 quid blazer! They have also change the punishment system to r1s and including that they contact home and try to turn your parents against you, not only will you get punished at school and struggle, it will follow you him further so you will get no escape. The teachers there are lovely and just trying to do their job but most of them aren’t allowed a opinion because they’re being controlled and the education is okay when you’re not being told how to look and breathe. Not only do I feel like I’m being bullied by the school I’m sure others do to, not wanting to go school because you know there’s someone waiting at the gate waiting to comment on how you look or punish you for not being able to afford the expensive clothing- you aren’t allowed inside unless it’s hailing it down and there’s no shelter outside
Not only has Tristan Forster failed to provide a good learning and behavioural system within Tavistock college but the teachers lack basic knowledge of the subjects they teach. Not only this, but the students behaviour here has absolutely disgusted me and as a student here myself I have been bullied, physically and mentally harmed and the teacher will do nothing about this, I am appalled at the behaviour of all people who run and go to this school and you definitely should NOT let your child go to this school, they will fail to learn any education and probably want to kill themselves after their 1st year
The teachers are really nice but the head or years need to listen to what they are saying to the kids bc they tell u u can’t wear tight skirts or more than one necklace but they do it themselves. I got SA’d and reported it over five times and nothing was done and I was made to sit next to the kid who did it for3 more years which lead to it happening more times, I could go on with the list of bad things that happened there but my point is go to another school please.
This school cares about uniform more than their own students mental health.
they are focused on giving after school detention on uniform than giving help for mental reasons.
Whenever a teacher walks past whatever you think about how you need to do every single thing that will make them happy with you times ten.
The school is a good size, and it has good facilities in most cases. However that’s all it has going for it. Teachers that really care about individuals are few and far between, the school puts immense pressure on punishment, without even considering any other alternatives, and this creates a very toxic and threatening environment. If the school just changed their old fashioned approach, and hired some nicer teachers that actually cared, then it could potentially be a nice school. But it’s not, my best possible advice would be to stay away from this school unless they completely change things around, but from my experience they don’t like change all that much, so I very much doubt that will happen. The toxic environment of this school will have a serious negative impact on anyone who goes here’s mental health, and the school won’t do anything to help or rectify this.
its horrible, all they care about is uniform and only performing well when important people visit, majority of the teachers aren’t understanding with mental health and they make it worse usually.
An absolutely awful experience. Nothing is done about bullying and the list for counseling is months long. Teachers ignore your needs. I couldn't wait to get away.
They stopped doing some subjects so I couldn't do them at gcse. When looking at a levels the ones I wanted weren't available so I went somewhere much better which my teachers contested and tried to tell me I was making a mistake. Best descicion of my life was to go somewhere else, this allowed me to excel and get accepted into multiple universities.
For some subjects I had supplies for months who weren't specialised in the subject. For geography for a full year we watched tornado chasers instead of learning the curriculum. For my English gcse we were placed in mixed ability groups. When I asked when I would learn something of use, as I had already mastered the use of capital letters by age 15,I was told I could teach myself at home.
They also have pastors walking around the school which I think is weird as it's a non religious school. I was also placed into a Christian group in year 7 to help make friends as I was from a small school. I had to miss maths which made me feel further excluded. As a non religious person in an allegedly non religious school this was incredibly strange.
DT and arts department are underfunded, they struggled to buy things as simple as paint. The teachers of these subjects are incredible and the only good thing about the school. They manage to make do without much. Half the sewing machines didn't work so it was hard to have a full class working, projects went unfinished a lot.
Teachers are sometimes nice and others gang up on you and intimidate you and then when reported act like the kid is lying. Bad with safety and mental health. But ok ish. Some teachers do make me cry a lot
The school is perfect, from the size for someone coming from a smaller school, the resources for each department, the range of GCSE subject, the teachers properly helping and challenging you and caring about your life at home, a wide range of food served in a uncongested area, how the school is quite diverse and is defintely excepting of all races, religions and sexualities and how bullying isn't a thing especially compared to other schools like ivybridge
I believe this school is perfect for someone coming straight from year 6. First of all the school isnt as big as others so it's not overwhelming: Second the resources for learning (such as paint in art, dictionaries in languages and a whole host of P.E equipment and spaces) are good;Theres a wide range of GCSE subjects to choose from such as all the arts and types of D.T; The teachers are pretty good, from my experience none have been horrible except from one who has changed now, the rest are very supportive and seem to care about things outside of school such as mental health or why you may not be getting to school on time; Bulling isnt really a thing defintely comparee to the other schools such as Ivybridge, in my stint in this school I had never even heard of any bullying happening so I'm not sure why someone said it's a big problem; and this school is amazing on the food side of thing with there be two areas in the refectory to get your food (to reduce congestion) whether that be a proper meal on a plate or something such as panini or burger. Overall I'd say: this school is perfect for someone coming from a pretty small primary school as it's not so hard to get lost; someone who loves P.E, art, drama, music, D.T (of any kind) and anyone who likes the other subjects such as maths or english; and how this school will meet all your needs
seems like an average school, some of the teachers are great and some are alright. dont go to them for anything but grades though, they dont care about mental health at all. staff sometimes say discriminatory things and then students get in trouble because all the staff gang up and act like the student was lying. racist and homophobic language is very common and goes unpunished. overall - average, but be careful.
