Don’t send your child here especially if they are a Sen student

My daughter is Sen student she struggles with anxiety and has been bullied not only infront of teachers but also infront of a teaching assistant who sits with her in most lessons! Nobody defends my daughter it has caused her to have even worse anxiety now she doesn’t want to come to school. The school protects bullies more than it does victims and yet they have an anti bullying policy that they don’t follow. When I asked why the bullying is still occurring if it’s been dealt with I was told by the head teacher of year 8 she doesn’t have a magic wand. I’m appauld and disgusted by this school. I thought there sen department would be great and my child would be looked after. As soon as she starts a teacher screams in her face, then there was a sub teacher who clearly wasn’t aware her being a sen student tries to force her to do times tables on the board when my daughter is extremely behind academically and has no confidence what so ever. She panicked and got her time out pass out of her bag but before she could use it the teacher pulled her bag off her. Another teaching assistant to another child witnessed this. I was jus told he’ll never teach my child again. Then she had bullying with one child that seem to ware off. Then she’s had continuous bullying with this one individual who bullies lots of others. She vapes in the toilets so my daughter is scared to go to the toilet. She bullies her in lessons where there are adults who don’t say anything to protect or defend my child. My daughter has witnessed loads of fights one that really upset her a boy getting beaten up just so they could steal his coat. No teacher was there to help. Always hearing about weapons in this school and people being attacked outside of the school. The school is horrendous and is definitely not safe for a sen child. They don’t care about your child’s mental health here aslong as they are in school for their attendance. Well my daughters mental health and protection is way more important and I am so disgusted in this school.

Thumbs down

Schools like a circus at the moment. Treating bullies better they treating the victims. Don't like what parents have to say and try and protect the bully rather than the child who's actually victim. Teachers allowing violence in lessons then ignoring fights they can actually stop and avoid but choose to ignore us parents when trying to warn them

How COVID-19 was handled

Poor organisation, most of the staff do not care about their job role. Through the pandemic, the system used throughout the school to maintain social distancing was appalling, with 300 students on 1 staircase at one time. Further, masks were not allowed in lessons but were compulsory in corridors which I believe is pointless. A child should not feel unsafe because they want to protect themselves and others against a virus. These children might have vulnerable family members yet are not allowed to wear a mask in lessons.
