Massive Disappointment

My son was continuously picked on , bullied, thrown around like a rag doll , picked up by other students , touched by a student that made him feel uncomfortable . We got to the point where it was pointless complaining as nothing was done . It was a group of boys that stuck together and just lied and stuck to the same story ! Teachers just believed them leaving my son dealing with detention for making things up . The final straw was my husband heard the abuse of these boys through my sons bedroom door on a loudspeaker phone , it was horrendous . We removed him immediately from the school , we had no choice . My son was terrified to go back as he explained every time we complain it makes it worse for him at school

rubbish school

Stradbroke high school was lovely when my sister was there, but over the past few years as they have employed new teachers its become an absolute dump. Mistreating students, the teachers don't care about the students, why should they?
The meals though are quite nice bur I'm not a fan of the pizza Tuesdays and Thursdays most of the people I know can't eat pizza and there are no other option until Lunch so the students have to go hungry. GSCES are so stressful for year 11s its unbearable, One person could report you for "bullying" and they won't even look into what happens, they don't take a single thing seriously, this whole school is a joke, so many people go to Stradbroke for a better chance in education but Stradbroke don't care about:
‣you
‣your mental health
‣your opinion
‣your MEDICAL problems
The school won't let you go to the toilet unless you're on the list but what about
‣periods??
‣actually desperate people
If you don't say anything back to the teacher they say
"oh, you've got nothing to say now"
but if you do talk back to the teacher they just send you straight out of the classroom

Overall, the next person to leave Stradbroke high school consider yourself lucky

strad...

the teachers are rude, disrespectful and their expectations are so high for such a bad school. they cant even do their job right. the toilets are not to be used during lesson time as its 'a distraction' to our learning, wrong right? us year 11's dont get a break from the school, giving us too much homework as well as revision which should be done each night, yet i cant find the time for it as im completing some useless sheet. the english department has some of the rudest teachers- who simply tell us one thing then say heres a test, do it. they dont teach us anything and they have left it to the last week to teach us how to the language paper 2, the last week. i cant explin how bad the school is in this, just stay off it. dont go there, itll be hell for you as well as your parent.

Stradbroke failed me as a student.

Stradbroke has become a mess over the years that I’ve been there. Some of the teachers are half-decent but the others are downright atrocious at their jobs. The science department lacks specifically, the teachers can’t even teach their own subjects. The English department has never taught anyone anything and their method of teaching is awful, same goes for the maths department. The school is too focused on its sports department and it needs to calm down, they care so much less for any form of performing arts. They treat their students like robots and expect them to write a 20 mark exam question in 5 minutes, it’s simply not possible. The whole rule with the toilets and being disallowed to go during lessons are awful, many female students complain about not being able to change their sanitary products during lesson because they’re either leaking or they couldn’t do it during break and lunch. The hallways are always a mess, the buses are a tip but the school does nothing. And the most recent thing is the year 11 interventions, revision is important and the whole year knows that, but they only get 2/5 lunches free nowadays, Tuesday it’s maths, Wednesday it’s English and Thursdays it’s science, it’s important but why are they compulsory? They should be optional, year 11 is stressful and students should be allowed to take a break, many of them complain about sore arms and cramping hands by the end of lunch. Interventions should be optional for every student, their grades depend on their will of learning and if they don’t want to attend these revision sessions then fine, it’s not the students fault that their teachers failed to teach them what they’re supposed to know. Interventions were optional the past few years, so why is it compulsory now? And they don’t care about students mental health as much as they say they do, they overwork students until they’re at a breaking point and all they do when a student is upset is just tell them to calm down. They don’t offer assistance to anyone who isn’t ‘special’ despite many students needing it. Don’t overwork your students.

Stradbroke isn’t the school it used to be. Be better.

Amazing! Best choice I’ve ever made :)

This school is absolutely amazing! I joined in the later half of year 7 after coming from a terrible school, and honestly it is the greatest decision I have ever made. The small community here is great as everyone knows each other and the year groups get on surprisingly well! (Aside from a few year 7’s who find it hilarious to scream and make weird noises whenever you pass them. It’s not. Please stop.)

Student leadership is very important which is cool and the teachers are incredibly friendly and helpful! Now I’m in preparation for GCSE’s and although I’m nervous, I definitely have a great support network. The food could be a bit better (from what I’ve heard others say) but maybe they could use less acronyms? They are alright but now we are reaching the point of an obsession really. Who need that many?

Everyone is incredibly supportive (from lessons to sports day!) and when I joined I was immediately welcomed by the kindest group of people I’ve ever met, and we still are all friends! (You’re stuck with me now! Hehe.) Overall I would 110% recommend coming here, you will have so much fun and be presented with so many opportunities!

Strad

A good school but honestly sometimes the teachers at the head of the school are a bit power crazy haha. We’re just a small school though so it’s really cool that all the teachers know every single student and I think this really adds to the quality of our education :) If you come here watch out for MADE- the school loves it’s acronyms.

Stradbroke.

The teachers don’t do anything about the major racism, homophobia, transphobia or anything, they just don’t bother. People on buses are nightmares but the school won’t do a single thing about them. Their support for students with mental health is telling them to just calm down, hold them uncomfortably and put them into a louder room than before. Some of the teachers can’t even do their jobs right. They can’t teach.
