A nice school, with a great, friendly atmosphere, as well as strong academics. Obviously, has its own flaws, such as the fact that there are a few teachers who know their subject well and struggle to teach it to others, but all schools have flaws.
Unlike many schools, this school’s focus on mental health is pretty decent, with an in house counsellor, and teachers who are very supportive. They also have an Academic Support during Wednesday lunchtimes, where all teachers are available to talk to children struggling with work [started by Head: Ms Dawson]. This school is also pretty lax with their dress code, in order to ACTUALLY promote self expression.
The academics are also really strong, and teachers always provide ways of pushing students to do their best, as well as a wide range of clubs and competitions to get involved with. They have a nice outdoor space, as well as a decently sized eating area (though recently, since the closure of Old Palace, this has been a strain).
Bullying levels are quite low and dealt with well, and students are not overly worked. School day ends at 3:30, with homework being due in no less than 2 working days since set, in order not to overload students - and grades are still flying high.
Food is questionable though - while I believe it’s decent, most people say it isn’t, so you’ll have to make your own decision here. There is a pretty wide range of things they do, so that’s quite nice. One thing is that since changing the kitchen, the school has had a lesser variety of halal food. There is halal food, but much less than before, and there is no halal food in Geogia’s Cafe (the eating area for Sixth Form). There vegetarian options though.
It’s a really nice school for students who want to be pushed academically without taking a massive toll on mental health, would recommend!
