This school is terrible. Craig Knowles the principal screams in kids faces for no reason . Sabah malik is on her second strike and tells the girls they have 30 seconds to change pads and tampons. They label kids with autism as “autistic people” I think this is a disgrace as this school is meant to be targeted towards kids with send d needs. This school is not comforting nor a safe place I used to walk around this school feeling targeted they cause kids to have panic attacks and meltdowns and do nothing but send them to an isolation room or exclude them. Does not help children who have mental health issues or understand them or sort out bullying issues. They lock the toilets aswell which is against human rights which u can only go if u have a medical pass you can sit and cry and they won’t let you go and at break and lunch time students look over toilet stalls and teachers bang on your door, threatened by nicola jane thackray to squirt water over the toilet stall because i was having a wee. Male staff go in female toilets and knock on doors which isn’t allowed by law, the school threatens pupils to be good before ofsted comes they also excluded me for a week because ofsted was coming. Vicky best refuses to teach students causing a massive impact on gcses, this has happened with multiple students and caused them to feel really ashamed of themselves.
If the student isn’t liked by the teacher holds grudges and resentment against them concluding of them not being able to max out their full potential in that class over one silly thing that the teacher holds a grudge for. They hire staff who assault kids and do nothing about it except stick up for the teacher and punish the kids because in this school the teachers are “always right” there is video evidence of this also. A girl can complain about her period such as leaking or not feeling secure yet still be taught to go back to their lesson which then also causes distress and uncomfortable feelings during the lessons and some children’s lunch times aren’t till 1:30pm meaning they have to wait the whole day yet there is also a huge que and they only let in about 4 students at a time miss malik let’s one person in at a time which is a disgrace and holds everyone back as the lunch time is only 30 minutes giving them no free time because they are stood waiting for the toilet.
This school is really easy to hop the fence meaning safeguard issues as kids can leave the school whenever and anyone can enter the school through that which could be unsafe for not only students and staff. The school has multiple broken toilets and sinks also some doors get broken too meaning that’s also a safety hazard, locks get ripped or the toilets and the disability toilet is locked by the staff meaning students who need to access the disabled toilet can’t because the teachers drilled it shut.
The learning environment is also terrible as some staff lack in class resources and stability to keep the class composed and a good learning environment, they put students with high ability mixed with lower ability students meaning both higher and lower ability will struggle to excel in the subject they’re studying and when you bring this up to the teachers they don’t care enough to move you out of this class.
If I could rate this a 0 I would.. This school changed for the worse when the trust came in.. Children sat doing gcse's with sometimes no teacher turning up...children just told to copy out of books instead of the teacher actually taking an interest in educating the children.. The children rule the teachers and just do what they want when they want.. A part of the fence is missing "major safeguarding issue" and children can escape through it and
Still to this day it hasn't been repaired despite them being contacted..
Children are given rewards for trips that have been given c4s c5s and detentions.. Children are forgotten about.
The uniform rules are non existent and pupils turn up for school looking like there on a night out that actually getting ready for a day of learning..
If you're child has any sort of Nero diversity just don't bother sending them.. No offers of support are ever put in place and their way of dealing with the "naughty" children is to give them constant detentions rather than actually get to the root of the problem and offer support.
I could go on but I'll leave it there. Best thing studio west could do is shut the doors and keep them shut.. Forever
If I could give this school a minus I would, and that may be too good for it! The decent teachers have left the sunken ship! Now it’s full of “people” who care more about what coats kids have on than education, I use that word extremely lightly! There is no provision at all for SEND pupils, my child colours in for her education there! The male teachers go into the girls toilets (when they’re open!) “teachers” place their hands on your child and refuse to let you see the cctv footage, the “teachers” look more like prison wardens with their high visibility jackets on! Don’t ever expect a problem to be dealt with that’s if you’re lucky enough to speak to someone in the first place! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!!
It is such a shame that this school, which was once a lovely place to work and study and had staff who worked so hard to give the best for all the students, is now falling apart and leaving the students without qualified teachers, and leaving the teachers, who previously made the school the amazing place it was, leaving in droves. The new trust promised so much and not only failed to deliver, but has destroyed the very heart and soul of the school. The students are not being taught properly, with instances of the entirety of year nine being taught English in the lecture hall due to the lack of teachers, and even then, lessons have been sporadic, jumping between reading ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ without any analysis of the text or clear structure.
At recent parent’s evenings (which all occurred on the same day, with parents only able to see their child’s form tutor) the data provided were extremely insufficient, with students missing subjects on their report cards and no record of current attainment or target goals. The interventions that were listed for students who were not making expected progress (whatever that may entail) included having work marked, being asked questions in class, and having feedback given on pieces of homework (laughable in itself, as some students report only having received three pieces of homework this academic year). While inexperienced in teaching myself, I was under the impression that these ‘interventions’ should come part and parcel with one’s role as a teacher, and are not merely appendages only necessary for struggling students.
There is no ambition to see change in the community, neither to see the students make progress and achieve great things. At the year 9 options evening, the implication given was that most students need only strive for a grade 4 in English and Maths. While previously students felt supported and encouraged by the teachers, there is now no belief that they can achieve well, and all of this results in a vicious circle of low input from staff and students and unmanageable behaviour.
As a previous student at Studio West who was supported and encouraged throughout my school career, leading to my achieving straight A* equivalents at GCSE level, it is appalling to me that, under new leadership, students who should be attaining top grades, and almost undoubtedly would do so if they were being taught well, are being told that they should be satisfied with a low pass grade, meanwhile students who are finding work difficult are not getting the support and encouragement they need to achieve well and find their passion.
The school ethos was, in the past, modelled by the staff, who made many sacrifices for the sake of the students and would do everything within their power to ensure them a good education and the possibility to achieve great things. Now, behaviour and management of it are appalling and it is generous to call Studio West a school. It breaks my heart that this has happened to the school I was once proud to represent. When the trust first took over, I was naively optimistic, expecting the school to go be improved further and reach its full potential. In fact, I was hesitant with my criticism, as I understand the inevitability of some disruption with such drastic changes. I am one who tries to see the good in everything and I can say with no word of a lie that I waited to see if things would turn around before writing this comment. Now, however, there is no denying that the changes made have been detrimental to the school. My sincere hope is that investigations will take place and the interventions made will be transformative in the right way. I also cannot write this without expressing my gratitude to the amazing staff and teachers at Studio West who only last year were fighting tooth and nail to get the best possible outcomes for pupils, and who were always there to help, encourage and teach. All the teachers went the extra mile and made school a place where everyone felt welcomed and loved. I will always be indebted to them for putting on extra catch-up lessons in the holidays and within the school day to make sure that we were confident going into our exams, and their persistence in turning up to help us revise, even when only a handful of students could make it. They will always hold a special place in my heart and I know that the pain I feel at the state of Studio West is nothing compared to that felt by them.
Well... Don't even get me started with this school the bare white halls lessons disappearing of timetables teachers dropping like flies and why is this ? Moria green
I have my dislikes for a few teachers in there the biggest are James Robinson and Andrew Dryden both walk around acting like there something they are not Mr Dryden is just a baldy bean anyway and James Robinson needs to actually get a grip of reality instead of sticking fingers in kids shoes go back to where you belong
And don't even get me started with Moira green her skirt is too tight and she looks like a snake she has the Nerve telling girls to pull there skirts down when her skirt is literally 10 sizes to small
This school has certainly left it's mark on my child... and not a positive one! The trust should be utterly ashamed of itself in it's treatment of the pupils. For months things have been hidden from parents lessons disappearing from timetables, no free access to computer rooms for A level students , cancelling and closing down sixth form 6 month into their study time! Hiding the problems from parents until the very last minute giving next to no time for students to find alternative options, and let's not speak about the prison wardens sorry I mean hall monitors, and teachers 'leaving' in their droves... please please avoid this school. Nothing but disappointment and heartbreak.
