The school can't control any students and shouts in your face like you are nothing. they work the kids crazy and then don't pick none of the hardworking ones. they care more if your tie is off than bullying, and the rules are petty.there is a couple of good teachers though.
Most of my time here I was bullied and abused severely and just simply was picked on by most people in my year and hated on as if they were taking turns smacking the piñata which exactly how I would best describe it, so much in fact that the reception staff all knew and have known some of the things I have been through over the years and were the only ones who have felt most sympathetic and knowing that made me feel less worthless about myself and they knew how much I hated being here and even gave me reassurance near my last years by saying that I have not got long left and have witnessed my angry tantrums of crying and suffering breakdowns and leaving the building, the headteacher and the teachers of this school will never truly understand how its like to feel this injustice of seeing your peers be rewarded and praised as role models without knowing or caring about how they really treat their fellow pupils while its people like me who are left in the gutter to rot and deal with mental health problems suffered by this disgusting excuse of a school, non of the staff could ever deal with the bullying and are useless so the only course of action I had was simply not say a word anymore and take it until it gradually stops and it shouldn’t be that way at all, I was scared to even walk back home in a slow pace out of fear the people who usually picked on me would harass me on my way home which at some occasions even got physical and were the same people who bullied me as far back as Primary school and would insult me and hate me because of my foreign background, in Year 7 when it started getting to much for me I wanted to move schools to Bishop Milner and later on in the school years was thinking a lot about moving to Dormston school but my wish was never granted for Bishop and the staff mentioned it again despite sitting in meetings about it, I had a full bottle hit the side of my head in the Maths corridor, dragged of my chair by my tie strangling my neck and fall on the floor in 2018, gum slapped on the back of my head as the teacher left the class and even told my head of year 7, Drinks thrown at me spilling on me which were thrown deliberately from a long distance which took place in late 2019, being called names and mocked for my appearance and often called a scruff, shoved around the corridor, punched and attacked, being told you stink and having people openly complain to not want to sit next to you etc and this is just a few of these things and telling the whole story would be more upsetting and not what I want to fully recall, what pissed me off more is how much attention the gifted students or just the talkative or misbehaved ones would get given special treatment and praise while at the same time would be the same people making my life here a living hell, how would you expect me to feel seeing a student being praised on the school social media accounts on how wonderful and proud they are of so and so when for example a girl who was also one of 2021’s top achievers in gcse results called me a “disease” after one of her friends told me to hold her bag in the field at lunch making it out like her bag is now contaminated because I (which happened when I was in Year 10) touched it, its been almost 2 years since I officially left school and I am thinking of taking therapy because of the amount of trauma and neglect this school put me through, the only redeeming quality this place has is that some of the teachers here deserve so much better than to continue teaching in this place, lot of great teachers have left and I don’t blame them, history teachers here are amazing and so were my English teachers and were the only things i liked about school besides hanging out with my friends but sadly this school screwed my over which has now costed me my goals and my ambitions.
bullied in the school started sticking up for my self and when someone said something I would bite back they kicked me out for this
lack of authority kids walked all over them
they put there higher academic children first
they were two faced
but after all that there were some really nice teachers who helped me through everything.
this school is terrible!! I hate going to this school. the school don’t know how to control anyone and they can’t deal with issues probably. people get excluded for stupid reasons and the rules are petty. they think there bright by shouting in peoples faces and overall this school is atrocious. don’t send your kids here because you will regret it. all the DAT schools are ridiculous and stupid.
St James is a terrible school, the pastoral care is shocking and if a student reports something they don’t deal with it, the SLT don’t care about the students is all about getting the schools reputation to the highest standard when it’s definitely not
luckily i attended this school before it was an academy so my early experience wasnt as bad. However since it has became an academy i can say its gone tremendously downhill i do not recommend sending your child here or to any of the other schools in the academy!! some teachers are honestly amazing but the overall school is disappointing.
