I attended this school from 2010 till 2017 where I did my SATS. While I had a great experience, making amazing friends that I unfortunately don’t speak to anymore, great school trips and amazing activities. I also didn’t have the best time, I was bullied, humiliated and made fun of by my peers, unfortunately the teachers didn’t do anything about this and it has affected who I am today.
I showed signs of learning difficulties early on into me being at this school, they would try and help me in certain ways by giving me homework to do at home and I’d write on a whiteboard in the back of the classroom and used that to help me. Unfortunately this didn’t work for me, and they never gave me or my parents any other options that could help me to improve in my learning.
I struggled with my work throughout my experience and worried constantly that I wouldn’t go that far in life. When it came to doing my SATS, I had no extra time(which is understandable as I didn’t have a diagnosis at that time)and had no help whatsoever. I later found out that I failed all of my SATS.
They had seen signs of autism in me throughout my education at this school and waited until I was about to leave to head of to secondary school to tell me parents this. If they had told them sooner I would have had an education plan and an official diagnosis, but because this didn’t happen I was diagnosed in year 8 and had to go through secondary school without an education plan.
I failed majority of my GCSES and dropped out of college because I didn’t have an education plan, if I had one I would have had more help with my education and mental health.
I do recommend this school even though I had no help from them, they did an amazing job at making the children feel safe and secure, and making sure we had lots of fun with our work and activities. But I also don’t recommend this school if you feel that your children has a disability.
