I was and still am a student at this marvellous academy since the start of year seven, and I intend to remain here for sixth form. Thanks to this school’s excellent, professional and experienced teachers, in particular: Miss Jugg, Miss Bozhilova, Miss Smalley, Miss Harrison, Mr Cruxon, Miss Evans, Mr Midcalf, Miss Brunt and others, I was able to achieve almost a full set of grade 9s and a few 8s in all of my year 10 mocks, and a grade 9 in GCSE statistics. These teachers don’t give up on their students. Instead, they give up their own time and energy to explain their subject matter to us, offering free interventions, extra - curricular activities and more to their students, for which they don’t get paid. Other than masterful teachers, this school also has great premises. People have completely renovated the humanities and science departments, and other areas since I have arrived in year 7, and is currently working on renovating the theatre.
Admittedly, this school does have a few flaws such as an incredibly loud, blaring alarm used as a bell every time a lesson starts and ends, which gave me tinnitus one night and the coat rule which creates more problems than it solves(congestion at entrances, for example). I spoke about this to some teachers and they fully agreed with me, but they chose not to speak up to the senior leadership team. Another flaw is that it contains some truly badly behaved students, but that is not the school’s fault. Anyone can be admitted here. And students’ habits are difficult to change. But these flaws are invisible to me compared to all of the aforementioned advantages. I am grateful and proud to be a student at SCA. It metamorphosed me into someone with a good shot at achieving his goal in life. Once again, and forevermore, i am grateful and proud to be a student at SCA. That will never change.
Absolutely god awful school. Students and teachers alike have horrible attitudes towards anyone they don't personally agree with. If you look even slightly off from their chavvy standards, 9 times out of 10 you'll be bullied and shoved in the hallways or yelled 'Emo' at every day. Only good thing about it is the ham & cheese paninis. Glad to be leaving this year, wouldn't dream of sending my future children here xoxo
it’s the worst school ever you can’t be sad or you get iso you can’t do anything and some teachers don’t even let you go toilet even when your on your period they are the worst
this school is appauling teachers dont care and you do not get the help ive been waiting since year 8 for suport im now in yr11 doing my GCSEs there are 6 vice princeples no affence but what school needs that many vice principles its ridiculous
the way teachers treat us students is apauling they dont care unless your labeled ive had many occasionns where about three male staff members was in a small room with me and shut the door for them to shout at me also had jimmy tell me i wasnt aloud in school as i had no school shoes so i was in my trainers until my mum coud get some that weekend also had teachers try and belittle me and others also if you stick up for urself you get into trouble
There's a terrible amount of things that happened at this school I'm gonna name a few.
Teacher kicked me out of class and as I left the teacher said "Wanted to get him out early."
I had to do half days and the only time I could see my friends was Break time because they had me stay in the "Hub" all day except break.
Got pinned down even though I was in a locked room with no other children. (The only legal reason to pin down a student is if they are a danger to other students.)
Had a kid throw a bottle at my leg and I got isolation.
As you walk in and go up the stairs it looks pretty nice but as you leave the entrance area the roof is dirty and half the lights are broken.
I am currently expelled for trying to get out from underneath the teachers when they pinned me.
These all seem like little inconveniences but they really impacted me.
This school is appalling and very draining, as a student who attends. The teachers clearly dont care about what they're doing but rather their paychecks. Some teachers teach from fear, as they did in the 1950's which is atrocious. What this school decides to spend money is actually ridiculous. They spent 5k on sports day, but because of this funding they fired the school counsellors because they couldnt afford it which is genuinely disgusting. Any form of hate criming such as sexism or homophobia is quickly swept under the rug and victims get told that they were "just jokes". The food is frequently undercooked, and highly overpriced for what it is. The way they teach here is baffling and after spending four years of my life here, i can confidently state that this school has not only failed me but helped with destroying my mental health and grades. Would never recommend this dump.
oh my! this school is 100% better than Quarrydale Academy. What i like about this school is that the bathrooms are gender neutral and clean. People are commenting that this school is sh!t. There is a couple of d!ckheads but we don't talk about this. There are cleaners in this school which do their job properly and try their best. There is hand sanitizer everywhere on the walls where students can use the product. However in this school there is no period blood on the walls like quarrydale. Would be better if there was more bins in the toilets and more period products, eg: tampons as well as pads. Overall great school! would recomend!!!!!!!
This school is currently the worse school in Ashfield and it needs sorting, we have staggered starts and breaks to stop contact with other year groups however we leave at the same time and mix. Every lesson you are sat in a classroom cramped with 30 other pupils for an hour at a time. We are not allowed to have the heating on cause we have vents rather than radiators as well as having to keep the windows and doors open for ventilation while we are heading towards winter and we are not allowed coats on? If Ofstead came in without warning, they would see the school as it really is due to not have a whole school PowerPoint telling us what to do when they come in. I guarantee that we would be shut down with effect of immediately.
Vice principal is sexist, years 8 and 9 still mix at the start and end of school. Most of the teachers are not saying in their own bubbles that have been set in place. Overall terrible with handling most things. Some teachers are doing it properly but only 1 or 2.
