i’m sick of this school. i am a current student at this school. they have excluded me multiply times including today, for not doing an assessment which was hard and u didn’t understand because they have exlcuddd me that much u have lost a great deal of learning. teachers do not understand what students go through day to day. they have made sure i feel so low about how i am and how i react to things. i have done nothing but try and all they do it keep trying to push me off the edge. i love the headteacher i do think he is amazing and some other teachers but some are horrific and need to hurry and get their pention!
I got permanantly excluded for walking out of isolation for wearing trainers when i was on crutches for an ankle injury also during my time at st benet bisops i was wearing school pants that were slightly tight and look like leggings so one of the male teachers looked at my bum to make sure they werent leggings theyre unfair and also stopped me eating my dinner the day i got expelled from bennies, theyre all perverts and freaks.
So this school is pointless they give you detentions for anything the uniform is really bad your not aloud make up lashes jerwerly gum nail not aloud to wear white shoes for example normal converses your not aloud to do anything all you have to do is behave and sit still and some of the teachers treat you really bad on computer loads of sites are blocked if u skip cause your upset you will get suspended for 5 days they will not care for u they will tell you to suck it up i have only been to this school for 2 year I'm and year 8 pupil turning into a year 9 but this school is really bad you could end up to tear because all the teachers do is scream in your face but if you shout back that's rude so what am I meant to do be quiet no I would shout back because there shouting at me but when they ask you a question your not aloud to answer back because that's rude and if u be defiance because you carnet do the work you will get detention if you go to this school it will be living hell. please don't send your child here.
worst years of my life if im being totally honest. the teachers are horrible and they only care if your following the rules. the detention system is ridiculous e.g. if you dont have your shirt tucked in you have to stay behind for half an hour if you walk out of a lesson you get suspended for 5 days. this is one of the worst schools in the area. would not recommend
This school is a breeding ground for bullying, harmful rumours and staff misconduct. There has been several bullying incidents that the school has not really solved properly and the deputy head has embarrassed students by talking about confidential information relating to the students with other pupils in the corridors. 0/10 would not recommend. The school has left several people felling unsafe in the school.
This school is a joke. I’m at this school and I wish I never came at all.
They don’t understand you at all and when a ‘incidence’ happens they only listen to one side of a story.
Some teachers are amazing and listen to you but others are disrespectful and rude.
Detentions are ever worse, you get a detention for the wrong coulour socks? You don’t get any days where you’re not in non school uniform.
This school needs shut down.
There's a lot to complain about so I'll start with the basics. I am scared to walk onto the property, the bullying is atrocious, I am scared someone will call me a slur and have no punishment. I am scared to wear a skirt incase a boy looks up it and starts harassing me. ( This has happened to my friend and the school has done nothing about it, many teachers have been told and the boy has still not been punished for it). I am scared I will get many detentions for my ANKLES showing. Girls get discriminated against for their skirt being slightly above their knees and their pants being too tight. Anyone who is transgender gets called genderbender and slurs by other students but the teachers say 'I think you must have misheard them'. The school could not care less about your mental health, you could be struggling to breathe because your having a panic attack but they say ' being upset is completely natural' and ' you're just stressed '. Although some teachers do try to help you with working and mental health that is only on the rare occasion. Overall, I do not advise going to this school I don't know if other high schools are any different.
If I could give no stars I would , teachers have attitude problems towards parents and students they have no understanding of children with extra learning needs and they make allowances for kids that need that extra help , detention policy is ridiculous and does not work properly year 9 staff are the worst they have no care or compassion for individual needs , bullying policy is ridiculous also the bully gets away with it and the victim is made to go to lunch club
Speaking as a former student here, the schools mental health system is absolutely appalling. I could honestly write a novel about my experience with it but for the sake of time I’ll sum it up. The teachers will stand there and tell you they care about you and promise to help you if you need it. But the second you decide to speak out about struggling, they treat you like a 2 year old complaining about a broken pencil rather than someone genuinely struggling. I was feeling upset to the point of numbness constantly and having panic attacks before some of my lessons for many reasons. It was to the point I found it hard to focus in lessons and doing anything felt like a chore. But when I told the teacher who was in charge of mental health about this, her response was “everyone gets sad sometimes.” I’m sorry, what?! I tried reaching out to other teachers but they either said things like “it’s natural to feel a bit stressed” or they said they’d do something to help me but never did. I’d chase it up but would hear nothing. I honestly feel really let down by my teachers.
In addition, the schools bullying policy is ridiculous. People would whisper a minor swear word and they’d get a detention instantly. But when students were yelling slurs across the classroom, non of the teachers would ever say anything. Not to mention just the general bullying that would go on in lessons that never got solved. Hell, I saw students get told off for telling the people bullying them to shut up and leave them alone. It’s ridiculous and made me feel really unsafe going into certain lessons.
This school is beyond a joke. Teachers act like they care about students mental health and well-being but in reality they are only troubled about making sure everyone has good grades . They conceptualize all students are impeccable and are already experienced to accomplish everything when really they need to support students more on things that don’t concern work instead of holding grudges if one student makes a mistake. Also not giving preferential treatment to more well behaved students when they do not know the reasoning behind why some students act out , they automatically judge and imagine the student is just badly behaved. Uniform policy is absolutely nonsensical , a girl could be crying her eyes out in the corridor and a teacher would point out the fact their skirt is the slightest bit above their knees. “You can’t wear a coloured bra like that under your white shirt , everyone can see it” , “Go take of that makeup in the toilet” , “Your skirt is to short. Roll it down” As we understand that a uniform code is being adhered the school goes far beyond that , Girls are being sexualised , as we begin to feel shame around our bodies , the way we are changing and developing as we become women. Unknowingly we are directed to learn that it is our responsibility to cover ourselves up , or invite looks and stares and whatever else our way. No , because boys and male need to learn to control themselves we are not “asking for it” . When a girl reaches the teenage age , figuring herself out , body changing stage , we inevitably want to wear different clothes eg a school skirt instead of pants , clothes that accentuate new found curves and lines. Teachers don’t like it , they fight against it , tell us to go and change our pants and to make our skirt longer because we are going to “attract the wrong kind of attention”. This is placing the blame on girls and women while ignoring the twisted behaviour and actions of boys and men. Parents and teachers falsely think they’re protecting us from our own sexuality , but all they are really doing is judging us girls and teaching us to tell us to feel shame around our bodies and our awakening sexuality. We have to stop sexualising school girls and we need to stop spreading and infecting fear and shame into girls in this school and to teach boys that women are not objects , our body’s are not made to be covered up , the way men and teachers react or respond has nothing to do with the student doing anything wrong.
the teachers dont help with your mental health at all, they find stuff to tell you off about and instead of focusing on our learning they focus on how we look and how tight girls pants are.
The school is beyond awful, teachers are absolutely abysmal. My head teacher cannot fathom the existence of mental health and told a student to watch a Christmas movie in order to cure their depression while his companion does in the same in offering a student a card about sun above the clouds which suddenly made that student happy (it did not). The dress code is not as bad however still has problems especially for the girls dress code in which teachers believe that girls are sexualising themselves by wearing a slight high kilt first of all why are the teachers are looking? Are they getting excited? Because if that’s the case then clearly they cannot work with young women if they are getting excited. Another problem with the dress code exists in sixth form as hoodies are not allowed due to health and safety reason yes you heard the right for safety!! I mean how can a hoodie cause injury unless you have a murderous student who wants to kill every student by strangling them and I know first hand we do not have any students like that so why are jumpers banned?. The core does not allow expensive clothing as it could lead to bullying for the people without designer clothes. I mean if you believe we are young adults by now then you should also believe that we are mature enough to not care about what people where designer or not because in fact we are not as materialistic as they think. Lesson are a waste of time as we have to spend 4 hours a fortnight learning about absolutely nothing the lesson of core re and core studies should not exists as they offer no Help in the preparation for adult life and instead takes up 4 hours of lesson time which could be used for an extra lesson or extra study time for student. An extra problem is the lunch as sixth formers as during some days we do not have anywhere to eat our lunch due to covid restrictions this had also caused sixth form students to loose the time slot our canteen meaning these students cannot enter the canteen for food meaning people are forced to buy from the overpriced co-op or bring a pack lunch to eat. The teachers in this school have clear favourites and back them even if they’re in the wrong and so will unfairly punish students even if they are the right in order to Create a narrative that their so called ‘golden child’ is the victim in all this. The school is obsessed with looking good for ofsted and outsiders a like but by doing this other areas falter.
this school is shocking. teachers will not listen to or appreciate your opinion if it goes against theirs. my head of year especially is completely patronising. they care more about the way you look on the outside than they do about your mental health and well being. select students do not get the punishment for their actions as their parents teach at the school. girls sexualised for the length of their skirts and we wonder why some boys grow up with the mindset that girls are “asking for it” by their choice of clothing. this school is disgraceful.
It’s hard to explain this school.
Often the students feel abandoned and failed by the people who are supposed to help them.
However, there are some aspects in the school which are positive.
As a former student, I enjoyed that a select few of the teachers were absolutely amazing. But, that cannot be said for all members of staff, I often wondered how some of those people were classed as teachers.
The mental health support for the students is basically nonexistent (although they will never admit that). The levels of bullying in the school are ignored.
If your child can find those specific teachers who will always support them, then the school is going to be fine for them.
The school is dreadful, they care more about petty incidents than they do anything else and find any excuse they can to get students in trouble. Teachers are ignorant and don’t like an opposite opinion at all
10 covid-19 cases or so and school still hasn’t closed? Why don’t you care about the safety of our children. As well as little to no remote learning support, if you expect children to be in charge of their own learning then why do teachers exist? year 11 teaching themselves material they have never seen before is ridiculous. Not to mention the accommodations and lack of care for people with bad mental health.
This school does not have good mental health support or care about individuals, It seems to care more about how the school looks on the outside than the students who are struggling in it. Teachers are very strict which does not help students learn in their own ways and be creative which is something they could work on. Uniform is very important to them, god forbid colourful socks but scars on wrists mean nothing to them.
I have really enjoyed my time here, and I can't wait for next year. This is a great school! The teachers are really supportive, and they care about your well-being.
