I am so glad to be a former student. Until I left, I didn't truly realise how poor my mental health truly was.
Education:
I only had three teachers who really cared about how I did. These were an english teacher, my maths teacher and the head of art. The french teacher and computer science teacher gave up on me. In fact, they stopped teaching french. You are forced to do a BTEC in sport. Whoever decided that made a truly poor choice.
Learning:
Terrible. No one except the teachers mentioned previously could control the class. I could tell you so many stories of the shenanigans that have occurred in the classroom its is outrageous. Students pulling other's trousers and pants down then proceeding to do the worm dance and tell him "to kill himself and do the world a favour because then he'd lessen the pressure on gravity". He was not told off for this, in fact he was laughed at by the teacher. Lots of students kicked in lockers and kicked over the water dispenser. The maths teacher was called a "terrorist" on many occasions.
Safety:
What a joke! The amount of people sneaking in drugs was ridiculous. There was also someone who was bringing knives in too as i saw them. I told the AHOY of year 11 and she accused me of lying and said if there were any drug users she would know. I did not feel safe at all.
Indoor and outdoor environment:
AWFUL! Rubbish everywhere! The water in the science classrooms is recycled from the roof and is certainly not suitable for drinking but students were told to fill their bottles from there if they needed a drink as teachers were afraid of letting students out to get a drink. The headteacher instills the fear of God in you.
Food:
Thank goodness I never had this. At times, people complained it was mouldy and disgusting yet was overpriced and deemed as 'adequate'!
Activities:
There are only sports club and a book club...what the hell!
Mental wellbeing:
Don't bother going to the AHOY 11! They are not good at all. When I was being bullied, she blamed it on paranoia. Little to nothing was done. In fact, it got to the point where I had awful thoughts and I physically was unable to speak to people due to fear. I would only talk to s select number of people. MY MATHS TEACHER DID A BETTER JOB HELPING THAN THE PASTORAL AHOY 11!!! Please tell me how THAT works! My parents went up and wouldn't stop complaining but she still didn't do ANYTHING!
Info:
Never did I feel more alone and unheard at school. I reached an absolute low. This school is evil. I woke up every morning with sadness, knowing id be faced with going there. No support was really offered with GCSEs either. In fact the guy in charge of the results left. This school went to the dogs in 2022 upon the head teacher changed. The new head could not even run a bath.
I AM BEGGING YOU: PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE, PLEASE SEND THEM ANYWHERE ELSE. THIS SCHOOL WILL DESTROY THEM.
Thank goodness after leaving I am in a better position mentally and I hope no one else has to go through this either.
Rubbish everywhere, bullying left right and center, they don't care about mental health even if they do all these things outside school, food is raw and cost way to much money, half of the teachers don't care about the children's grades, and it is rare to have fun there.
I have stress mental health they will help you if you speak to the right teachers. They do not like bullying all the staff and students are very nice if your not naughty
