Going to that place was the worst time of my life . The amount of homophobia, transphobia , racism and bullying in general that was just aloud was absolutely disgusting it made and many people ik have to hide there self and feel sad by going in . Ever since I left my life has gotten so much better I can’t even remember a thing I learnt there other then how to avoid being targeted by chavs
One of the worst schools in Newcastle they allow people to bully you and if you defend your self when another student hits you and you hit them back in defence apparently that's not self defence don't send your kids here
A really bad school, teachers do not care about your education, they have a very limited knowledge of the topic they teach. Also bullying is rampant in this school as well as drugs. My education was neglected while at this school, when I left I studied for all my qualifications again at college and gained top marks. If you want your kid to have a good education and experience do not send your kid to this school.
Doesn't care for the students, at all unless you're middle class, straight and white.
I have heard fellow white students say racial slurs in class, as a way to bully and the teachers have heard but they simply do not care. The amount of homophobia too is insane, and is not a safe or welcoming place.
And then when they try and crack down on predjuice issues within assemblies, they don't even try to reprimand the students that are laughing or mocking the videos.
The yr7-11 uniform is cute mostly, but the sixth form one is ugly. Takes into 0 consideration the size of womens hips, plus size students or tall students.
The outdoor area is extremely disappointing as well. A massive field where you could spend just relaxing with your mates during the proper hot summer months and yet no you're forced to stand or try and speed for a seat.
However the quality of education is amazing, especially in the geography, maths and science departments.
And the lunch is actually lovely, only rarely ever been dissapointed with it.
Please do not send your child here if they have Sen, my son was discriminated against and his additional needs were not met by any staff. The ***** (how*** can live with*******) and the autism mentor were very unsupportive, both had no regard for the Sen code of practice totally ignored their duty to this, a very toxic environment for my son, He is now striving in another school wish I'd removed him sooner
Experience at the school has changed a lot due to the pandemic and I feel like you don’t get as much freedom and less things to do teachers are all nice except for some and students can either be bullies or be nice and teacher may not do much to prevent bullying but you get lots of trips which are fun and overall everything is fine
Worst experience of my life.
They made me hate education and i have no confidence in my ability, it was only until i moved school for sixth form i managed to achieve my actual potential. I had a hard time with anxiety and the staff punished mental health as laziness and forced you to a school councillor so that you wouldn’t move schools. The staff favouritism of students was rampant and this was reflected in the very harsh behaviour correcting. You aren’t allowed to have an identity and self growth is not facilitated. Homophobia with in the school is a huge problem and bullying just wasn’t dealt with. I felt intimated and disliked by the staff and it wasn’t a healthy learning environment one bit. Only a certain type of person can attend and not be mentally effected for the rest of their life.
Pros:
-Good academics but you have to put the work in. If you slack off they wont carry you.
Mass, if thats yout kind of thing.
-Some good teachers in higher ability classes, speak from experience.
-Good trips, eg. skiing in Austria
-Good design tech facilities. And art, textiles and food classes to a good enough/enjoyable standard if youre interested in that
Cons:
-Awful kids
-some awful teachers
-strict (and ugly) uniform
-Silly rules- no food outside dining room, no phones on the yard etc
-Forced into things like mass and prayer
-boring assemblys
