They need guidence to improve soon or the students will end up breaking out and going to the shops instead of the acu
The worst school
The school itself has many faults, me as a student has seen many coverd up fights and the students vape, eat in the toilets and have at least 3 people in the cubicle at one time on there phones during class they refuse children to go to the toilet (which is illegal by law.if a parent was doing that it would be took to the police so why can the school do it) they put the naughty kids into a refocus room were they mess about and do nothing all day they can talk and listen to music whenever they want. the uniform for the girls is ridiculous there skirts are so high that boys can see there bum and pants and they just stare and the girls don't care. The students get disrespected when they want to put in a opinion and the teacher will tell them off, give out detentions for personal views. Personally, I do not like the school it is pathetically hidden by the teachers to make them look god for ofstead if they looked in the conditions of the toilets they would be shocked they could probably sew them for lack of hygiene. Finally, the children get shouted at so bad that people can here it from top floor in a classroom with the door closed from bottom floor. The school is pathetic and very poorly set up
Absolute joke. They take pride and joy in their “safeguarding” team yet i have heard that on multiple occasions that they have let students who are struggling mentally down. The most recent story I’ve heard is of my mates daughter being sent back to lesson in the middle of a panic attack! They need to sort themselves out. “success through caring my 🍑”
Good for a school in this area academically however they appear to care about mental health as their motto is ‘success through caring’ when really that’s not the case as they brush off children who are struggling and simply not in a state to go to lesson as they’re crying or having a panic attack. My daughter doesn’t want to go in some days as she’s struggling in the morning with anxiety and knows that she won’t be supported in the day and will made to go to lesson until she has a panic attack surrounded by 30 kids and has to walk out the door infront of them. They know about this issue but still treat her as a problem rather than someone struggling. Fuming. Don’t get me started on the toilet situation, she has messaged me as she’s been on the verge of an accident and the teacher won’t let her go and when she finally does get to go rarely the toilets on that floor are locked so she has to walk up and down the stairs and then is told ‘she took too long.’ However when she doesn’t get to go, there are queues for the toilet at break and lunch, which is ridiculous and she’s been threatened that if she is in the toilets while other students are vaping or vandalizing she will be met with the same consequence which is absolute madness. They’re told if they go in and see these misbehaving students they need to leave and they won’t get in trouble , but if she’s bursting to go she will have an accident if she leaves and goes to find the other toilet?
Whilst I appreciate it is not just Summerhill School, but the teaching profession has a lot to answer for. It is absolutely appalling that they decide to close half day at the end of term. A cm of snow that fell few weeks back, that melted by 10am, resulted in a day closure, and it was a Friday! Conveniently. Do they not have enough annual leave that parents have to battle with their own employers to make sure we are available to collect their children. I think the profession and the T&Cs that come with their employment need looking at.
