Awful learning atmosphere.

This is possibly one of the worst places to send your child/ren to. Over previous years, alongside other family and friends children, ours have attended here. It was of an acceptable standard, our children happy and where there was potential to learn and do well. As a result, we have continued to use this school as preference. Things have changed. No idea what goes on in that school now. The low morale is terrible.

Do not send your child here. There is zero recognition given to students for their really hard work unless they are over achievers.
My child is not an A* pupil, however, has a real willingness to try her very best and works hard. Yet, as a result of not being overly academic, alongside so many others, she is not encouraged whatsoever, or pushed to achieve further. With the right teaching style and attitude in place, staff whom care and take pride, I’m sure she could. We will support her by way of a move of school imminently.

The place as a whole is not a nice environment to be in. Even as a visitor. To hear the children talk so negative is not nice. It’s a place where they spend most of their time and should be happy & enthusiastic.
Unless absolutely necessary, my advice, don’t send your child here.
We as parents with prior experience of education and expectations here, can only offer our viewpoints & opinions, in the hope others take note. For their child’s on sake, read the reviews.

Amazing school sent my child here and she absolutely loved it !! They are very strict however but i think its a good thing so the children get to learn how they will be in the future. 10/10 school!! send your children here !! daughter was a nightmare in primary but a couple months into being at this school she became different for the better !! best school in Blackpool for sure.

If I could rate zero stars, I would. But unfortunately I can't.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO SUFFER INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY.
St Georges is terrible. Firstly, the rules are completely out of hand. No child is allowed to use the toilet unless they have a doctors note- why should I have to be in possession of a doctors note to use the restroom? The school is literally filled with teenagers, young ladies on their monthly have to suffer prolonged periods without changing their sanitary towel/tampon, and when the students are sent to break time and lunch (the only time the students are told they're allowed to use the toilets during the school day) multiple teachers send them away saying it isn't their turn to use the bathroom.
Secondly, the pastoral team are absolutely terrible. If your child is sent to the sanctuary, they sit there in silence the whole day not socialising. Please note, the sanctuary is a place where students who suffer from bullying/anxiety are sent, and they are forced to sit in silence all day doing lessons on a computer. I bet that is working absolute wonders for their problems. There is a waiting list to speak to a pastoral member, and you may only apply for this list before school in the morning meaning if a child begins to have a mental breakdown of sorts, they aren't sent to a pastoral leader- they are sent out on class as a punishment. Ridiculous.
Though I absolutely despised my time at St Georges for the treacherous favouritism of students by teachers, punishments that got even more Ridiculous as the school year went on and the school timetable changing roughly every month (which definitely isn't confusing for literal children when the timetable is ever changing and they're being persecuted when they're lost/don't know where they're meant to be...), there were some absolute golden teachers there who truly care about the students. Mr Choudhury, Mrs Greaves, Miss Rowe, Mrs Stott, Mrs Sharsvah, Mr Gohil and Mr Fisher are godsends, respectful to students, respectable as people, not too pushy and empathetic. On the other hand, Mrs Tingy, Mr Warnock, Mr Standring, Mr Smith, Mr Connoughton, All the P.E. teachers and a large, large handful of others made my high-school experience a living hell. I was not an all A+ student by any means, I was chatty yet respectful-when asked to be quiet I would, ect. However, when there were students making fun of my mother who passed away when I was in year 9, attending the school, and I passed this information on to several members of staff I was somehow punished for this as the students were favoured by teachers. Another few things to add, if your child suffers from mental illness or they struggle with mental health DO NOT SEND THEM TO THIS SCHOOL. The staff will do absolutely nothing to help. While I was attending the school both my mother and father passed away, I was offered counselling and allowed 3 days off. Then I had attempted to end my own life twice during my time at St Georges, the hospital informed the school yet not a single member of the pastoral team came to speak to me, offer advice, offer a councillor or anything. It's so disgusting how something such as an actual CHILDS mental health is disregarded and it destroyed me at age 14/15. For the "Best school in Blackpool" it is extremely disappointing. I could've gotten a better education, support system and altogether better experience from a wall.

Don’t send them here

All I can say is wtf has happened

I’ve just left here and omg it was hell, start off year 7 I actually enjoyed school come end of year 11 and I want to genuinely off my self.they don’t do anything about bullying I was bullied for 5 years and they did jack shit about it.

Your told of if your shoes aren’t right or if your hairs is too short they will catch you out on anything and everything

Some of the teachers are amazing ( mr Standring, mr Uphill ,mr Gohil all taught me and were awesome )

Wow..

All I can say is wtf has happened to this place..

I’ve finished here this year and In yr 7 I actually enjoyed school but by year 11 I wanted to off my self being there. Having to be silent in a corridor or being told off for not saying good morning/afternoon to a teacher it takes the piss. Was told by a teacher I can’t do what I want in the future because it’s not for me and to look for a new idea. Some of the teachers are amazing though ( mr Standring, mr Uphil and mr Gohill were the best )

Not good

My experience at St. George’s went extremely downhill in my last year there. The strict uniform code and measures to control the students appearances completely took over the fact that a school should be a safe environment to learn and not be judged for your appearance. I wore white high knee socks on my first day back in year 11 not knowing that it had to be black socks, to which I was then told if I don’t change them then there would be consequences. Furthermore students were disciplined for forgetting pieces of equipment and given detentions- which in my opinion, being a high achieving student, isn’t displaying how it’s ok to make mistakes and be given positive reinforcement to correct it. Students don’t want to treated like this and by making such ridiculous rules such as silent corridors or needing to be escorted to a toilet feels so condescending and in some ways like a metaphorical prison. It does not make people feel like their learning environment is safe. Moreover, mental health support was something the school made seem was a huge priority for them- it was not. If a teacher has a bad day it’s understandable as they are overworked and in some cases underpaid. However if a high achieving student has a bad day they’re seen to be working below standards and being disrespectful even though they are given homework in over 9 subjects and given harsh consequences if failure to complete

Used to be better in the 90s

This school is the worst in Blackpool And I mean the worst.
This school makes Montgomery Academy look good. The rules are absolute ridiculous, Its like a prison! St George's Academy is a mess. The school is dated and old. Isolation for the stupidest of things like asking a question or wearing WHITE SOCKS! WHITE SOCKS! They do not care about Bullying, So God help if your child comes out as part of the lgbtq+ or is "different" in any way because ensure your child will get bullied at George's, When your child is torn down everyday don't expect the teachers to help because they only care about getting a pay check at the end of the month. The Food is Repulsive and over-cooked. The teachers pick on you 24/7 and complain when you don't come to lesson, but then they don't turn on their live lessons. They hand out consequences for the littlest of things, its petty and sadistic. Like they do it for the joy of it. They even have Saturday detentions. Like are you serious. Personally, Don't send your kids here if you don't wanna wake up on Saturday to take your child to a detention. The whole school is Pathetic. They don't care about your child's Mental health or wellbeing. So don't send your kid here. They would be much better at a school that cares.

welcome to ***** *******

absolute shit hole. have no care for children’s mental health and when seeking help they couldn’t care less. last few months of school was shoved in an AP united “to help support” when they just wanted the troubled students out the way. if i has to do another year i probably would of offed myself it’s that bad and Dts are given for silly reasons.they have silent transitions but if you don’t say good morning back to a member or staff you get in trouble. make your mind up you delusional pieces of shits. if you don’t care for kids don’t get a job in education. only send your kids here if you hate them. ideal way of torchering children and basically treated like soldiers in 1900 britain. btw love you bea

awful school

Awful school all they care about is the kids appearance and theyre salary’s, my child took her pe kit to school one day and had forgotten a pair of socks the pe staff would not let her wear her shoes without socks or provide her with another pair and continued to still give her a detention despite it being the forst time she had ever forgotten it. They had recently been given maths knowledge organisers with homework for the next day my dayghter didnt realise they gave her the wrong one for another uear until she got home when she arrived at school the next day and talked to her teacher about it her teacher shouted at her for not messaging one of her freinds asking for the work and proceeded to still give her a detention. One of the male staff grabbed my daughter by her waist to move her out of the way and when i went in to the school with her about it he denied it and nobody admitted to seeing it despite there being a couple other teachers in the hall. Overall this is an awful school and if you care about your childs mental health, happiness and safety send them somewhere else!!

Rubbish

Absolute mess this school, they don’t care about any of the students, just the way they dress, etc. Lunch time detention for forgetting a pencil?!, The only time they seem as if they ‘care’, is when inspectors come in. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

crapschool

School only seems to care about looking nice, they don't want problems or children who don't conform. Our lad, Y10 now, detentions every day for 2 weeks for not completing homework,he's adamant he's done it all, others for mumbling in the corridor! Googling something in the classroom! Forgetting PE kit that is in the school somewhere, turned out a dinner lady had shoved it a cupboard?

Bad school

Their main focus is to impress the inspectors and get a better ofsted report rather than giving the pupils a quality education

Gone downhill- massively

unsafe. Used to be an amazing work environment but the teachers are so focused on what we look like and how we appear to other schools that even the best behaved kids of worried about being given detention for something that really isn’t worth a c1. they’re not worried about having to do the detention they’re worried about getting home amd not having enough time to do the homework they’ve been given that’s due in the next day and again is punished with a detention no questions asked. toxic work environment.

G.W. Needs to pack it in

Care more about how they appear to others than their actual students. A child could be walking around with a severed arm and they’d still ask them why they’re wearing shiny kickers😡😡
