DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE

This school deserves no stars. my child was bullied from year 7 to 11 .nothing happened school did nothing apart from fat shaming her themselves ,an absolute horrendous school DO NOT SEND CHILDREN HERE!!! They even went as far as trying to fine me for letting my child have a week off as her best friend had sadly committed suicide due to bullying at this school

They don’t care about ur wellbeing or mental health and send people into lessons straight after having panick attacks, anxiety attacks and more. The only time they care is if you are either in a meeting where a parent is present or if ofsted is present. The school cares more about the length or skirts, ties or if u have a hole in ur tights which they will then sometimes make u late to lessons to go fix it.

Terrible

The food isn’t very nice. The fizzy drinks were out of date. Some teachers give detention for stupid reason. They are way to strict on our uniform #hermaparkviewdurhamjohnstonframwelgatemoorontop #leonardsissteppingdown the ranks

Ignore other reviews, a great school

A great school. Lots of caring staff. The world isn’t perfect and it’s hard for children. Lots of clubs on offer for children to go to at lunchtimes and after school. Don’t be put off by the building.

Do not send your child here!

The school do not live up to their Catholic status. The teachers are bullies who discriminate against children with SEN. It is like a concentration camp! The Headteacher is a dictator

little respect, can’t even pay the school debt

st leonard’s school is an appalling school which include bad teaching, terrible sympathy towards mental health of students as they do not help people getting bullied. they constantly preach mental health but when a matters at hand they fail to care or do anything that requires minimal effort. I’ve heard in many occasions involving mental health where they couldn’t be bothered to solve the situation so they told someone to leave the school. On the other hand there are about 2 teachers that genuinely care about the well-being of students so i urge them to get out while they can. Another matter, girls constantly being sexualised over the length of their skirts all because they’re slightly rolled. their argument for this is that it distracts male teachers. if this is so much of an issue i’m sure if they’re affected by teenage girls wearing clothes how they want it’s their problem and they shouldn’t be around children. i’m sure no boys or male teachers acc care about lengths of skirts. stop this dictatorship regime. they constantly allow boys to be sent home over the slightest things but as soon as girls have menstrual problems etc they couldn’t care less school is supposed to be a safe place but it’s completely lacking any respect for students

Bad school

Some of the teachers are cool but since the new head teacher the school has essentially become a dictatorship. He only cares about uniform and grades and couldn't care less about the effect this has on the children. My child was bullied for most of his school career and even asked his tutor and head if year for help, the only response was them laughing it off and putting it down to character building. Would not recommend going here if you want teachers to care.

Horrible

Don’t care about anything but ofsted grades and the length of your tie. Teachers are rude, lessons don’t make sense, and if you come in dueing covid it’s practically hell on earth. Just because it’s a catholic school doesn’t mean it’s good. Would not recommend whatsoever. Litter outside, Stuffy classrooms, and the teachers don’t give one about anyone’s mental health.

They also treat girls alot better than boys.

Bad wouldn’t recommend

Wouldn’t recommend you get bullied, ended up with an anxiety disorder, Head Of Year didn’t care at all. I left and moved to St Johns

Bullying + social experience

The learning was average, facilities average, everything pretty average but outside the classrooms I got heavily bullied for just about everything - ended up with anorexia and an anxiety disorder that wouldn’t let me leave the house. Head of year didn’t care, constantly promised my parents and me better treatment - just got referred to the counsellor which didn’t really help.

If you aren’t someone who wants a social experience out of school or you’re not one of the ‘populars’ you’re gonna have a tough time. If you need any counselling or support you’re going to need to rely on external services.
