Not great

It wasn't the best in all honesty. You'll be alright if you don't get bullied, aren't mentally struggling, don't have medical health problems, don't ever need the bathroom, and if you just exist instead. Otherwise, just go somewhere else. Pastoral are useless, as someone who has depression and struggle with self harm and has medical issues, it was very difficult and the support you get from the people who's job it actually is to support you, it's minimal. The actual teachers and teaching assistants were (mostly) all brilliant. Pe teacher was horrible. The students are either nice or nah, no inbetween, and a good 80-90% of them are nobheads. Though I did make good friends. It also isn't often that you'll actually get the support you need. There is never any soap or toilet paper. I just wouldn't recommend at all

not a great school

teachers don't do much about bullying. Certain teachers favour unruly students that only interrupt lesson's resulting in many students not being able to learn. The school councillors don't get good treatment and complaints are dismissed. Although the current headmaster is a good guy, the second in head has an outrageous outlook on the students. Just before summer holiday's the school called all the girls into the hall and from what I heard the second in head told only the girls what they could and could not do to their hair and what they weren't allowed to wear. The second in head spoke of the length of the girls skirts and proceeded to mock the girls by implying that the way they dressed was to get in bed with the other students. From what I heard she said and I quote "Look at me, I'm easy" as a was of mocking the girls. Apart from this, some of the teachers were very supportive and tried their best to make school and work easier for the students. There is a good level of mental health support for the student's if needed. But if a student is missing they will take it to an extreme level (not that that's necessarily a bad thing). One of the student's in my class at the time went to the bathroom just before lesson began for a couple minutes and their name was on the intercoms and they told me afterwards that the teachers tried to open the door to the stall when they didn't answer the first time. One of the teachers spoke badly about one of the student's and another student spoke back and asked why that teacher had spoken that way towards one of the students. I did not find out what happened afterwards but the student was taken into the office and was not in lesson afterwards.

Non-supportive and ableist school, I'm ashamed to have gone to

I went to this school from year 7-8, and rejoined in year 11 to complete my GCSE's due to at-home issues. I myself am neurodivergent, and was living with my grandmother at the time during COVID lockdown. My grandmother has been suffering with COPD, and has difficulties in every day life, along with looking after her underage grand-child. All throughout my school years in this school, I faced severe bullying, with little to no support from the school, I was beaten, I was taken advantage of, and had even been sexually assaulted in school with not even any acknowledgement from the school. Issues rose again when my grandmother asked if I was able to work from home during the covid lockdown in year 11, at least until the cases dropped in the school, and the school refused to allow me to work from home for a long period, and ended up with myself having to leave my education and leave school with no GCSE's as a result of lack of support and help for people with physical and mental disabilities.

Please parents, don't send your children here.

This school is awful, seriously awful.
The stories I have heard from my sibling that goes to this school is actually insane.
The students obviously bully, we know that by now, nothing is done about it. The only time anything was done about bullying was after the very extreme happened to a student, but only weeks later the school was back to how it was before and I still hear very horrendous bullying cases being told to me. Even worse so, the teachers are bullies themselves! Many teachers allow students to bully due to favoritism, "Popular" students are let of the hook solely because they are popular! Cases of racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia being taught BY TEACHERS are not rare. One teacher for example, a Welsh teacher, goes on transphobic and even racist rants in class. Students are supposed to be LEARNING. Not taught to be prejudiced. She talks about pronouns being stupid, talks negatively about transgender students and refers to them by the wrong name and pronouns whilst they are not present in the class. The way she behaves is childish and BULLYING. I have also heard of things that she has said that could be racist, things about afro type hair being dirty and unkept, though i dont know the exact incident.
The male PE teacher is awful, punishing the girls for the slightest things, made to drop down and do pushups FOR NOT HAVING THEIR HANDS BEHIND THEIR BACKS WHEN LINED UP? This is a secondary school, not a boot camp. They are also punished for not wearing skorts even if they are uncomfortable with wearing them which is just gross. Why aren't the students allowed to be comfortable?
Another certain case which make me extremely infuriated involves the female deputy head. She lectured the girls on their uniform, nails, hair etc. Specifically their skirts being too short in an assembly called ONLY for the girls, not the boys, on the very last day of school before summer. She told the girls that they cant be "easy" (gross) and they need to "leave things for the boy's imagination" (even more gross!) completely sexualising them. It's disgusting. These are young girls, aged 11-16. This is entirely inappropriate and very misogynistic. To add on, the skorts they wear for PE are far shorter than the uniform skirts, causing many students to feel uncomfortable and prefer to wear sports leggings, yet they arent allowed to for NO REASON. Yet they are lectured and told they are “easy” if their uniform skirt is only slightly above the knee. Make it make sense???

I hope nobody sends their kids here. I can't wait for my sibling to leave next year and for her to go to a school that treats people respectfully. That's the bare minimum, respect. But still that does not exist here at St. John Lloyds. I would go as far to say that this is an evil school. Very evil. Please do not torture your children by sending them here.

THIS SCHOOL SUCKS!

I don't go here, I was supposed to, but I am SO glad that I didn’t. However, I have siblings that go/have gone there and also have met people that had previously attended this school. I can say this, I have NEVER heard such bad things about a school first hand until now. Now, surprisingly the pupils actually aren’t entirely the problem. There’s a major bullying issue but I’ve heard that many pupils are accepting of other students. The teachers are where the problems start. The teachers tolerate bullying, they do not help. There is a “zero tolerance for bullying” that is a complete and utter lie. Some teachers CONDONE racism!? kids have said racial slurs and a teacher has even shouted at the children who were the victims! and even sympathise with the racists. The PE teachers are rude and sexist towards the girls. Criticising them for not wearing skorts even if they're uncomfortable showing their legs. They are punished if they don't listen or tuck in their shirts (and other petty things) and are made to drop down and do push ups. Also I have heard rumours that a certain PE teacher is a creep. Of course this isn't the majority of the teachers but that doesn’t matter. The negative out weigh the positives. Also, The workload for the higher set kids is insane. My sibling studies every single night, the homework never ends. My sibling and friends do not get a social life because of the amount of work and often don’t even get constructive criticism, just insults. Being told they’re “lazy” for not understanding difficult work. This just isn’t healthy for kids this age. I don’t think homework should stop but there’s major issues here. Some staff are harming these children and they seriously need to fix this school. Do not send your kids here until theres a massive change in the way they deal with bullying and discrimination.

Also there’s not many food options in the canteen for kids who do not eat meat due to religious or personal reasons. This also is a huge issue especially on special meal days when theres literally no options for those children and they have to eat very little or nothing at all. Eg. on Christmas, there’s no meat-free options at all. You cant even choose to not have the meat. Of course no vegan options too. Theres also likely a cross contamination issue between the meat and other foods.

Lastly, some students complain about the lack of privacy for the bathrooms however, thats not really the biggest issue in this school.

Yeah…DON’T GO HERE!!!!

It's alright, they're not great at handling situations with students. Teachers weren't all wearing masks when they were supposed to during covid. The food is actually pretty decent. Wish there were more benches.

A great school

The school and it’s staff were very friendly and helpful, but there are things that weren’t handled that well, such as bullying and some aspects of mental health. The teachers cared about all the students futures and grades, and pushed them to the best they could do.

Loved it

Loved this school, came out in 2019 with all As and A*s and couldnt have done it without the staff. It’s a small humble school so everyone knows each other so it’s a nice tight knitted community. I felt as if I wouldnt have had a better experience if I was at a different school. Even though it’s a religious school, religion isnt forced upon you, but values are important and I’m grateful for everything. Thank you SJL♥️

As a pupil, I see the school on a day to day basis and the handling of this virus is outstanding. Well Done #TeamSTJL

Not sure what to title

It’s such a good school with little bullying i’ve been attending the school for 4 years and i haven’t personally ever seen someone get bullied without it being handled with later on during the day or week. I’d recommend this school since it’s nice and small which gives you the feeling that your special since it’s more one on one since the teachers are paying more attention to each individual. Only fault i see is there is more outdoor benches needed because i have to sit on the wet grass if the benches are taken
